I hired meg from Bella Luna Birth Services to be my Doula for the birth of my third son. I didn't have the experiences I wanted with my first two children so I decided to hire a Doula. From the moment I met Meg I felt a positive connection and I knew she was the perfect person to be present at my birth. She always responded to my calls and texts in a timely manner even for the silliest questions. This gave me a sense of comfort that I had someone to communicate with that understood. My son was born very quickly Meg had just arrived to the hospital in time for his birth. After his birth she was an instrumental part of my healing. She made sure I (the mom) was being taken care of including a bath and food in my stomach. In the past with my other two children after they were born everything became about them which was great but I had just given birth to them I needed things myself. Meg ensured I had what I needed and felt validated for everything I was feeling. I am forever grateful for her role in my recovery from giving birth. Far to often mothers don't take care of themselves especially in the post partum period. I am thankfully that she assisted me in taking care of myself and taught me that I should make myself a priority.

Meg was absolutely amazing before, during and after my daughter's birth. We met and and talked a few times before my labor, kept in contact via text and facebook. I thought it was great that she took the time to meet my OB and asked him questions I didn't even think of beforehand.

During labor she was very much in tune with what I wanted and needed, and respected my wishes throughout labor-- even if they had changed from my birth plan. Meg was great support for me AND my husband. I had a difficult labor and in the end I truly believe having her there helped me avoid a csection.

I'm so glad I hired Meg to be my doula, it really made me feel more confident that I had someone there to advocate for and ask questions for me (especially in a hospital setting), to keep me company, to hear her words of encouragement, and to make sure I was getting what I needed.

After the birth, Meg made sure I was comfortable before leaving, and made one postpartum home visit to check on me and to bring over my encapsulated placenta (worth it!). The home visit was so nice; someone came to see ME and not just my baby.

Even though my birth didn't go exactly as I had envisioned, I still had a very positive birth experience! When I have another baby, I will most certainly be using Meg again!

Meg was great!  I wanted a doula who was tough, because I was set on having a water birth naturally, without using any pain medications.  Unfortunately, I'm sort of a wimp and I figured I'd cave in when the real pain started.  Meg listened to what I wanted out of my birth experience and encouraged me when the day arrived.  She was willing to come to my house during early labor and coach me and my partner.  The best part was when she knew exactly how to make me feel more comfortable during labor.  She was able to step in or give advice, when my partner wasn't sure how to help.  There are things a woman and mother knows that a soon-to-be first-time dad doesn't.  She was there for ME.  In the end, I had a 50 hour labor and was unable to deliver naturally, but I am still so grateful she was there.
