My husband and I don’t have any family in the area. Since this was our first child, it was important to us to have someone help walk us through the intimidating birthing process. We interviewed 4 doulas before we chose Kaylie. Kaylie was professional, assertive, and compassionate. She is someone both my husband and I felt very comfortable around…and she laughed at my husband’s corny jokes.

The whole point of having a doula was to have someone help guide you through everything, even the initial visit. The other doulas we talked to basically had a “what questions do you have for me” approach where Kaylie helped guide us through things that I wouldn’t have known to ask.

Originally I had planned on attempting an unmediated birth and laboring at home as long as possible. That didn’t happen. I was admitted to the hospital pretty quickly. Kaylie meet us as the hospital pretty much as soon as we got there…did I mention things were progressing quickly. The rest of my birth experience is a bit hazy. Here’s what I do remember. Kaylie holding my leg for what seemed like forever…in reality it was probably 1-2 hours. I apparently keep my tension in my shoulders. Kaylie reminded me every time after pushing with every contraction to relax them. In general Kaylie was by my side the whole time offering support to both my husband and I. She was amazing!

No matter how many books you read or classes you attend, you will never been fully ready for what happens when you get home. I am so grateful for Kaylie’s post-partum visit. I had so many questions. Her visit was invaluable, especially with the breastfeeding questions (that was a major hurdle for us).

Having a doula was wonderful. Having Kaylie as our doula was just the support we needed. I have already recommended her to other of my soon to be mom friends. To sum up…Kaylie was amazing!

My husband and I were very happy with Kaylie from the start. For second-time parents we had forgotten some of our Bradley class knowledge… during our first in-home meeting she knew just what questions to ask to get us thinking and practicing for another natural birth.

And then Kaylie was so wonderful and helpful during my labor and our daughter’s birth. She was calm, attentive to both me and my husband, and seemed to sense just what I needed - whether a drink of water, encouragement, massage, a change of position, etc. She stayed with us until we were settled in our recovery room at the hospital, which was so helpful to me since my husband was attending to Baby… I also needed attending to!

The follow-up visit was great and really helped us process the birth and gave me the ‘conclusion’ that I needed.

Also, she is a mom and wonderful with toddlers. We have a 2.5 year old who was around for most of the visits. He now adores her and points her out in our birth photos with a big smile on his face.

Thank you Kaylie!

Kaylie was a huge help. I was a second-time mom who was searching for some refresher information and someone to assist me and my husband during labor as I attempted an unmedicated hospital birth.
She was professional from the start but friendly and warm also. She took the lead at our initial interview, looking at my address and intentionally choosing a location nearby, arriving at our interview early and with a printed contract and following up immediately afterwards. She was so gracious in accommodating my three-year-old's presence. She had the same professionalism and warmth when visiting our home and when she accompanied me to one of my appointments.
She arrived at the hospital while I was in active labor and gave me the push I needed to stick to my plan. She used encouraging and calming words and touches and patiently remained with us afterwards until she was sure we were doing well.
She came to our house a few days later to encapsulate my placenta. Kaylie was extremely thorough and professional with regards to cleanliness but also extremely open to sharing the process with me and my family. During the two day process she also used the time to talk with me about the birth and process how it went.
Overall Kaylie seemed very aware of what I needed from her and was willing to take a little more of a step back when she sensed I was doing fine - both during my labor and afterwards with breastfeeding and along the way when answering emails.
Additionally, I appreciated the modern and convenient options to pay using paypal and have documents electronically sent.

Kaylie is a wonderful, kind, nurturing person and doula! I hired Kaylie to help me with having a TOLAC/VBAC delivery for my second child, after having an emergency c-section with my first child. She provided helpful information about TOLAC/VBAC and other relevant topics. She met with us in our home, and my husband who I'd refer to as a "doula skeptic" was quickly won over with her warm personality and supportive attitude towards fathers. Kaylie was very easy to reach and keep in touch with as my due date drew near. She fielded and responded quickly to many e-mails I sent with questions, asked her to review my birth plan, recap OB visits, etc. When I went into labor she stayed in close touch via supportive text messages. Per our request, she met us at the hospital. She provided and participated with many strategies for moving along my labor and was particularly helpful with navigating the overwhelming and varying information given to us from the medical personnel who were involved. Unfortunately, my labor did not progress in a way that allowed for a vaginal delivery, and Kaylie helped with some difficult decision-making about trying interventions that were suggested. Ultimately, after many hours of labor she was incredibly supportive of my decision for a repeat c-section. While she could not come into the operating room due to hospital rules, she was there when I returned to my room and helped with breastfeeding and recovery. I also had Kaylie prepare the placenta into pills to take in the postpartum period. It was very reassuring to have her come to our home during the week after I gave birth, and we visited while she prepared the placenta and made it into pills. I am very glad that I chose Kaylie to support us in our birth. My husband also expressed his gratitude that she had been there with us. I would recommend Kaylie to anyone who is considering hiring a doula.

As a first time mom, I spent months and months reading and researching everything about pregnacy and childbirth that I could find. Through my research, I found that medical intervention often occured when not necessary. Because of this, I knew I wanted to higher a doula to have an advocate for me and my baby in the delivery room. I first met Kaylie over a video chat and I felt like I had known her for a lot longer than the few minutes we spoke. I immediately felt comfortable with Kaylie and the comfort level grew as we met in person throughout my pregancy. Kaylie excudes an calm energy that really helped me dismiss the "what-ifs" scenerios and set my mind at ease that everything I was experiencing was normal. She was always available to answer my questions, no matter how trivial they seemed, and would share research as well as personal experience as an answer. Her level of professionalism combined with a calming presence was just what I wanted in the birth room. Additionally, she worked well with my husband to help coach me through the pain of contractions and always let us make our own decisions during the birth process. Kaylie was wonderful to work with and someone who I consider special to our family as she was such a big part of our daughter's birth. I've recommended her to many pregnant friends and will be calling her as soon as I find out I'm pregnant again.

Honestly, I don't even know where to begin. From the prenatal home visits to the actual day that I went into labor, Kaylie was a incredible and amazing doula to have. She is extremely knowledgable (loved the cervix models she brought to show us dilation), her spirit is comforting (every time I saw her I felt calm & confident) and she is very professional.

I hired Kaylie because I wanted to have a vaginal delivery, in comparison to all the women in my entire family who have had cesarean sections. She provided me with articles and videos to help me prepare for my birth day. We also discussed the best options for my birth plan.

On March 15, 2015 she helped me deliver my first child, a healthy baby boy through not only vaginally but a NON-MEDICATED vaginal delivery! I am incredibly grateful for Kaylie in ways that I could never repay her for. I began contractions and was in (early) labor with her constantly checking on me & asking if I needed her, for a day and a half. After consulting with her and we felt like it was time to go to the hospital, she met us at the there right away. As soon as I saw her, once again she just brought such an amazing and empowering vibe that I knew it was go time! 8 Hours later he was born!!!

She supported my hypnobirthing, applied counter pressure for the pain, refilled my water bottle like a million times, and even hung up my birth affirmations banner for me. She also supported my boyfriend and mother by guiding them to help me get through contractions, everyone worked together amazingly! My entire family, which by complete surprise I had alot of family present :) were really impressed by what Kaylie did for me and couldn't stop talking about their experience watching it all!

I could go on and on because my birth day was the best day of my life....I will end by saying that Kaylie has and always will have a special place in my heart for her!!!

Our experience with Kaylie was invaluable, she is an incredible doula and wonderful person. We had three learning sessions with her before the labor. We opted for an extra session instead of taking a birthing class, and we were very happy and statisfied with the information she provided us with. Kaylie is very organized and attentive, and made us feel completely at ease with every question or concern we had leading up to the birth. I was 11 days late, and throughout this time, she was always available for me, to listen, give advice, and keep me grounded, even when I was worried about being pregnant forever. The night before I went into labor, we had a long talk and she helped me relax, feel better, and stay focused. When I went into labor, she arrived shortly after we called her, which was very early in the morning, and she stayed with us for 40 hours! It was a marathon labor and an unexpected turn of events which lead to very hard delivery, but she was there every step of the way making both of us feel as comfortable as possible. After we left the hospital, she visited us again for a post parturm visit, and then we decided to have her encapsulate the placenta, which was a two day process (and very impressive to watch). Kaylie is very skilled and detailed in this art, and I recommend that everyone consider this service, as the pills are very helpful.

At the beginning of the pregnancy we thought we would not need a doula, but as time went on, we decided that this was maybe not best idea, and we needed someone who was more experienced with labor and delivery to take the journey with us. This was the smartest decision we have ever made. Not only is Kaylie a fantastic doula, but she has now become a wonderful friend. Thank you Kaylie for everything you have done for us. You will forever be an important part of our family, and be present for every birth we decide to have this day forward. We couldn't, and wouldn't want, to do it without you.

Our experience with Kaylie was invaluable. The initial 2 hour home visit was more educational than the childbirth, baby care and breastfeeding classes we took through the hospital. Kaylie covered everything from pregnancy through breastfeeding and really helped us understand what to expect in the hospital regarding decisions during labor and after birth. I felt so at ease after our home visit because I felt, for the first time, like I had a grasp on what to expect and what my options were. Kaylie empowered me to take ownership of my delivery and the decisions following the birth of our son. She helped me understand all the various procedures the hospital could offer, what they were and why they're done. Most importantly, Kaylie explained to us what our options were from the moment we walked through the doors of the hospital until we left with our precious bundle.

During my labor Kaylie was a great support. Although my husband was wonderful and by my side the entire time, Kaylie was really good at helping me stay centered, relaxed and hydrated. She knew when I was tense even when I thought I was relaxed and walked me through HOW to relax. I cannot explain in words how helpful that was. Kaylie knew when to make her presence known up and when to fade in to the background. She was my eyes and ears in the delivery room so my husband and I could focus on bringing our son in to the world. I had full trust in Kaylie that she had my family's best interest in mind throughout the entire process and we will always cherish the photos she captured of our son entering the world.

Kaylie was our doula for the birth of my son on November 5, 2014.  As a first time mom, I really had no idea what to expect from labor, and I was thrilled to have Kaylie to work with throughout the process.

What I loved the most about Kaylie was that I didn't feel judged or pushed in a particular direction.  Instead, she listened to me and my husband, and helped guide us based on the feedback we provided.  I wanted to try an unmedicated birth, but made it clear that I was going to see how things went when I actually started labor.  Kaylie met with us twice prior to my due date, and gave us great tips for natural pain management and relaxation.  She also walked through scenarios for challenges we might experience leading up to delivery, and how we could navigate them.  In the weeks leading up to my due date, I kept Kaylie posted on how my doctor's appointments were going, and she was always really encouraging and seemed excited for us, which made me even more excited to meet our son!

Nine days before my due date, my water broke on its own.  When I didn't start labor naturally, I was induced.  I'm proud to say that, with Kaylie's guidance and advice for how to manage the pain, I labored naturally for 13-14 hours with pitocin, before I opted for the epidural due to exhaustion and lack of progress.  I'm so thankful I ended up with the epidural because it allowed my body to relax and after a 3-4 hour nap, I woke up ready to push (and avoided a C-section, which was my main priority).  Kaylie was incredibly supportive and made sure I was making coherant decisions and not coming from a place of fear, which I really appreciated.  I'm so thankful that we worked with her, and hope to again if/when we decide to have a second baby.  Thanks, Kaylie! :)

Kaylie was my doula for the birth of my son on Nov 19, 2014. She was an invaluable resource for my birth experience.

During my pregnancy she provided me with many beneficial resources and answered all my questions, worries and concerns. She gave me the materials I needed to make informed decisions about my birth and she was very supportive of all of them. She really has a way to make people feel at ease and comfortable around her.

During my labor she was the calm voice I needed to cheer me on. At times, the midwives or nurses would talk to me using medical terms and she would help by translating for me in a way that I would understand. It was nice just knowing she was by my side and supportive of all my decisions.  She knows lots of different labor positions. I beleive that this is what made my labor progress nice and smoothly. She and my husband made a great team. He was nervous about the whole situation and she helped direct him where to massage me and what things that might be nice for him to say to me.

I ended up having a successful, drug - free, VBAC with my 11+ pound baby boy. It was truly an amazing experience. I can honestly say that hiring Kaylie for our doula was one of the best decisions we have  ever made. I am so grateful that she was able to share and go along on my pregnancy/birth journey with me and my family.

Being as this was my first child, and had to make decisions with limited knowldge about how I wanted to deliver my child and what would be best for both myself and my husband, I am so glad that Kaylie was one of my decisions. I ended up hiring her a few weeks out from my due date due to my circumstances so we were not able to spend as much time together prior to the birth of my child as we wanted to. Due to circumstances outside of our control we ended up meeting for the first time at the hospital and I felt like we had already spent time together. Kalie is a very personable women and therefore very easy to trust and get a long with.

Looking back at the day/night, I can't imagine myself or my husband geting through active labor without her assistance. My husband, while doing everything right, was exhausted and felt very overwhelmed by the time my contractions had picked up. Kaylie stepped in and provided the support that I needed as well as the support my husband needed. In additional to her knowledge in varios techniques to aid in relieving the pain of contractions, her touch and presense was overall very soothing. It was extremely helpful to have a women in the room with me that had already gone through labor and could tell me in confidence that I was going to get through the delivery.

My plan was to deliver my child without pain medications. Had Kaylie not been there and I was relying soley on my husband I may have given in and requested (demanded) pain medication. Kaylie was able to talk me down and keep me at a place, mentally, where I could push myself through each contraction.

In sum, Kaylie was a "must have" for the birth of my child and would hire her again for my second. I was able to stay committed to my birth plan and feel proud that I was able to accomplish what I had set out to do.

If rating a doula were based on a 5 star system, Kaylie would get 6! At the recommendation of friends, we opted for a doula with the expectation that it would be a helpful addition to our birthing experience, but not completely necessary.  Turns out, our baby came nearly a month early while my husband was out of town.  Kaylie didn't hesitate to make herself available even though we were outside of the timeline in our contract, and her assistance was essential to what ended up being a tough but positive birth experience. We didn't get to have our second prenatal visit, but we spent plenty of time together over the 50 hours I was in labor at the hospital. Our birth preferences more or less went out the window as the hours went by, but Kaylie stuck with us and helped us understand the implications of the decisions we had to make to keep everyone healthy.  Thankfully, we managed to deliver vaginally, and I'm confident that I wouldn't have felt as good about my decisions or had the strength to push through had Kaylie not been there. Kaylie is positive, reassuring, skilled and attentive all while being realistic and calm in difficult situations where expectations and tensions run high.  She also captured some beautiful moments in photographs that I'm thankful to have, and she's been helpful with resources on prenatal and postpartum issues as they arise. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula!

I highly recommend Kaylie to anyone looking for a relaxed, organized, and down to earth doula.

My husband and I acquired Kaylie as our doula for the birth of our first child. We had a few specific concerns for the hospital birth that we thought a doula could help us with. What I didn't anticipate was how much extra help and support she would offer! Working with Kaylie was an amazing experience all around. From the initial consultation to the post partum follow up, she generously shared her time and expertise.

The areas that Kaylie benefitted us the most were,

1: Asking us questions about scenarios we hadn't considered, and going through the possibilities so we would be prepared and well informed.

2: Being 100% calm during the labor. This was particularly helpful in reminding me that everything I was experiencing was normal and okay. Mentally she helped me stay in a good place.

3: Giving my husband the back up he needed to feel confident. He was nervous going into the labor, and did not want to witness the actual delivery. Kaylie was very encouraging during the pushing stage since my husband wasn't watching. After the birth he said "I'm so glad we had a doula and I didn't have to be there alone to support you. She helped me do the right things for you, and I didn't feel as much pressure."

4: Reminding me of my birth plan during labor, in exactly the way we had discussed.

5: Being available. She let us know anytime she was going out of town and provided alternative contact information. I loved how organized she was in this regard! Towards the end of my pregnancy she continually checked in on my doctor's appointments and how I was feeling phsycially and emotionally. I really felt like she was there for me every step of the way, and that she was excited with me.
