Keen on improving maternity care services for all families, I have entered the doula profession with the professional training, educational background, and passion needed to provide pregnant individuals and their families with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to have an empowering birth experience. In 2018, I earned a Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) with a focus on Maternal Child Health from Boston University, where I studied under the mentorship of Dr. Gene Declercq and Dr. Neel Shah. I am very comfortable with understanding research and enjoy sharing the latest evidence about maternity care best practices with my doula clients. I layer this knowledge with a personal interest in human connection, birth art as a vehicle to tap into personal emotions surrounding pregnancy and birth, a quirky sense of humor, and hands-on skills in diverse comfort measures and optimal positioning during labor. Training in lactation support and perinatal mood disorders round up my toolkit for the care I provide. My doula work marries well with my role as the Director of Maternal Child Health and Government Affairs for the CT and RI chapters of a large national nonprofit organization, where I work closely with partners statewide on promoting evidence-based programs and policies for healthy moms, babies, and their families. As a founding member of the Connecticut Doula Collective and a member of Birth Tribe, I take pride in taking an active role in advancing the doula profession and partnering with maternity care providers to improve the patient experience, while also ensuring positive birth outcomes. Born in Australia, and raised in Italy, I have also lived in Indonesia, Africa, and four states in the U.S. I love working with individuals and families from different backgrounds, cultures, and spiritual paths!

Jordana was an incredible resource leading up to and during our second daughter's birth. I would label my first daughter's birth as traumatic, and I was determined to have a more positive, empowering birth the second time around. Jordana was thoughtful and supportive as we made decisions that were right for us, and always available to answer questions or brainstorm other options. Her approach was the perfect blend of emotional and practical, evidence-based support. We switched from an OB to midwife practice at a different hospital at 25+ weeks. It turned out to be an excellent choice, and Jordana gave us confidence in our decision and provided a thread of continuity. She's part of a great network of providers. It was wonderful to work with someone that others already knew and respected, and if I was looking for a professional to help with a certain issue (like a prenatal massage therapist, chiro, etc), she provided excellent recommendations. Jordana has a calming vibe, and is incredibly well-educated and respected in the birth community. While no birth goes "as planned", our daughter's was absolutely beautiful and very healing. She helped us advocate for ourselves, ensure we were informed and had thought things through, and in the moment she provided support to not just me, but my husband as well, allowing him to take breaks, etc. She also took some beautiful photos in the moment! We felt so lucky to have her.
My wife, Vanessa, and I feel fortunate and privileged to have had Jordana Frost as our doula for the birth of our daughter, Vivian, on 5/25/19. Back when Vanessa was in her first trimester, I'm not sure I knew what a doula was. Vanessa encourage a meeting “to see.” Right from the initial intro meeting with Jordana through the very last day, Jordana demonstrated remarkable compassion and knowledge. I couldn't imagine a better person to bring into what is a personally sacred place for us, the birth of our daughter. Hands down, this was smart money.
Our experience was immeasurably improved starting a few months before with some preparatory meetings. Those meetings increased as we got closer to the big day. But Jordana really shines during the intensity of the event. When I was running low on energy, she gently encouraged me at key points to participate. She was a kind and attentive counsel to Vanessa during labor. I'm so grateful for her focus and appreciation of what we needed. She was a relief to have as a sounding board when we needed to make point-decisions about how to work through some labor challenges. She just gave us confidence.
These words fall short. Thank you Jordana Frost.
We are so glad that we had Jordana helping guide us through our childbirth experience. Jordana's warmth, calm demeanor, and good humor throughout our time working with her went a long way toward reducing our stress. As we anticipated, the work Jordana did with us preparing for childbirth and educating us about options and techniques that can help was invaluable, but the benefit we hadn't thought of as much was how much her support meant to my husband in the delivery room. While I was somewhat oblivious to the passage of time during labor, my husband, his sore feet, and growling stomach were not. Having another trusted support person in the delivery room gave him the chance to take breaks and rest his feet from time to time without feeling guilty. We loved working with Jordana!
Jordana was the perfect match for my family's birthing experience. We met on several occasions prior to my due date to go over expectations, roles, and various birthing scenarios. One of the things I liked the most about Jordana was that she provided us with information and resources and allowed us to come to our own conclusions. She did not try to influence or push us in any certan direction and respected our decisions. Jordana was extremely knowledgable in regards to pregnancy, birth, after birth, and baby milestones.
I did not get to labor at home due to my water breaking prior to any contractions. Jordana met my husband and I at the hospital when the contractions got strong. She coached my husband and I through a medication free labor, which was my plan. She brought a laboring ball, electric candles, and aromatherapy - all of which proved to be extremely useful in coping with the strong contractions. Jordana'a calm persona helped me feel as relaxed as possible despite the pain of labor. We had an extremely memorable birthing experience!
A few days after we got home from the hospital, Jordana made a follow up home visit. She became better acquainted with our daughter and we discussed the birthing experience. Jordana also made sure I was not having any issues with breastfeeding and also addressed any questions or concerns I had.
I highly recommend Jordana's doula services. I greatly enjoyed working with her and continue to stay in touch with her. She was the right fit for us!
I was incredibly blessed to have Jordana Frost as my Doula for the birth of my daughter. She was compassionate, super knowledgeable, sensitive to my cultural and heritage needs, and was with me for tremendous support before, during, and after the birth of my child. I am so thankful for her and I can't imagine having had anyone better to do the job.
She provided me with numerous resources in addition to very interesting and fun sessions to help prepare for labor. As soon as I went into labor she was right by my side and was a constant source of strength and support that I needed to make it through!
I appreciate all of the wisdom she brings to her work, from her diverse educational background, her world travels, her personal family stories, and her commitment to natural birthing and child care practices.
I chose to exclusively nurse my daughter and she continued to be a support during this as well, answering all my questions and referring me to great resources in order to get additional information.
I highly recommend her as a Doula and will definitely be having her as my Doula when/if I choose to have another addition to my little family.
I continued to stay in contact with Jordana long after my daugther was born and now consider her a great friend and mentor. I appreciate all she has done for my family and continues to do in the community to help women like me.
Jordana is an incredibly talented doula! She is passionate about birth and very knowledgeable about birth options in the Connecticut area. My husband and I truly enjoyed our pre-natal and post-partum meetings with Jordana. When the big day came, she provided warm and compassionate labor support and natural pain relief, first at home, and then at the hospital. Her labor support helped me to have the natural hospital birth that I had hoped for. I recommend Jordana to anyone looking for amazing labor support!!
