One day a yoga teacher told me about Jenn from Be Well Birth Well and how she was hoping to attend a home birth. I met with her and it was almost instant that I knew she would attend my birth! Jenn and Lauren were both instantly a perfect personality match for me. Jenn is sweet, outgoing, optimistic and bubbly. Lauren is sweet, calming and very nurturing. I would say they both share each other's qualities, but each have predominant traits about them; all good and positive! Through a few hours of contractions and one hour of pushing, both Jenn and Lauren were there for me like no one has ever been there for me before. They comforted my every ail. They loved and nurtured me through the hardest few hours I've ever had in my whole life! They are perfect; they are superstars! I happened to have my birth just when they were first getting started as a team, so I got to have double the pleasure of both of them at my birth. I am so very thankful that it worked out that way! They both brought their own spice to the mix to make a masterpiece! I know that without them I would have survived, but with them I didn't have to survive. They took care of me and I knew they were there for me the whole time! My midwife couldn't believe the ease with which I went through contractions, transition and birth. I attribute at least 80% of that to Jenn and Lauren! I don't know what I would have done without them and I'm so very glad I don't have to know. I've never worked so hard in my life! They made it feel a lot easier. Looking back, it was just a few hours of my life-not too bad. I would recommend these girls to everyone that is going to go through this difficult, yet rewarding experience! All of my love and gratitude to the ladies at Be Well Birth Well! -Samantha Smith

When I first met Jenn, I knew she would be a great doula for us. Not only was she a personality match, but it was obvious that helping and empowering pregnant women is her passion, and it shines through in everything she does.

The uncertainty of military life, and our family being a few states away contributed to our original decision to search for a doula. I wanted to try for a natural birth, but knew that if my husband happened to be away and my family support team was still a flight away, it would be difficult.

While the birth didn't quite go as I had planned (our little acrobat turned breech at 39 weeks), we were as prepared as we could have been. During our pre-natal visits Jenn talked about options and choices we may have whether the birth was natural or not and encouraged us to have a C-section plan prepped, in addition to our best case plan. Little did we know that would be necessary when the day finally came.

Not only did Jenn provide the consistency I needed, but her emotional support and knowledge prior to, during, and after the birth was incredible. Her help didn't end when she left the hospital the day our daughter was born. She continues to provide post-natal support- for example, after a conversation about breastfeeding issues, she sent me additional resources to help solve a bad latch.

Working with Jenn was a great decision for us and I highly recommend you consider her as your doula!

Jenn was my doula twice, once by distance via phone and internet. Sounds strange but yes, it is possible! She coaxed, coached, advised and everything else by text, phone and Facebook.

When we were able to visit in person, we walked and did a lot of other things to get me ready for labor. It would have been great if she could have been at the birth but it worked out well to have her working in conjunction with my midwives.

The second birth included Jenn every step of the way because we lived much closer. She attended midwife appts, provided emotional support when I had problems early on and was there for the ultrasounds that eventually showed everything to be normal. When I didn't feel well, she brought me goodies and bath soaks and she made numerous trips when labor would try to start and stop.

Our baby girl was finally born with a triple nuchal cord and I hemmorhaged and Jenn helped hold me up and cuddled our baby within arms reach of me while the midwife attended to me. Even when everything went crazy, Jenn was present and calm and coordinated what the midwife and I needed with ease. Since we had anticipated an easy birth (the previous one had been), our midwife hadn't called her assistant (my request) and Jenn made as good of a second midwife as we could have asked for. What could have easily become an emergent situation was handled with skill and ease. We couldn't have done it without her!

What can I say about Jenn...well I can honestly say she prevented me for seriously harming someone or myself during my birthing process.  I have Pain Triggered PTSD and was deeply concerned about blacking out and not being "there" for the delivery of my son or worse harming someone during the process.  I know I wanted to stay at home as long as I could and didn't want to use pain medicine until it was 100% needed.  With Jenn's expertise and loving/nurturing presence I was able to stay at home till I was 7 1/2cm and in the hospital she made the process less confusing and terrifying for my husband and I.  She made my husband feel safe, supported and involved and we both agree with all our hearts that our birth experiance wouldn't have been so amazing if not for Jenn!!

Hiring Jenn was the best decision we made during my pregnancy! She supported us before, during and after the delivery of our son.  She still continues to provide breastfeeding advice to this day! Jenn was not only an excellent doula for us, she also became one of our friends.

Hiring a doula was a last minute decision for my husband and I.  He was deployed and was not going to be home for the birth, I wanted a natural birth so at about 30 weeks we decided to hire a doula.  We interviewed several doulas, and Jenn was the most prepared and the friendliest - she was the best fit for us.

Jenn did two in home visits prior to my delivery during which we went over relaxation techniques, developed my birth plan, and discussed any worries or questions that I had.  I absolutly felt like I couldn't have been more prepared for the birth of my son.

My labor was long, 30 some hours total, and Jenn was there with me from the moment I called until after little man made his entrance.  She served as my advocate with the providers on decisions to be made and worked extremely well with the hospital staff through out the whole process. Things did not go as planned and in the end I delivered by c-section, but Jenn truly made the whole delivery process managable and enjoyable. She empowered me to be comfortable with the natural process of birth and reassured me when thins didn't go according to plan. She was great and I don't know what we would have done with out her! We will definitly hire Jenn for future births!
