Hannah was AMAZING! Just amazing!

Our first birth was very complicated. We had a great relationship with our Dr and the nurses were great, but it was very tough. When we got pregnant again I was really nervous and knew I wanted some more help So...I asked my dr if she had worked with a doula she liked. She recommended Hannah. From our first meeting I knew we had found the right person. She was so warm, genuine, calm, encouraging, listened intently, and above all was knowledge and yet patient. We left the meeting excited, but slept on it and prayed. Together my husband and I decided to hire Hannah. BEST DECISION EVER! On our second meeting we went through labor position and what to expect. There was so much I didn't even know to ask about or research. Again...her vast wealth of knowledge was astounding. On our third meeting she helped me prepare frozen meals. In this way she has effected my life forever. I was always so afraid to try them and now I am able to prepare so many more meals for my family at home. She "didn't just catch us a fish, but taught me how." Then... labor. I went into labor July 3rd. If I didn't have her I know I would have gotten nervous and gone to the hospital by that night. She was so relaxed and calm and talked to me throughout the 3rd and 4th. Even when labor stalled she gave me the confidence to wait and helped me assess our situation. She gave me a few exercises to try and move things along. They worked! I need to pause and say just how important it was to have her to call on and talk through those 2 days. I 100% believe I would need have been successfully with our plan of a natural unmedicated birth without her help over those 2 days. In the wee hours on July 5th our baby was born in the hospital with dare I say a fun labor experience? Her expertise came in to play there as well with positions and suggestions for my husband. She is absolutely AMAZING

Hannah was my doula for my fourth birth and 3rd VBAC. She helped me prenatally by helping me make freezer meals (we made like 29 meals it was crazy and awesome), she did a prenatal birth rehearsal where we talked about birth fears, helped hubby practice ways he could support me and we practiced a car birth (to alleviate one of my fears since I was traveling 2.5hrs to birth in Tennessee with a fourth baby!). She helped me find a birth preparation program that worked well for me. And she did a henna on my belly to celebrate me and new baby.

Then in labor she helped me decide when to leave my house in labor, traveled with me (carpool style) out of town for my birth, she got water, cool rag, helped hubby support me. Had all sorts of tools to aide in laboring if I had done so long enough to need them. Helped me get cleaned up and made me food to eat after birth (I'm alway ravenous after birth), checked on our breastfeeding... gave me a lovely foot rub after birth... and checked in on us after. Was there to process the birth and talk it out with someone with birth experience.

Hannah is amazing! She is knowledgeable about physiological birth, homebirth, hospital birth, natural birth, medicated birth interventions, and the rights of childbearing people! Highly recommend.

I don't have a big enough vocabulary to sing Hannah's praises properly. I moved to Huntsville more than halfway through my second pregnancy and was very intimidated by the maternity care offered in our area. Hannah and I hit it off right away and she eased many of my concerns with her wide breadth of knowledge and kind, easygoing manner.

Both my husband and I were both really impressed with Hannah's professionalism. We had hired a pair of doulas for my first pregnancy in a different state (both of whom were fantastic!), so we both figured we had all the tips and tricks we needed for our second birth, but I still wanted to hire a doula to help keep me focused during labor and delivery.

I didn't expect that Hannah would teach us so much. Visual aids, videos, hands-on techniques - you name it, Hannah had a suggestion for every question, every concern.  She's a natural teacher and nurturer, and has built a solid relationship with other birth professionals in the area. She and my OB don't just respect each other; they collaborate. In any place, that's ideal, but in Huntsville, it's crucial.

It's so obvious that Hannah loves what she does and genuinely cares about the families she works with. I'm happy to know her and would recommend her in a heartbeat! I can't imagine birthing without a doula, and Hannah is in a class by herself.

Having Hannah for a doula is amazing, comforting, inspiring, and more helpful than I was capable of imagining. From the support and confidence she gave us in our birthing decisions to the countless ways she helped us during the birth and after, her presence was simply priceless. On top of everything, she is a sincerely beautiful person and kind soul that we feel blessed to have had with us in our journey. If you’re pressed for time, that’s honestly all you need to know.

Hannah’s experience with local doctors and hospitals can help you decide on a location and provider to best meet your needs. She is smart and flexible, and if you are insecure or on the fence about your choices, I believe her breadth of knowledge will be perfect to help guide you and give you confidence in your decisions. You will never feel pressured, only supported.

At our birth, Hannah was invaluable. Having her support allowed us to relax and focus. She expertly and gently dealt with an on-call doctor (a risk we knowingly took) who was not ideal or completely supportive, which we believe is a major reason we were able to have the safe, healthy, and beautiful birth that we did. Not everything was what one might consider “ideal” (thanks for scooping our baby out of the tray when the doctor didn’t know where to put a baby not being born on a hospital bed, Hannah!) but having Hannah as our doula is one thing about which we can confidently say we would change absolutely nothing.

We are so grateful for Hannah and thankful not only for ourselves, but for all the lives she touches. If you choose her, I doubt you could regret it. Either way, I wish you all the best in your birthing journey!

PS – She is also a certified HypnoBabies Hypno-Doula, which I also, separately, highly recommend. It allowed me to be so calm that the nurses and doctor repeatedly commented on it and expressed disbelief that it was my first birth.

I had Hannah as my doula twice. My birth experiences were the best I could ever ask for and much of it was due to having Hannah as my doula. I truly believe she is the best doula in town and is worth her weight in gold. I know my birth experiences would have been totally different if we hadn't had her as our doula. She is a God send.

I have had several positive experiences interacting with Hannah in the birth setting. She has always been extremely attentive to her clients needs, individualizing the support they receive while being very professional with other members of the healthcare team. She is a true client advocate, and has a large depth of knowledge related to birth and emotions related to pregnancy/postpartum. I would highly recommend her for anyone in the Huntsville area, especially for VBAC mamas.

I am so grateful for the support I received from Hannah during my pregnancy and birth. I had had a very difficult previous birth and Hannah helped me work through the emotional trauma and prepare to have a more positive experience. She had confidence in me to birth in peace and her confidence helped me gain confidence in myself. She gave me and my husband a lot of great tools and information in preparing for birth.  I had an amazing, joyful, peaceful home birth experience with Hannah as my doula and amazing midwives as my medical care providers. Hannah provided emotional support as well as physical comfort measures through my birthing time. Her postpartum support was also invaluable and she went above and beyond to support me, my family, and my baby. She's worth her weight in gold!

Hannah is wonderful. My wife and I contacted her after we learned she was pregnant with our first and Hannah has been a constant source of information and inspiration throughout the pregnancy. Hannah made 2 home visits to get to know my wife and learn what kind of labor she wanted and to do fun things for mama like aromatherapy and henna tattoos. She taught us a couple tricks with the rebozo to help support mama's belly and provide relief in her hips from the stretching of ligaments.

After waiting past due date for labor to begin spontaneously, she decided to induce at 40w6d. Hannah met us at the hospital at 6a on 6/23. The cytotec and pitocin were administered and no further effacement or dilation were seen as of 10p that night. She had been stuck at 3cm/80% all day. Hannah, recognizing that my wife was becoming frustrated and exhausted, suggested to us and the doctor that we get some rest that night and delay breaking the bag of waters until the morning. The nurse administered another dose of cytotec to continue ripening and we slept. Pitocin was readministered in the morning and it took hold. Contractions were coming regularly and intensely for my wife. Hannah had bean bags, birthing balls, soft floor mats, and the knowledge of how to use them to advance the labor and to help deal with the pain. After 5 hours, my wife was ready to request pain meds, but Hannah had one more technique to try - abdominal lifts. She walked us through it - I stand back to wall with wife in front and lift up and pull in during 10 straight contractions - and it wasn't 30 minutes before the baby arrived. My wife went from 3cm to birth in 5 hours of labor. She credits Hannah with saving her from getting an epidural, holding out, and completing as close as possible the birth she wanted.

This is my 2k character limited attempt at describing just how wonderful is it to have a doula in your corner. If you are expecting, please give Hannah (Happy Helper Doula) a call.

Hannah is a fantastic doula! From our first 'get-to-know-you' meeting at Yogurt Mountain, the three visits before the birth, the very interesting and memorable birth experience (feel free to read about it on my blog at honeatravels.blogspot.com and find the "Birth In A Car" post from January, 2014), to the postpartum care she has offered, Hannah has been a true blessing to our family!  She takes the time to get to know her clients on a personal level in order to offer the most care and support she possibly can.  Her experience, kindness, skill, encouragement, and calm demeanor were exactly what I needed while laboring and giving birth to our baby girl.  Hannah Ellis has a heart-felt passion for helping mothers to achieve the birth experience they most desire.  Then she goes beyond the birth to gently assist with breastfeeding and postpartum care.  I have only admiration and love for this woman who has a servant's heart to help mothers and babies.  You should take the time to get to meet her!

If your searching for a kind, sincere, and all around wonderful doula look no further! I found Hannah at the end of my pregnancy and she was a God send for my husband and I. She knows her stuff well, and can answer any question or concerns you have for her earnstly and honestly. She is there for YOUR birth, she doesnt push you in any direction, but lets you tell her what your hopes and dreams are for the birth of your baby, and she will help you fullfill those dreams with so much love and compassion. If you want a natural birth, she supports you. If you want a epidural to help with pain, she supports YOU. As for me I went natural and told her just what I wanted and she even helped me write my birth plan. I knew I wanted everything natural, I wanted to be up and about to the end and she gave me ideas about what postions would be best and the things she could do to help me relax and truly enjoy my birth experience. Even when things went wrong and my sons blood pressure was dropping dramatically, I couldnt get out of the bed, had to switch from side to side to try and get my baby oxygen...she kept me informed on exactly what was going on. I was in a great deal of pain and she help me feel "connected" to this world when everything was falling apart around me. My son ended up have a "true knot" in his cord that was preventing oxygen from reaching him. Today he is a healty and thrieving 3 month old and I cant express how much Hannahs help meant to my family. Even the days following in the hospital she would come visit and check up on me. She would be a fantastic asset to your family during the joyous time of your pregnancy, birth and postpartum time. Whenever I have another child I will not hesitate to call upon her again to be my doula!

Hannah Ellis was SUCH a blessing during my daughter's birth. My labor was extremely long and difficult, but Hannah was there from the beginning (early morning) to the end (late night). She was an amazing physical and emotional support!

There were times I was just too exhausted to sit up and push, but she was literally behind me--holding me up--nearly the entire laboring process! With all the physical work she exerted, she should have been able to take a baby home too! ;-)

She also was a big part of my emotional support. She kept speaking encouraging words into my ear the whole time. Even when it looked really bleak (when I {and others} thought I may need to be transfered to a local hospital for a c-section), she not only told me I COULD do it, but she BELIEVED I could do it. She also wasn't just a huge support to me, but also to my husband. He has said several times, "I really just don't know if I could have done it without her there!"

Hannah has a true passion for assisting laboring mothers to labor the way the mother desires to birth her child, but she also has a true talent for assisting with love, patience, empathy, and boldness! I will definitely be using her for my next birth!
