Marie was a real God-send for our family. Her compassion and kindness were overwhelming at a very difficult and challenging time...my daughter had just given birth to her second set of twins in less than four years. Marie brought a sense of calm and and she always seemed to know just what to do to be the most help. Marie gets my highest recommendation! She is truly amazing.
As first-time parents without any family members nearby to provide support, we were concerned about how we would manage through the first few months of our little one’s life. A close friend recommended we hire a post-partum doula. We interviewed a few candidates and from the moment we met Marie, we knew she was the right fit for our family. Her warmth, professionalism, knowledge and experience inspired confidence in us that we had found the right person to guide us in caring for our sweet little boy.
Marie supported us through some of the challenges we faced with our little one, always finding a way to help him feel better, eat better and sleep better. So many of the things she taught us, we still use today! She was highly knowledgeable in the areas of child development, breastfeeding and recovery from childbirth and always brought positivity and humor into our home- much needed during those early weeks of extreme exhaustion! She was incredibly reliable and available to answer questions and provide support between visits, and provided some much needed help with laundry and dishes. Most importantly we felt completely safe and comfortable in trusting Marie to care for our little one, and he always enjoyed her visits. We don’t know how we could have made it through those first few weeks without her help. We highly recommend Marie as a post-partum doula, without any reservation.
Marie Russell is a kind, gentle, flexible, knowledgeable and over all amazing post-partum doula and person. My experience with Marie was life saving! I desperately needed help in caring for my baby because I was a nervous and unsure first time mother. I was really struggling with breast feeding and trying to recover from my c-section, and my husband and I had no family close by to help. We contacted Marie and from the moment she entered our house she immediately had a calming presence. She listened to my needs, was non-judgemental, and new exactly how to help. She provided education on infant care, infant sleep, breast feeding and made sure I was fed and taken care of so I could take care of my son. My son absolutely loved her, and I felt comfortable and trusted her with my son. She has a very natural talent with babies. She helped keep my house tidy and clean so I could focus on my son, and accompanied me to several doctor appointments as well as a breast feeding support group. I felt so much more relaxed and confident after Marie's support and guidance, and was able to truly take in the joy of our son. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for assistance post-partum.
What a wonderful experience we had in Marie Russell's newborn class! My mother and husband and I were able to attend and we couldn't have been more pleased. Marie made us feel so welcomed the minute we got to her home. My husband and I attended a six week course at Manchester Hospital prior to seeing Marie and we both feel we received more use full information than the classes at Manchester. She answered all of our questions and had a lot of reading material for us to bring home and go over again. As far as the breastfeeding part of the class I was really nervous about asking questions and also didn't feel like I knew as much as I should prior to speaking with Marie but when I left there I really felt so much better about things she took the time to explain how to use my electric breast pump which to me seemed very overwhelming when I first received it but now I feel like I have a much better grasp on how to use it. I would recommend anyone to Marie she has all the up to date information and is such a kind and caring person!
Marie Russell was with us after the birth of my 2nd child. She was with us for about 3-3.5 weeks, 2 times a week. Marie's knowledge and experience with newborns (as well as toddlers) was priceless. There wasn't anything that Marie wouldn't do-- she helped with infant/toddler care, laundry, meals, came on playdates, gave me the opportunity to have 1:1 time with both children and emotionally supported me. Marie was extremely knowledgeable about breastfeeding and helped me navigate/learn about reflux (which my infant had). I'm not sure I could have survived those first few months without her. I would HIGHLY recommend Marie to anyone.
Marie was in our house full-time for my first week post-partum with my second child. She cared for me, played with my toddler son and helped with infant care. During a difficult time, Marie was like a ray of sunshine in our house. She was kind, warm, caring and extremely knowledgable about everything from bottle sterilization to car seat functionality to the symptoms of post-partum depression. I like to think of her as 50% mother figure to me and 50% toddler / baby whisperer. I can not recommend her strongly enough.
I can't say enough about Marie Russell. She was our doula for six months and was such an important and integral part of our experience as first time parents. Our daughter had reflux and had to be put on medication, all the while I was tying to continue to breastfeed. Marie helped me to not give up on nursing, even though it was so challenging with our daughter's reflux. She also had sleep issues and Marie help us with sleep schedules as well as the dreaded sleep training! Marie's warm and gentle energy was so instrumental in keeping us calm during trying times with a newborn/infant. Make sure you snap Marie up before someone else does!! We just love her so much!
