Post a testimonial for Elizabeth Wilcox CD (CBI) Birth Doula

Elizabeth was my back up doula when mine was unable to be available the day of birth. I had an unexpected C-Section. It was extremely helpful having Elizabeth there to help with my needs and hold the baby when my husband and I needed breaks. She is calm and nurturing. She has great knowledge and experience. And as a first time mom, that was comforting. I would certainly recommend her.

In my first meeting with Elizabeth she was very open about her own experiences with labor and becoming a doula and stressed that she was there to support whatever my preferences were as a client. She also met with me and my husband at home and helped set expectations for birth and how she would support and involve my husband and also what to expect for postpartum. Once I was past my due date we met just to talk through any fears or inhibitions I had. She was there to share, listen, comfort, encourage and support me. My water broke at home and she helped alleviate that initial anxiety and stress of everything being set in motion. When she arrived she immediately jumped in, reviewed coping techniques and introduced herself to the staff. It helped me mentally to have someone by my side throughout. She was very attentive and observant in reading me if I seemed unsure about something without verbalizing it. She was constantly answering questions and clarifying what staff had told me. She gave me ice chips and even rubbed my feet when I was in the zone. She also really adapted to my cues and stages of labor, knowing when to distract or joke with me and when things were getting beyond me and we needed to take a different tack. When my labor took a direction I didn't expect she helped me make the right decisions for my situation and let go of my feelings of disappointment or failure. She helped gently introduce alternatives to me without pushing me to change my mind. She let me get there on my own. She gave reassurance constantly of what I was feeling emotionally and physically. Postpartum we met to debrief and process the experience and check in on recovery and how baby was doing. We couldn't have asked for a better fit for this experience. She was knowledgeable, professional, warm, encouraging, positive and intuitive. She really went above and beyond in her service to our family and we would wholeheartedly recommend her to others and work with her again.

I recently had my first baby and had such a positive birth experience, largely due to the support I received from Elizabeth. This being my first pregnancy, I wasn't sure what to expect and I was nervous about all the unknowns. I chose to have a hospital birth in case anything went wrong medically, but was still nervous about the labor portion in the hospital. I had heard that doulas were a great resource and they even help decrease the chances of C-sections. I'd also heard that doulas are more in tune with the emotional side of birth and not just the medical aspects. I connected with Elizabeth towards the beginning of my pregnancy and we met often to talk about the birth plan and for her to answer any questions I had. From start to finish I was at ease about labor and delivery because of Elizabeth. The day my son was born, Elizabeth was my mouthpiece when I was unable to speak (due to contractions), was able to encourage my husband to find ways to be involved and help me breathe through contractions, and she made sure that I understood what was being presented to me by the midwife and nurses. She went to bat for me, asking if I could labor a bit longer on my own before being given pitocin (per our birth plan). Using the labor positions Elizabeth recommended, I was able to put off using pitocin until much later in the process. Elizabeth was highly attentive to my needs, she listened carefully, she brought a calming presence to the room, and was an amazing encourager and advocate. Elizabeth worked really well with the medical staff - respecting their input and expertise, but at the same time, making sure my wishes were being heard. I had no idea that labor and delivery (vaginal) could actually be peaceful, but I was fortunate enough to experience exactly that. I HIGHLY recommend Elizabeth, and I can't imagine my future pregnancies happening without her! Thank you for everything Elizabeth!!

Elizabeth Wilcox helped me with my 4th birth, an unmedicated water birth. She knew tricks for helping to open my pelvic area, provided pain-relieving counter pressures, and encouraged me and my husband throughout the process. Elizabeth helped me to feel relaxed and safe, cared for, and heard. She was able to guide my husband on different ways he could provide support for me. My husband was able to comfort me in ways he never had at our other 3 births because Elizabeth was able to coach him.
Elizabeth helped me in the birth process immensely and was also absolutely wonderful at providing a buffer between me and family members. She made a plan with me before labor on how to handle family and she was able to firmly yet graciously with my family.
Elizabeth truly was instrumental in helping me have the most peaceful birth experience I could ever wish for.

In August of 2023 we were expecting our fifth baby. I'd had a hospital birth as well as three home births previously but our insurance was switched so we had to have a birth center birth this time and I felt so nervous about it, it was like I was a new mom again!!!!
Elizabeth chatted with me before labor and got an idea of my hopes and dreams for my birth. She also made my very involved, independant baby-catching husband comfortable with the idea of using a doula! It was a total miracle!
I had a couple false alarms and Elizabeth was prompt to reply and very gracious too. She was a constant source of encouragement! When labor did start Elizabeth was easy to reach and she helped me have a very noninvasive, peaceful birth. I was even able to leave to birth center two hours after my baby was born!! All I had to do was look at Elizabeth and she knew just what I needed to hear or could read my mind and answer my questions before I even asked them!! My husband was able to catch our baby and Elizabeth stayed right by my side to encourage me through the pushing (which is the very hardest part in my opinion!!!!!!!)
Elizabeth was also there for me for all my postpartum worries and questions. She remembered ever detail, even how much ibuprofin I was supposed to take & when my last dose was!! She also talked with my about my birth afterword, so the memories that were hazy or totally forgotten were peiced together. And she took pictures too! I don't know she accomplished all she did but I'm so thankful she was there! If we try for another baby I want to check with her schedule first because now that I've experienced a labor with her there I can't imagine one without her!

Elizabeth was the best blessing I could ever ask the Lord for. She was knowledgeable, caring, positive, encouraging and I'm so happy that I had her as my Doula. I absolutely cannot imagine not having her present at my birth. She was my personal advocate when speaking to both my family and the hospital personnel. I would recommend her to anyone experiencing the birth of a baby, new and experienced mothers. When she told me that I was her very first birth I was baffled; she handles her job with the utmost professionalism. As a new mother, I was scared, anxious and inexperienced. She helped me gain confidence in myself and gave me the encouragement I needed to bring my little one into the world completely natural. She walked me through the hallways of the hospital as I was getting farther and farther along, encouraging me to do exercises that would help speed up the process. She helped me to accept and welcome each contraction with deep breathing and staying relaxed. But most importantly, she knew when to speak on my behalf without taking away my voice. I am so, so grateful for her. Although I've only known her for a short time, she became like family very quickly. Thank you Elizabeth, you are a rock star!
