Tracey Kenworthy

As a first time mother, I sought a doula because I wanted to have a non-medicated birth and did not want a c-section. I never imagined having to be induced and being in the hospital for 69 hours prior to giving birth. My husband and I are beyond grateful to have had Sarah as our doula. She is truly excellent at what she does and made me believe that every woman needs a "Sarah" to have during the pregnancy, labor, and post labor.

Prior to birth, Sarah met with us 3 times about our birth plan and pain management techniques. She was very responsive to questions and text messages. She consistently checked in to ask about my doctor appointments on regular basis. When one doctor gave us unexpected information, she was able to help us navigate and think about our options.

During my 69-hour hospital stay, Sarah stayed in the hospital with us the whole time and slept sitting up in a chair for three nights. Thus I was never alone whenever my husband needed to leave. Additionally, she provided me whatever I needed. To illustrate, she cleaned the bath tub for me and helped me get to the bathroom. Furthermore, she interpreted what the doctors told us and helped us make decisions about what medications to try next with the induction process. Whenever I expressed that something was bothering me, she always had different, effective suggestions/gadgets for how to fix it. She was successful with managing the pain for 53 hours. However, I chose to get an epidural because I developed a fever, chills, and had severe back labor. Even when I had to stay in the bed, Sarah helped troubleshoot issues with my baby's position, which allowed my baby to get in position for a vaginal delivery. She ultimately prevented me from having a c-section.

After delivery, she visited us two times and continued to check in on us via text weeks after my baby was born. We will definitely seek her services again with our next pregnancy and recommend her to anyone having a baby.
