Hiring Lisa as our birth doula is one of the wisest investments we’ve made. As a first-time mom-to-be, I thought a doula would be helpful throughout preparations and delivery. My husband was agreeable, but didn’t feel strongly about having a doula. We both grossly under-estimated the role Lisa would play – and ours was a pretty normal, intervention-free birth. Lisa is warm, knowledgeable, and straightforward. She has a very diverse breadth of experience: in our case, she used that to help us reposition the baby through a practice commonly used in another culture. Lisa was available, quick to respond, and by our side at the hospital moments after we arrived. We won’t hesitate to hire her again, should we decide to have another baby in the future.

I've known Lisa for a number of years. She is a strong, wise, loving, kind woman with so much to offer the laboring mama! When I found out I was pregnant, I wanted her to attend the birth because of all that and more. In the months leading up to the big day she was very helpful. She answered questions, gave us information, and encouraged me through every bump. Having prelabored for about 2 weeks, she was a huge help keeping me calm and helping me remember that baby would come when she was ready. When my partner finally called her to let her know things had picked up, for real! She was quick to respond and arrived at our house to lend an ear, a hand, and simply just be present. We labored at home for a number of hours before heading to the hospital and throughout that time she encouraged movement as well as relaxation, massaged my throbbing hip and back, and kept a positive atmosphere. At the hospital, her support was constant! I cannot thank her enough for the hours of hip squeezing she did and positive encouragement she gave. My partner felt so thankful to have her there to remind him that things were progressing, no matter how slow it seemed, and that everything was happening as it should. He said there were a few moments where he began to freak out a little and she would smile and nod at him as if to say, "This is good! We're doing great!" Her support was such a key part to our successful, unmedicated vaginal birth! We loved working with her and encourage you to meet her and see for yourself, the awesomeness that it Lisa Willms!

Lisa was my doula for the birth of my daughter Zoe and she was wonderful! Lisa and I used to work together,we worked together for at least five years and during that time,we formed a beautiful bond. It's hard not to do with Lisa!Leading up to my birth,I had a lot of anxiety. I don't handle pain well so I knew I was going to get an epidural but the early labor stage was no walk in the park and Lisa was so helpful. When I arrived at the hospital around ten at night, Lisa arrived minutes after I did and jumped right in massaging my lower back and helping me with my breathing. My mom was with me as well, however having adopted me, she was not familiar with labor or how to support me best in the moment. Lisa was! After I received my epidural, life was bliss for the next few hours. Even when I was resting, Lisa was very involved and was such an advocate for me whenever a nurse or doctor came in. When it came time to push, Lisa was right by my side, letting me attempt to crush all the bones in her fingers, putting wet wash cloths on my face and endlessly showering me with words of encouragement. Giving birth to my daughter was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and it was so amazing partially because I had such wonderful people around me. If I ever decide to have another baby, I would not ask any other doula to be by my side. Thanks Lisa!

While pregnant with baby number 4 I decided to hire a doula. I really wanted a drug free labor, after having a bad experience with an epirual and educating myself on the side effects of pain meds. These thoughts led me to Lisa! Lisa was great from day 1. She responded quickly to my original email and she came out to my house for a prenatal visit where we got to meet one another and I got to share my thoughts on labor and birth with her. As my due date loomed closer she kept in contact with me and sent me some useful info which I believed helped to get my baby in the proper position for birth. When my contractions started coming and going randomly for 2 days I alerted Lisa and knew that she would be there when I needed her. My time of need of course came in the middle of the night! Lisa showed up at the hospital just minutes after my husband and I did. She immediately began assisting me with the contractions via massage of my lower back and hip compressions. She also encouraged me to make deep low sounds during the contractions which proved to be very helpful, and I believe helped speed up the entire process. After 3 hours of being at the hospital my beautiful daughter Meadow was born. Lisa was by my side the entire time massaging and encouraging me. She also helped remind me to keep my sounds deep and low as the pain got more intense. My husband was very happy that Lisa was there because the pressure was off of him! My husband is great, but when it comes to labor and delivery he gets a little overwhelmed. When it came time to push I held Lisa's hand and my husbands, and am amazed I didn't break any bones in their hands! Once Meadow came out Lisa was quick to grab a camera and captured some great candid photos of our first meeting with one another. Hiring Lisa was a great decision and I would recomend her to anyone! She really did help make my dream of a drug free birth a reality!
