For a family who has fear or uncertainty about birth and their preferences surrounding birth, the first thing I’d recommend doing is hiring a doula. We hired Cindy after realizing that we are the type of people who need a strong advocate in the birth process. My husband has very little knowledge about anything medical and also has a lot of anxiety during labor due to a few hard experiences we’d previously had with our other deliveries so he is not the best advocate for my wishes and also is unable to help me make decisions. Unfortunately our births have always had some complications and have required us to make some decisions. From the moment we got to the hospital, Cindy was explaining everything, helping me figure out what I wanted to do, and offering advice from her huge amounts of knowledge and experience. When I had back pain, she offered maneuvers to help. She kept me hydrated. She helped us figure out when to go to the hospital. When we realized my baby needed help coming out, she helped me make a few big decisions and supported me fully. She taught me how to push and encouraged me when it seemed I had no strength left. She made sure my husband knew what was going on and offered him ways to contribute and help me. Looking back, I don’t know that I would’ve been able to have the vbac I desired so much without the help of Cindy. Her support and confidence in me made me feel empowered and I’m so happy to say to got my vbac!

We began searching for a doula the moment my partner and I had the conversation of what kind of support he would actually be able to provide during the birth process.  My partner was fully transparent with me that he didn't like the sight of blood and feared hostpitals.  While I respected his honesty, I also knew that I needed to have someone by my side throughout the entire birth to "walk with me" through the motions.  Particularly, since I wanted a natural birth.  We found PD Love through our birthing class.  Cindy was actually serving as a back up since the doula we hired had a vacation scheduled when I was at 39 weeks.  We definitely didn't anticipate going into labor early in the 39th week for a first time pregnancy.  We met Cindy through our doula, and after meeting her my partner and I secretly hoped that we would get to work with her as we were so impressed with her knowledge and professionalism.  My water broke at 39 weeks, the day our hired doula was leaving for vacation.  Cindy stepped in and was phenomenal.  She met us at the hospital and immediately assisted in getting active labor started.  With her knowledge and foresight, we were able to avoid medical induction.  Active labor began within the hour and four hours later I was holding my first born son in my arms.  She advocated for us at the hospital, comforted when needed, and was even helpful in bringing me food and making the bed for my partner.  My partner and I still talk about how the doula fee was the best money we ever spent.  I got the birth I had hoped for, and am not sure I would have had the confidence for a natural birth without Cindy.  We hired her again for the birth of our second son this last September 2017.  I cannot say enough about her professionalism, knowledge, and warmth.  We are so grateful to have had her be a part of our births and would recommend her again and again.

I deperately needed a doula when I found out my husband would be deployed on my son's due date. A doula with robust experience was paramount to me. I interviewed several doulas and as soon as I interviewed Cindy...I knew she was the one! She exudes experience and confidence. She is proficient in not only the academic/research side of births, but also the spiritual and traditional side. I immediately felt calmed talking to her. She was exactly who I needed to help me through the birth of my first child. Normally, I think overnight before making big decisions like this, but with Cindy I hired her on the spot.

Cindy was very attentive and soothing during our pre-birth meetings. She was prompt and organized. She has a wealth of knowledge which I devoured. She was familiar with all of the major hospitals and their staff. She has attended babies born in all situations - water birth, Cesarean, complex, multiples, etc.

Cindy came through for me when my water broke and never went into labor. I was very upset and found comfort in talking it through with Cindy. When I decided to check into the hospital, she was right there with me and was there until I birthed my son via Cesarean the next day.

I am impressed with Cindy's work ethic and am touched she specializes in births to women who have had traumatic experiences. The fact that she taks a pro-bono case (usually a teen) every year speaks volumes about her character. Her passion is helping women and babies. I was so grateful to have Cindy there and I know I made the best decision.

I guarantee if you interview Cindy you will feel what I felt too and know that you are in good hands.

Thanks, Cindy, for squeezing my hand when I was in the labor tub and for drying my tears. Thanks for telling me I was making the right decisions. Thanks for distracting me during the Cesaraean until I saw my son.  Thanks for helping me through such a miraculous experience!

Our little one arrived almost five weeks early. We were unprepared in so many ways, but we had hired Cindy. We discovered that we didn’t need a crib, or a completed nursery, or even a stroller right away, but we did need an amazing doula.

For us Cindy offered a calm and knowledgeable presence throughout the birth and in the weeks following the arrival of our little guy. With Cindy’s support and our Hypnobabies tools, we had a beautiful, peaceful birth experience. And in the weeks following, Cindy was available to answer our random questions and be the cheerleader we needed as we struggled with breastfeeding, jaundice and other preemie-related challenges.

There are so many things that new parents really don’t need, but we are totally convinced that investing in a doula is essential, and Cindy was the perfect fit for us.

My husband and I hired Cindy for the birth of our first child. Cindy was so easy to talk to, kind, compassionate and knowledgable - we felt comfortable with her from our first interview and learnt so much from her during our prenatal visits. We had a long labor and throughout felt like we had the best support from Cindy, she patiently worked with us and helped us make informed decisions and I can't imagine having done it without her. Cindy's visits after our birth were a wonderful chance to talk about being a new parent and share our excitement and love for our newborn. We loved Cindy and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to other parents.

Cindy was a warm, wise presence in our childbirth experience, from prenatal counseling through the birth and afterwards. With her calming influence, I was able to bring our daughter into the world without pain medication and with strength I did not even know I had in me... She also managed to be part of the team while making sure my husband had a crucial role in keeping me focused and energized. She was a great advocate for us in the hospital, with both our doctor and nurse later commenting that she was excellent to work with and really good at what she does. Cindy was also an amazing and trustworthy resource for information regarding pregnancy and newborn care. We cannot recommend her any more highly.
