I had the pleasure of having Kim as our birth Doula for the birth of our twin girls. Kim came to meet with my husband and myself prior to our birth. We reviewed our birth plan and as a team she helped me develop a list of questions to ask my doctor. As a first time mom I was unsure what I should be asking my OBGYN to help assure that my birth plan was carried out. She was a huge support for both my husband and myself during the entire process. We ended up in the hospital for 82 hours when I was 36 weeks. We ended up being sent home but that was after trying to be induced. Kim was there to help navigate the process and advise us on what our options were. She helped keep us sane. At 38 weeks we went back into the hospital again to be induced. Kim met us up at the hospital once we got all signed in. She was a big help once labour started. She was there to help remind me to take deep breaths so I didn’t pass out. She was there to help us make informed decisions. She was a calming voice for both my husband and myself. She ran back and forth between rooms (as I delivered in the operating room) to make sure I had cold cloths for my forehead to keep my temperature down. Having Kim there helped me feel much more relaxed knowing there was someone there that knew the system to not only support me but support my husband. She kept reminding us both we were doing a great job. I would highly recommend Kim as a Doula! Thank you again Kim you are amazing and we were so lucky to have you as part of our birth story for our beautiful girls.

I signed up with Kim because I'd heard such great things about having a doula and I was having my baby on my own. Kim is a wealth of knowledge and she shared so much information with me I was happy to have her as my doula before I ever got to the delivery room. My son was breach with one foot down and despite all efforts to try to get him to turn he was a scheduled C-section. It was a great comfort to know that if something happened during delivery my support person would go with the baby and Kim would still be around for me. Kim helped enormously at the hospital as well because although no one mentioned it prior they would not leave my baby with me (even if he was in the bassinet!) unless there was an awake person in my room. My son had trouble nursing and Kim was there again. He ended up having a tongue tie fixed 10 days after he was born which was exactly what he needed although no one seemed to know that but Kim! I can't imagine finding a more caring and capable doula - Kim was always there when I needed her help.

I had no intention of using a doula for the birth of our daughter in 2014 and so I first came into contact with Kim as the instructor of our prenatal birthing class. She just sort of clicked with me and my husband throughout the classes, sharing very similar views about birth, staying after class to chat with me and even putting me in touch with people who could make my dream of a home birth a reality, as we live to far from the city to use our own home. When I went into premature labor three and a half weeks early, I was feeling overwhelmed and undersupported, as we had just moved here so had no friends or family close by, my husband had the misfortune of being incredibley sick at the time, and the early labor meant that I was having a hospital birth rather than the home birth I planned. I phoned Kim and she didn't even hesitate to drop her plans for the day and meet us at the hospital on very short notice to support us through the labor and delivery, giving my husband and I both peace of mind that we didn't have to get through this all on our own, we had someone very knowledgeable that we absolutely trusted looking out for us and our baby. Over the next week after my daughter was born, Kim stayed in touch with us, checking on our progress at the hospital and stopping by a couple times to help us with breastfeeding issues. She even offered to bring us food when I complained in passing about the hospitals idea of nutritious, balanced meals! We also saw Kim officially in her capacity as a lactation consultant, and she was by far the best LC we had seen (and we had seen a few)! If you are looking for the best support and knowledge during the prenatal, labor and delivery, or postpartum periods, Kim is a phenomenal choice! I can't say enough good things about her!

I first met Kim at lll.  I was seeking support for breastfeeding  prior to having my son.  I had a reduction in 1997 and was worried about issues.   Kim and I talked alot about my situation.  When she informed me she was a doula I was interested  but my husband was a bit hesitant.   Kim met with us both and he then realized what  she could do for us.  So we continued on with Kim as our doula.  Sept 30th my water broke and we proceeded to the hospital.  They were going to send us home then changed their  minds.  Kim joined us once they enduced  me.  Which was something  I didn't want.  But here we were!   She was supportive of my birth plan and kept me as calm as she could.  I am a high strung type of  personality.  But it did not phase her at all.  She was so caring and encouraging through  everything.   The birth went smoothly.  Beckham was born on his due date!  Beautfiul handsome boy.  And we worked on our  breastfeeding right out of the gate!  Lots of trials and tribulations but we did what  we could.  There were other options for our situation but at the time my husband and I had different views.  This was our son and I had to consider  that it was not just about my wishes.  Kim did everything  she could within her practice of scope.  I really appreciated her time and effort.  And we have been friends since.  I respect  her more and more as I get to know her.  She is a wonderful mother and  friend.  And I will always be grateful for her support.  She still  supports me in my life in so many ways.  So yes I think if you need someone who is not only knowledgeable,  kind, loving and amazing at everything she does, then let her be your doula and a breastfeeding  support person.   I have no regrets! thanks Kim. :)

I had the pleasure of having Kim as my doula when I gave birth to my second son in 2010.  Throughout my pregnancy, Kim met with us to discuss our wishes for the birth.  I was seeing a midwife and was planning a hospital birth.  On November 25th, I had a midwife appointment in Fort Qu'appelle.  I was feeling some twinges, but nothing too serious was happening yet.  Later that evening, things started to progress and surges started to become stronger.  I relaxed in the tub at home for a few hours and was communicating with Kim the whole time.  Finally in the wee hours of the morning, I decided it was time to go into the hospital.  Kim met us there and was there with us the entire time.  She supported me physically as well as emotionally.  I felt empowered and encouraged that I could give birth to my son naturally, in any position I chose.  Haiden was born at 10:30 am on November 26th.  Kim stayed for awhile to make sure breastfeeding got off to a great start, encouraged me to try laid back breastfeeding and let my baby take the lead.  I went home that evening.  Kim and I stayed in touch via text message, and she came out a couple of times in the next week just to see how everything was going and how I was doing.  I would absolutely recommend Kim as a birth doula.
