Jenny provided my husband and I with excellent support before, during, and after birth. We walked into our birth with a wealth of knowledge from Jenny's hypnobabies class. That confidence allowed my husband and I to not be as stressed and anxious about our first birthing experience.
After almost 42 weeks of being pregnant, I was getting discouraged that my prodromal labor would never end. Jenny was quick to come over to my house to comfort me when I felt that I couldn't go on any longer. She sent me helpful websites and tips to make my contractions more manageable. Benji continued to call and text Jenny updates of what the Midwives were advising at our final doctor appointments. It was great to have another experienced ear to lend us support and remind us of our options.
It felt like Jenny got to the hospital in a flash as my contractions advanced. My back labor was excruciating but I was able to make it through because Jenny provided pressure and message in just the right places. As I labored in the water, she helped me to relax through contractions. As I think back to all the many positions we tried during labor, I have the vivid memory of Jenny's calm encouraging words. While I had full confidence in my midwife and nurse, it was nice to know that Jenny would be sure they stuck to my birth plan. As soon as Eli entered the world, Jenny helped me bond and guided me to a beautiful breastfeeding relationship. She even went out to pick up non-hospital food lunch for us.
After birth, she continued to encourage and support me with text, calls, and visits to be sure everything was going well. We had such a joyful, positive birth. We felt protected, loved, and supported during every step. We walked away from our birth empowered and I don't know if we would feel the same way had we not had Jenny there to help support and coach us.
Jenny was supportive and kept me and my husband calm through the entire process. My birth plan went actually MICH better than I ever imagined and I completly attribute that to Jenny Bennett. I am a FTM and we were able to labor at home with Jenny coaching me. We arrived to the hospital and my son was born 30 minutes later, no meds, no interventions. I cannot express enough how different my birthing experience would have been if it had not been for Jenny. She is an awesome person and an amazingly talented doula. She is a priceless resource before, during and after the birth of your baby. To this day I still ask her questions and my son is already over two months old! I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Jenny Bennett :) LOVE her!
Jenny was an amazing and extremely knowledgeable doula! She came to my house during early labor and helped me do some spinning babies exercises to encourage my baby to rotate, and it worked! Since I had back labor, she gave me counter pressure during nearly every pressure wave that I had until I reached the pushing stage of labor. Jenny was worth every penny spent, she was very encouraging and totally there for me during my whole labor. My labor and birth was very peaceful because I knew that Jenny and my husband had everything under control and all I had to do was get through each pressure wave. I will be using Jenny for all my future births.
Lettice and I (Matthew) share the belief that we could not have gotten through our first birth – and maintained our respective sanities – without the guidance of our doula, Jenny Bennett. Jenny served as a bedrock of support for us throughout the entire birthing process, offering us helpful tips, relevant literature, web links, and much-needed encouragement before, during, and after the birth of our first child. From the outset of our relationship with Jenny, she met us with respect, kindness, and an open ear to listen to any possible concerns or questions we may have had regarding Lettice’s pregnancy and impending childbirth.
Above all else, what stood out for us were the ways in which Jenny demonstrated unwavering support for us during Lettice’s birthing time. Lettice’s birthing time lasted a little over sixteen hours, with her pressure waves shrinking to three-minute intervals very early on. Six or seven hours into her labor, the frequency and intensity of the waves began to push the limits of Lettice’s physical and mental endurance. Naturally, Lettice started to feel discouraged by the seemingly slow progression of her birthing process.
However, it was during moments like these, when there was no clear “finish line” in sight, when Jenny provided just the right touch of motivation (and honey sticks!) to nourish Lettice’s spirits. Jenny’s soothing words of encouragement and discomfort-reducing strategies proved invaluable, for they bolstered our morale as the hours gradually rolled off the clock. “We don’t birth by numbers; we trust our bodies!” she would remind Lettice from time to time. Ultimately, it was Jenny who made the biggest difference in the welcoming of our son, Blair-David, into the world. Lettice and I are forever grateful for her warmth and compassion, and we would gladly recommend her services to anyone considering doula services.
Jenny is awesome! Not only is she an amazing doula, she was our Hypnobabies coach. We had a very fast and easy labor and I believe that was due in great part to our Hypnobabies training by Jenny and her level head at the hospital.
Throughout the pregnancy she sent us reminder emails with where we were in our birth training. She also kept in touch with birthing encouragement, various informative sites and even the occasional funny youtube video. :)
On our birth day she came to the rescue! When we got to the hospital we had started to freak out because of the speed of my oncoming birthing pressures. She calmed us down, refocused us on our Hypnobabies training, found the nurses who had gone M.I.A., reminded us of different laboring positions that helped tremendously and helped us "break the rules" when we found ourselves in active labor IN THE TRIAGE ROOM! She also talked to the family and gave them birth details to entertain them while we were bonding with baby and establishing breastfeeding.
After we got home and settled in Jenny was still there for us. She encouraged me follow my mommy instincts and was always available to call or text when I was getting a little bluesy or had questions. I believe the fact that she's a mother of two made her even more sympathetic and understanding.
Our baby girl was born with no medication, no interventions and no cutting or stitches. Jenny always told me to picture the birth I desired and it was just that, natural and stress free. I overheard my husband telling a friend "it wasn't anything like you see in the movies!" :) If that isn't a testament I don't know what is. She helped us get the peaceful birth we desired and we couldn't be more thankful. Thank you Jenny!
Jenny was incredicble the entire time! First she recommended Hypnobabies from her own experience of birthing two babies with this birthing method. We discussed the pros and cons of Hypnobirthing vs other natural methods as well as a medicated birth. She gave me enough information so that I could make an informed decision for my family.
When it came time for labor, she was with me the entire 48 hours. I labored at home with my husband and she would call in... I didn't need her to come to the house, only when we got to the hospital. She came to the hospital at 3:30 am on May 4th when we were checking in and helped get me through my pressure waves throughout the morning. She was a tremendous help to my husband as well. She would suggest different positions to help me progress, was an advocate when we needed guidance in making decisions, and was a great cheerleader to get us through the tough moments.
Our baby wasn't born until 11:34 pm that same evening and we needed Jenny's support throughout that entire day. It was exhausting for everyone but she helped keep my energy up and encouraged us to keep going. In the end we did have an epidural after 45 hours of natural child birth...it helped with the last three hours of pushing. And Jenny new that we needed to go in that direction after such a lengthy process, we were hitting fatigue and starting to get discouraged. She did a great job refocusing our thoughts.
I'm thrilled she was there for me and my husband and will ask her to be there again when we have our next child in two years. Thank you Jenny!!!!!
