Ebony was wonderful resource in providing my husband and I with alternative birthing techniques and class options for consideration. I wanted to leave no availability for fear to be a part of my birth story. With each question or concern I or my husband had, Ebony made herself available. She was patient with our questions and followed up on our discussions with sound resources (literature, books, websites and class options) allowing us to learn, discuss and formalize decisions surrounding choices specific to pregnancy, our birth and post birth plan. Ebony truly walked alongside us every step throughout our pregnancy ensuring that we were educated on developmental stages, how to prepare for what decisions needed to be made and in preparation of our becoming first time parents. She gave me the space to emotionally digest concerns and feelings I had throughout the pregnancy including changes made to my birth plan during labor. She was a phenomenal knowledgeable resource and advocate during labor to us from helping us understand the immediate stage of labor and next, to summarizing the medical staff’s info. shared, to presenting alternative birthing options and knowing what physical positions, exercises and movements would help progress the birth process along. Ebony was encouraging, personal and professional. Her assistance helped me remain focused, calm and strong. She helped accomplish my birth plan by breaking the process down, simplifying it taking it one contraction and push at time. Which equated to the most satisfying, peaceful, tranquil and beautiful birth story possible. Her post birth support was invaluable. She well surpassed our expectations and desires of the professional services, expertise and wealth of knowledge she would offer as our doula. We highly recommend Ebony and cannot adequately express our gratitude for her partnership given to us.

As a first time father, the assistance of a highly experienced doula and mother of four was extremely beneficial. Ebony’s extensive knowledge of the practical and emotional aspects of pregnancy was a huge aid to my wife and to me. She prepared us by providing an education on what to expect and the many options and questions to consider in prenatal care and healthy practices. She was empathetic, reassuring and emotionally supportive of my wife in a way that this guy was ill equipped to anticipate. Especially, during two days of labor.

Ebony was both a personal and professional resource that helped guide us during the entire experience of becoming parents and sharing in the great outcome of a healthy mom and baby boy.

I was so thankful to have Ebony as my doula for the birth of my 5th baby. She was so attentive and available for any questions before I went into labor, and I felt that her advice helped get Monica in the best position possible for a smooth labor. When labor finally began, Ebony was the support that my husband and I needed. She gave direction and encouragement on how to help my labor progress quickly but never 'stepped over' my husband and his desire to be supportive throughout. It was my best labor and delivery experience yet and I am so thankful for the role she played in it!" ~Monica's mom

Having Ebony as our doula for the birth of our fifth child was one of the best decisions we have made!  Even though we had been through labor and delivery four times before, this was our first VBAC and we wanted some extra support.  Ebony came highly recommended by a friend and I knew as soon as I spoke with her that I would be in good hands.  Ebony is an excellent listener and was dedicated to fully understanding our past births, preferences, and birth plan for this baby.  She stayed in close contact throughout my pregnancy and was always quick to respond to my questions.  When it came to the birth, Ebony arrived quickly and stayed by our side.  When I was in a lot of pain, she helped me get into a different position that I never would have tried, but it made all the difference! Ebony worked seamlessly with our doctor, the hospital nurses, and my husband.  She was a natural part of the team and I could not imagine not having her there.  Ebony has a great awareness of how to carry herself in the delivery room, always there when I needed her but also knowing when to give some space.  My husband felt that he had a partner and could really enjoy the birth instead of feeling that he was my only advocate.  In short, we would not hesitate to use Ebony again and highly recommend her.

This was my third birth, and my last 2 had not been positive experiences. I loved being pregnant but delivery was always the "bad" part. Both of my deliveries were long labors, including back labor and stress for myself and my husband. I really wanted this delivery to be different, even a "positive" experience.
Ebony met with my husband and I to talk through expectations. It was a chance for us to discuss what we wanted from this delivery. Ebony helped walk us through potential scenarios, giving us tools that my husband could us to help my back labor, to help him be a partner in my delivery. She was great about listening to what we wanted from the delivery, and how she could help us meet some of our aspirations.
Finally the time came! My water broke in the evening, and I decided (my Ebony's and my mid-wife's advice) to try to get some sleep. I got a couple hours of sleep, and was woken by contractions. I called Ebony, and appreciated her willingness to do whatever I preferred. I labored, using some breathing techniques that we had talked about,as well as some visual mantras to help me focus on the decent of the baby. After a few hours, she arrived at our home, and eventually we set off to the hospital. She helped me focus through the pain and helping me relax with goal oriented focus (which we discussed worked best to motivate me). We got to the hospital, and I was fully dilated and ready to push. This was my first time delivering without the aid of an epidural and it was amazing to feel how naturally my body did what needed to happen to get my baby out. The midwife arrived just in time, after some aided breathing (from Ebony) to help him descend slowly, to deliver my health 9' 2" baby boy!
This experience was different that my previous deliveries, one major factor being the tools and instruction given by Ebony. I credit her with making this experience a "positive" one for my husband and I.
