Sarah Heselton was the best birth worker we have ever had. Her professionalism is complimented well by her overall caring and friendly nature. She is able to remain flexible and stay true to each client's comfort level. This is a characteristic that seems difficult to find as many midwives and doulas have one set idea on how to be helpful and stick to it even if it's out of the client's comfort level. I would have her as a doula anytime.
I found Sara through Facebook, "Life's Blessings" after a long search for someone to encapsulate my placenta. While still unsure if I wanted to move forward with the encapsulation, she presented me with the benefits and I chose to move forward with the process. I must say, it was the best decision! My milk supply has increased... My nerves are calm and they even help with my fussy baby. Sara was very professional... Quick turn around with getting my capsules back to me and made a keepsake from the umbilical cord. Knowing I don't want to leave the house with a newborn, she even hand delivered me my finished product. I would highly recommend Sara for all of your Doula services and placenta encapsulation needs! 5*****!!!
Sarah's input during our labor and delivery was invaluable and my husband and I will always be grateful for her help. Sarah was actually the back-up doula for us and we ended up needing her services when our original doula happend to be busy assisting another client and I went into labor a week early. Sarah came to the hospital at a moment's notice. Sarah listened to what we wanted for our birth experience and she provided information, but did not push any agenda. She had an intuition for when to provide assistance and when to step back and let my husband and me rest or discuss something. During the labor, when I was on an epidural, she provided great ideas for positioning so that I could progress rapidly enough to avoid a c-section. With her techniques, I felt like I was able to progress extremely quickly. Once I was ready to start pushing, Sarah talked us through the process. She then provided positive and encouraging coaching while I pushed. Unfortuanately, the baby's head was turned at a difficult angle and after four and a half hours of pushing, we - doctors, nurses, and all - agreed that the baby was not going to be able to move through the birth canal. We had wanted to avoid a c-section, but at the same time, we knew it was medically necessary. Sarah's coaching and everything that we tried together during the labor gave us confidence in this fact. Despite the difficulty of the situation, we could rest easily, that it was the best and only choice. Sarah stayed with my husband and me durning the unexpected c-section and continued to provide support during the early recovery. I would definitely recommend Sarah to anyone wanting council and support during one of the most important days of their lives.
Sarah was very communicative and thoughtful as our doula. We contacted her late in the game (around 35 weeks) and she was willing to work with our schedule and budget. She kept us informed of her traveling and other important details, and said she would even come back from out of town if I went into labor. She had lots of ideas for having a successful natural birth. I was set to deliver at a birth center, but my plans changed around 40 weeks and I had to switch to a hospital. Sarah was supportive and encouraging and that all would work out. My birth ended up being very fast -- we were only at the hospital an hour before delivery! So we didn't have a lot of time to experience her labor support, but Sarah was very helpful during the time she was there, and she helped keep my husband and me calm and level-headed during pushing and birth. I highly recommend her as a labor doula.
Sarah is amazing. From the moment I hired her I knew it was the right choice. She is so knowledgeable, sweet, and smart. She answered all my questions in a timely manner. Sarah was always there for me through phone, email, text etc. Our meetings were always a learning experience. She understood what I wanted. During my labor she really helped my husband and I. He felt he knew what to do under her guidance. I would recommend Sarah to any woman that wants a doula that's supportive, intelligent, caring and loves her job as much as Sarah does.
I have 4 children and this last birth has been the first one I have had with a doula present. I wasn't sure how it would go as i've heard some doulas can be very opinionated and try to force their opinions on you and after already having 3 children I figure what could I possibly not know about giving birth? =] I was greatly surprised as once I started with Sarah. She never once tried to force her own opinion on me and in fact helped me learn that I (who am very, VERY afraid of needles) actually could give birth without an IV. She gave me information on anything I wanted to know more about and made herself available to me for questions at any time. I will say this has been the least stressful of all my births!!! Sarah Heselton has a very sweet personality and her calmness was very reassuring. If i was planning to have another one I would DEFINITELY have her with me again!!!!!!!!!
Sarah was a true asset to my birthing experience. she was helpful, knowledgable and comforting. she provided us with privacy when needed, but also was a great representative for us In dealing with the hospital staff. This was my 2nd birth & i was attempting a VBAC i really felt comforted knowing she was there to help guide me, at the same time she was wonderful about not swaying any decisions my husband & I made along the way, But would provide information as needed/requested. Although, after 27 hours of labor I ended up needing a c section, I still extremely glad she was there the whole time & she was waiting for us when we came out of the OR. She helped me establish a latch & begin BFing, as well as took some great family pics of us. I highly recommend enlisting her services!
Sarah was a great asset in the delivery room! My dad and husband were a big help but she is the one who suggested WHAT they could do to help. She had the bag of tricks that I and the other members of my support team just didn't have. She was a great source of info before I went into labor and has continued to be a good source after.
Sarah was my doula when I was pregnant with my youngest child. My due date was November 5th, but on October 14th I was admitted to the hospital with dangerously high blood pressure. Sarah came out to meet me at 2am and didn't leave my side until my son was delivered via emergency c-section, four days later. Due to my husband's job and the fact that I had two other young children at home there were times that Sarah was my complete support system. She was amazingly compassionate and she really helped make the situation not as scary. She asked all the questions that I had forgotten to ask while I was overwhelmed, she advocated for me, reassured me, kept my husband calm and our friends and family updated. Sarah went above and beyond and for that I will be eternally grateful. She is a wonderful doula and an amazing person, I would recommend Sarah to anyone. If you need a doula and you want someone who will give you all they've got, then Sarah is the doula for you.
