I have been a teacher since 1998 and bring flexiblity, love of children, love of parents, and a desire to help families to my new chosen career path and to birthing families. I am an asset to families who choose me as their doula. I am an Open Arms doula. I have extensive experience working with clients from around the world. It is my goal to help clients get their cultural needs and desires met when birthing. If you have cultural needs/reqirements/desires which may seem difficult to communicate to your providers I, I can assist you in getting those needs met. My passion is that every woman be heard and served in a way that meets their needs. Many of my clients who are new to the U.S. have said that I was able to bridge the gap between the U.S. culture and their own, making their birth an amazing experience and helping them get through not having family with them during the birth and postpartum period.

We met Christi at the beginning of our pregnancy and cannot recommend her and her team highly enough. The services offered were over and above our expectations.
Christi is an excellent judge of character and knew exactly what would work for us during birth. She effectively communicated with the medical staff and advocated for my birth plan wishes. She was also of great support for my partner, offering great advice with compasion and humor.
We also attended their childbirth classes, which were very professional, well explained and presented with hands on interactive exercises. It helped a lot in preparing for birth and baby.
During postpartum, Christi answered so many questions and gave us lots of practical advice and recommendations. I can confidently say that it was way more helpful than what we got from the mother&baby hospital postpartum checkups, lactation consultant and pediatrician.
We even have her on tape giving our little girl her first bath :)
We decided to hire a doula rather late in the game (think 3rd trimester), and were lucky that Christi was available!! She was the only doula we interviewed, but she was the perfect fit for us. Christi shared with us her background and philosophy on labor and delivery, and it matched exactly what we were looking for: support for my support people (my husband and mom). I needed someone in the room to help coach them how best to help me. Christi was excellent in checking in with me the weeks prior to delivery, and answered any questions I had. The day of, she was INCREDIBLE!! After 20 hours of labor, she was invaluable to our team; and she did exactly what she said she would do, coach my support team. Even my mom, who seemed hesitant about having a doula, raved about Christi and how helpful she was. I would highly recommend her and Emerald City Doulas, and if we have another, we will definitely be working with them again.
We first met Paula and Christi during Labor and Love, a course they offer to assist new parents with all the upcoming transitions. At first meet we felt super comfortable with them both. When my hubs got me post partum doula hours for Motehra day I couldn't have new more thrilled. We don't have any family nearby or much support so it was so wonderful to have Christi come and look after our little one. She is full of wisdom and knowledge and I couldn't put a price on the sense of comfort she gave me. I would highly recommend Emerald City Doulas and we will definitely be working with them again.
Christi joined us as our labor doula for the birth of our first child. We met her through Emerald City Doulas, and we can’t say enough positive things about the entire experience. Paula of Emerald City met with my husband and talked in detail about their services and exactly the kind of doula we would want. We interviewed three of their doulas, picked a back-up, and found the best fit with Christi. She was easy going and shared with us her birth stories and professional background. We appreciated that through her work history, she was always dedicated to helping others and often in difficult situations. Christi was committed to supporting the mom AND empowering the partner through the (potentially) many hours of labor. She definitely views a doula as part of the team. Pre-labor, we discussed the various steps of labor and scenarios should medical interventions be appropriate or necessary. For Plans A, B, C, etc, we practiced corresponding comfort techniques and talked through logistics. Christi spent just as much time teaching my husband as me. Because we were informed and would have her dedicated attention, we felt more comfortable and prepared for what might happen in the hospital. At the hospital, Christi’s experience and benefits really shined. She knew many of the hospital staff and was our interface with them throughout. We chose to hire a labor doula to add active physical (and emotional) support and a personal advocate to our medical team. Christi met all of those needs. We would highly recommend her and would add her to the team for the next little one.
Christi is awesome! She was covering for my birth doula and I was very nervous when I went into labor, because I never met Christi before. She answered my questions and kept in touch with me before I started feeling the contractions. When I asked her to come to my house, she came quickly and calmed us down. She allowed my husband to take on active role by instructing him step-by-step. When the active labor started we drove to the hospital and then she stayed throughout my labor. My husband was given breaks and she assured him. My husband couldn't handle me when I started pushing, then Christi took over and we accomplished it all drug free. My hubby and I were so overwhelmed when our baby was born that we didnt think about taking pics, but Christi made sure of it. Now looking back at those pics make us cry each time. She stayed and made sure we were okay then kept in touch with us with phone calls. After I came home I had concerns about breastfeeding and my edema. Christi came to my house and showed my hubby accupressure points to help with edema and milk supply. She helped me with pumping, breastfeeding and swaddling my baby. I was very concerned about my baby losing weight and she got me in touch with lact consultants instantly. We truly appreciate all her guidance and would love to work with her again.
My first delivery was 10 years ago at 5 1/2 months gestation and did not have any preparation. This time around, I took a birth class through Great Starts and BlissBorn series (hypnosis in birthing with Barbara Dailey, PhD, RN, cHT). I was referrered to Christi through Open Arms of Seattle. Christi is immediately approachable and warm, knowledgeable and reassuring. She is easily reachable and responsive. She has spot on intuition of how and when to give emotional and hands on support and guidance while allowing space for the mother and healthcare providers. She is highly attuned to needs of the father and gives support and suggestions at just the right moments. My heart is full of gratitude for Christi's presence. She's a rockstar.
For a first time mom, trying to have as natural a birth as possible, Christi was amazing help. She met with us about 3 times before the birth to discuss healthy practices for pregnancy, including stretches, accupressure and rebozo support. She was on-call and in touch right around my due date. With a few false alarms, she helped walk us through what was happening. Once we did feel like labor was imminent, she also suggested some great at-home laboring techniques and then met us at the birth center. Her support throughout the labor process was fantastic. She was supportive, offering great words of encouragement, new positions to labor in and helped coach my husband. She was there to provide popsicles, massage, compresses on my forehead and anything else that was needed. Her calming voice was so helpful and when I felt I needed pain meds, she told me that I was quite close to being able to push, which helped me decide to forgo the epidural (which I'm so glad I did). She worked great with the doctor and nurses and my husband. She even took pictures with her camera, edited the photos and provided them to us on a disk. We are so glad to have those images of our baby's entrance into the world! Post partum, Christi provided another three visits and helped me learn to use my breast pump, and discussed ways to care for myself, our baby and our relationship. She offered such great advice about what to watch out for in terms of post partum depression and things to watch out for in each other to ensure we're doing ok. She also offered a great suggestion for putting the baby to sleep once she was three months old, which we've been using ever since. Prior to that, it was a huge chore to get our baby to stay asleep once in her crib! The one thing I'd suggest her clients keep in mind is that Christ is a wealth of knowledge and you should let her know what you do/do not want her to focus on to use your time with her best. We are so happy we got to work with Christi!
Working with Christi was a truly wonderful experience. From the first meeting I knew that she would be a great fit for my husband and I. Christi’s compassion, acceptance, patience, and earnestness radiated through all of our interactions with her. Each meeting we had with Christi taught us so much about how our birthing experience might go, and what tools she could offer. She closely observed how my husband and I interacted and adapted her style to best meet the strengths of our partnership.
Christi’s passion for her work shown through on the day of our birth when she arrived in a rush of professionalism and expertise, within minutes she had a bath running, had sent my husband off for a much needed break and took charge of guiding me through my contractions. I don’t know what we would have done without her support. Christi stayed with us through the birth and after, helping to transition us into parenthood and helping to coordinate our eager family visitors. When it comes time for us to welcome our next little one into the world we will absolutely call upon Christi again to help us through.
Though my pregnancy situation was very complicated, my wounderful doula, Christi did perfect job for me.
The process of getting know each other was very fun and important. From the very beggining Chrisiti was so open about her life experience which I appreciated most.
The actual deliverly day was the greatest day of my life thanks to Christi. She treated me as VIP! She can handle any perticuler request of mine! She provided all I needed before and after deliverly, too.
I highly recommned you let Chiristi join the wouderful moment of your life!
Christi was immediately available to help us last minute, I was 10 days past my due date when we decided to look into finding a doula for support. I had committed myself to having a natural labor with no interventions, but because I was past due I was becoming very anxious and weary. Christi made herself available, even on such a short notice. She was able to meet with us on the same day that we contacted her, and during the visit she started asking us questions and giving us information and treated us like clients before we even agreed to hire her for her services. She truly went above and beyond our expectations.
Christi gave us peace of mind to wait for labor to start naturally instead of scheduling inducement, and checked in with us several times. The moment I went into labor she came as soon as we asked her to, and showed up at our house before we left for the hospital.
When we were at the hospital and I was in the late stages of labor, there were several moments of panic when I wanted to give up and get an epidural and her soothing voice reassured me that everything was happening as intended and that things were progressing well. Since my mother was unable to be there for me, her feminine nurturing nature really soothed me and gave me a much needed comfort. It was a blessing to have her there and to share this experience with her. Christi stayed a few hours after the delivery to ensure that the baby and I were doing okay.
All I can say is that Christi was a blessing to have with us during the short time that we needed her. She helped prepare us so that I was able to be there and support my wife during labor and really be that support she needed. There was no greater feeling than being able to hold and comfort my wife with the various poses and positions that Christi showed us to alleviate labor pains. Her knowledge of everything seemed to never end, and it helped us create incredible memories.
Well, what I can say about Christi….. She is awesome and extra ordinary helping during childbirth. Since it was my first time having my baby delivered, I was so nervous thinking about my labor. However, with the presence of Christi, I found it a lot easier than my expectation. During my pregnancy, I heard a lot about doulas and their importance during labor. Plus, I saw their helping nature in the videos during childbirth class. So, I was wondering if I can get someone with whom I can feel comfortable. Fortunately, I met Christi as a backup doula just the day before my labor started. She is so punctual and exceptionally helpful throughout the period. She made my every step a lot easier either giving bunch of options or providing those methods that initiated my labor progressed. Once she gave me acupressure during the early labor, which was so relaxing, for which I can say that she is awesome at massaging. She is the one that I felt as my family member, just spending two days with her during my labor.
I definitely recommend her to my friends and family without any doubt on her and her skills.
I’ll begin by saying that Christi is fantastic, and I recommend her without reservation. She was wonderful.
Christi was unbelievably helpful during the birth. She worked incredibly hard. Once active labor began, Christi never left my wife’s side. She had a wonderful bedside manner: unobtrusive, yet right there whenever needed; kind and nonjudgmental- a lot of things happen during birth, some of them might be considered embarrassing to the modest, but Christi’s personality just makes her very easy to be around.
She was supportive and helpful at the times when we had to make decisions how to proceed. Decisions were always ours to make, and she never attempted to influence how we proceeded, but she made sure that we took the time needed to make decisions we were comfortable with.
I should mention that my daughter’s birth was the first time Christi acted as a doula. She had recently trained with Penny Simkin, and it was readily apparent that she was very prepared to help and passionate in this pursuit. We never had any reason to doubt her capabilities.
Christi was very knowledgeable in comforting my wife. A natural at massage with a great touch- she knows what she is doing. At our pre-birth meeting, she spent two hours massaging my wife and comforting her. Beyond massage, she is very knowledgeable and creative, practicing a wide variety of comfort techniques through active labor.
Everyone recognized that Christi was excellent. Our nurse, who had 35 years of experience delivering babies, commented that Christi was one of the best doulas that she had worked with.
Christi was amazing, and we absolutely plan to bring Christi in as our doula again as we plan to continue to expand our family. She was a joy to work with, and we are very happy we were able to find someone who was so wonderful during that very special experience.
