Long overdue testimonial here, but my love for Deanna has only grown over time! :) I was looking for a doula that I could connect with personally- I truly believe it helps to like those you ask into your birthing space. Upon meeting Deanna at our initial consultation, I knew that I had met the doula for my second birth within minutes. Deanna is warm and engaging, knowledgeable and funny, and I just loved our initial conversations regarding birth and families. Throughout my pregnancy Deanna was an advocate for me, my family, and my birth plan. She was able to advise me when necessary because she took the time to understand what my needs and priorities were. I made a (what could have been stressful without Deanna) decision to change providers late in my pregnancy to ensure I had the labor and birth I desired and Deanna stood right beside me through that transition, without her it could not have happened! I loved having access to her wealth of baby/labor/breastfeeding electronic resources, she sent a lot of great information my way.
During labor and birth, Deanna was a strong, supportive presence that I appreciated and needed very much. She assisted (and was ALWAYS very responsive) me in finding resources when my babe and I had nursing and lip tie issues and checked in with us often. Deanna indeed made us feel cared for! I also utilized her placenta encapsulation services and I cannot say enough about how quickly she got me my "happy pills!", I was shocked! This was my first time having my placenta encapsulated and I will say that I did truly notice a difference in my energy, mood, and milk production. Deanna even made a sweet little placenta print for us in the process!
I really can't recommend Deanna enough. She is thoughtful, professional, and truly someone whom I felt safe inviting into my most sacred space. Book a consult with her today, I'm sure you'll feel the same!
I don't know what we would have done without Deanna. She held my hand through my long labor and when my husband and I couldn't keep our eyes open another moment, she was our eyes and told me how long I had skin to skin with our baby. I've recommended her to our friend and I'm thrilled she'll be there for them too. Deanna rules!
You were this most perfect, welcoming, calming presence for these first time birth parents. I think you were as surprised as we were at the atypical early arrival and quick pace, yet your experience, knowledge & intuition kept us on track, peaceful & feeling positive. You steered us to stay measured and thoughtful. Your non-verbal cues and support encouraged us to continue advocating for our birth/after-birth plan. When the medical team needed to tend to me, your presence allowed Jeff to confidently focus on Sam knowing your full attention was on me: invaluable! Post birth, you were kind, helpful and quick to refer us to other professionals was needed. You went above and beyond for all three of us. We are forever grateful to have you as a member of our team!
My husband and I are so grateful for Deanna's support and knowledge throughout the entire pregnancy. We appreciated that she offered us trusted information and allowed us to make the best decisions for us. Her calm and confident nature put us at ease during labor. I don't know if I could have gone through natural labor and delivery without her!! I am most thankful for her breastfeeding support. I almost gave up early on, but Deanna came to our house and after speaking to her I decided that even though it wasn't easy, I could totally breastfeed. Having a support person like Deanna is so important during such a life changing event. I don't know why more people don't take advantage of doulas!
Deanna is everything you want in a friend, counselor, support person, and birth professional. We hit it off almost immediately, but after my 40+ hour birth, Deanna became family. She provided patient guidance and sound advice to a high-maintenance, ultra-needy first time mom throughout my pregnancy without once seeming like she was bothered by my nigh-on-constant nagging. I also relied on her heavily for postpartum support, and as usual, she stepped up to answer all my questions and calm my worried little heart. I can't say enough good about her! You'd be crazy to give birth without a doula in the first place, but even crazier if you gave up an opportunity to hire Deanna!
we we're having our second child but working with Deanna was our first experience with a doula and she was wonderful! My first birth did not go at all as planned and as a result (in my opinion) ended up in a c-section. my husband and I knew that when we had our second, we wanted to try for a vbac. we are military and ended up moving to OKC during my third trimester so we had no family or friends here to rely on which was another reason I was so happy to have a doula. Deanna listened to my concerns and helped me to work through most of my fears. I went into labor on my own at 38 1/2 weeks and with Deanna's guidance was able to work through the contractions at home until they became more consistent and closer together. my husband and I were both pretty freaked out bit we both became immediately at ease when Deanna got to the hospital. Even though the nurses and doctors at OU were amazing, there was something so comforting about knowing she was there, she knew what we wanted and offered her advice when I needed it (which was a lot). When the babies vitals began being affected after receiving an epidural, I ended up with a repeat c-section and our sweet baby boy arrived shortly after. Because he was a little early, he spent his first 6 days in NICU which was a little emotionally traumatic for me. Deanna visited us often at the hospital and helped with my breastfeeding. She even came to our house for postpartum visits to help with any other breastfeeding issues we were having. I truly believe without Deanna's support and knowledge I would not have have even had the confidence to make it as far in my vbac attempt and have had such success in breastfeeding, we are going on 5 months exclusively breastfeeding. She is an amazing woman and doula and if we do have another child, we will most definitely be calling her. Her presence was such a comfort to my husband and myself we recommend her to anyone pregnant or even thinking of getting pregnant.
Deanna is a great Doula. She is there for you and your family to this special time in your life. Deanna has a vast knowledge of giving birth. She answered all of my questions and made me feel safe and calm for both of my births. She is the best and recommend her to everyone and for all of my births.
I hired Deanna around 5 months gestation with my second born. I was planning a VBAC and was seeking as much support as possible. I recieved just that and so much more from Deanna! She is very intelligent and shared her knowledge on things I hadn't even considered throughout my pregnancy and while creating my birth plan. She was never biased and always had an open mind and open heart to any and all of my desires. During labor her gentle voice kept me reeled in and focused on what my body was doing. She would ask questions that helped me be one with myself and relax. When labor had stalled, Deanna put her good knowldge and experience to work and helped put me into positions that helped my contractions get back on track (I had an epidural placed 14 hours into my nearly 27 hour labor). She also used essential oils (UH-MAZING) while I was laboring. Really, this woman can do it all ;) Whether you're planning a home birth or hospital birth, I highly recommend Deanna! She is wonderful in every aspect of the word!
Deanna was an amazing support through my pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. She was always willing to help me with any questions I had for her. She was knowledgeable and always answered my questions more fully than I expected. She stayed positive and encouraging during my labor when my partner and I were not. Postpartum, Deanna was there to emotionally support us when we lost our baby. She is an amazing woman and doula and I recommend her to anyone that I know that is looking for doula support.
Deanne Norris was supportive and encouraging during my entire birthing process and stayed long after the birth to help me recover. We were both completely exhausted yet she stayed until they finally got me to my room. Baby arrived at 10 PM...OU didn't get me to my room until around 2:30 AM.
She was patient and completely available when ever I needed her during pregnancy. She also has years and years of wisdom and experience with not only birth and being a mid wife and doula but also with natural living and natural ways to be healthy.
Her support and encouragement and presence made all the difference for me in feeling safe and having a natural birth.
You will have an invaluable ally in choosing Deanna as your midwife or doula.
Deanna is absolutely great! She is very caring and wants you to have the best birth experience you can. She is very knowledgeable in the practice of before, during, and after birth. She was with me for my first pregnancy. It was 30 hours of labor and she was there the whole time. She supported me and my husband all the way. She helped me into different positions and to stay focused and positive. She stayed by our side and if we had any questions she helped us discuss our options. She is so loving and caring. She is there for you and your family and baby. I recommend Deanna for your number one doula.
