Barb was amazing! We hired her as our back-up postpartum doula and as it happens our son was born the day our initial postpartum doula left for a 3 week vacation. Barb met us at our home when we came home from the hospital and immediately took care of all of us (she sent me to bed for some much needed rest, fed my husband and took care of my son). She was excellent in helping problem-solve when breastfeeding was difficult in the beginning. I was able to get excellent sleep when she was at my house because I knew my son was in excellent care. I highly recommend Barb as a postpartum doula, it was the cherry on my birth experience cake. Thank you Barb!!

Where to begin?! Barb was such an integral part to our entire birthing process!!

  • She was patient and thorough answering all our questions while she coached us during our prenatal home sessions.
  • Barb helped us develop our birthing plan and did everything she could to be accommodating of our plan.
  • Her nursing background absolutely comes in handy discussing ob, hospital, baby gear, and lactation matters (before, during, and days after delivery).
  • She calmed us after labor began by helping us through 12+ hours of active labor at home before going to the hospital (little did we know that she was scoping out our home prior to plan for locations, props, and positions for me to labor more comfortably!).
  • Once the show started, she assisted us in working with the hospital staff to make sure we were comfortable and helped stage a relaxing, peaceful environment. Most importantly, she helped us understand hospital questions so we could make educated decisions and know what was being done and why.
  • Her entire persona was calming and reassuring at all times for both mom and dad, while her quiet advice was always welcome and appreciated.
  • The tips learned over her many years of experience helped mommy, daddy, and baby!

There isn't a single doubt in my mind that I never could have handled a natural birth without Barb's calming influence and guiding, capable hands! At least not after 24 hours of active labor! :)

With endless gratitude! Sarah & Eric

I have to say she was a great person to have at my birth. I met with her before while being prego and she helped me alot with info and support. I couldn't have asked for anyone better. If I ever had another child I do believe I'd want her. I don't think of her as a lady that's just there to help. I think of her as part of my family.  I send pictures of my son wit down syndrome so she can see him grow into a great little boy! Thank you so much for the great experience.

It was a great experience and would have her be there for the birth of any future children I may have! Having a doula helped keep me focused and reassured, especially when doctors used words I didn't understand. She was patient, understanding and really great to work with. She was easy to get along with and build a relationship with. I was comfortable with her and never felt like the choices I made through the birth process were judged or looked down upon. She was really supportive and helped talk me through every step along the way. I would recommend her services to anyone who is looking to have a wonderful birth experience.

My husband and I had our first child in September of 2015 and Barb was our doula... but truthfully just calling her our doula doesn't do her any justice. She is so much more than that. Throughout my pregnancy, Barb went far above and beyond what I ever expected her to do and really became both a physical and emotional support person for us. We had planned on having our baby in a birth center and towards the end of my pregnancy EVERYTHING changed. My baby was breech and we were transferred to hospital care. Naturally, we were nervous and scared. Barb came with me to all of my doctor's appointments at the hospital and was there for me when I tried an external version. We ended up needing a c-section and Barb was right there with me in the operating room advocating for me during a difficult experience... Something I could never put a price on. Not only was Barb amazing throughout my pregnancy and birth experience, she was also physically and emotionally there for me postpartum. Barb came over to my house and not only gave me advice about the baby, but helped take care of me too. Barb is always there for me. To this day, I know I can call her anytime and ask her anything. When I'm feeling down, she really helps me feel calm, confident, and empowered. When we look back at our entire experience, we honestly can't imagine it without Barb. She's the best!

We feel so lucky to have had Barb as our doula.  She was very helpful in preparing us for what to expect during labor, and invaluable as our advocate in the delivery room.  Barb also went above and beyond by staying with me for several hours when I had to go back in the hospital for post partum preeclampsia.  She is a wonderful doula (and human!) and we would highly recommend her.  Many thanks, Barb!

Barb is amazing!  As first time parents, we were a bit aprehensive of the birthing process, so we were really comforted by having Barb there to support us through delivery.  My husband was especially grateful that she came to our house while I was in labor, helped coach him and teach him what to do to comfort me, and was there as a guide to let us know when we should be calling the midwife and thinking of heading over to the birth center.  We were especially glad to have Barb with us when we had to transfer from the birth center to the hospital.  Since we were less fimiliar with the hospital environment, she was extremely helpful in letting us know what questions to ask and what options we might have in order to help us get the birthing experience we were hoping for.  In the end, she stayed with us for about 21 hours.  We are so thankful to have had Barb at the birth of our son and will be honored if she will join us when the time comes for baby #2.

All I can say is, Barb is amazing! She is highly passionate and that comes out in everything she does. We were blessed to have her walk with us during pregnancy, labor, and delivery. During our early conversations she was genuinely interested in getting to know me and my husband. During labor, she was a calm and supportive presence. She went above and beyond in so many ways. We are very thankful for Barb!

We could not have asked for a better doula than Barb. She was knowledgable, supportive, and kind throughout the entire birthing process. The birth of our baby had some unexpected twists and turns (started as a birth center birth and ended up being a transfer to the hospital) and Barb was able to guide us every step of the way. I couldn't have been more thankful to have her with us. Because of her guidance we were able to say that the birth was an empowering experience and that we made informed, thoughtful decisions throughout.

She met with us for prenatal consultations, stayed with us for the entire duration of the birth (over 3 days!), was thoughtful, intuitive, and kind. She was a tremendous help to me during the birth and was a great help to my husband Aaron too. She visited us at the hospital after the birth (both me and the baby had complications that kept us there) and then she even visited us at home a few times too. She was able to help me process the experience and provide resources when the scope of my needs extended past her knowledge.

We would highly recommed Barb to any family looking for a nurturing, smart, and all around great doula!

I had the pleasure of Barb Lines’s support during and after my pregnancy in 2010. Barb consulted with me about what to expect from the time I knew I was pregnant all the way through the third trimester. She also provided me with various resources for expecting mothers. I used different exercises, relaxation techniques, nutrition advice and other healthy practices during pregnancy that I learned from her, which helped me tremendously during pregnancy. During my third trimester she showed me a video of the birth of one of her children. It helped me a lot as this was my first pregnancy. I learned how to handle contractions (massage techniques, comfortable positions and rest between contractions) and how to manage pushing (arm and head position, etc). She also provided me with valuable advice to pass on to my husband regarding spousal support during pregnancy, labor and delivery as well as during the first few weeks after delivery. As she was at the hospital with me and my husband the night before and during delivery, she helped both of us understand different procedures by interpreting medical language used by hospital personnel. After our baby was born Barb stayed in touch with me and provided me with valuable information on breastfeeding as well emotional health – changes in mood expected due to hormonal changes, tiredness etc. Having Barb during my pregnancy, at the hospital during labor and delivery and after my pregnancy was very helpful and I hope that many other expecting moms will be able to take advantage of Barb’s vast knowledge and passion during such an important time in their lives.

We have known Barb Lines for the past 13 years, and during that time she has become a dear friend, as well as playing a very important role during the pregnancy and delivery of both of our babies. Barb went above and beyond to make sure all the necessary care was taken during both of our pregnancies. She helped us along the way with her extensive knowledge of alternative methods to bring ease to terrible morning sickness, she went with us to our birthing classes, she educated us on all the different scenarios that we could run into at the time of birth, and there was no question that we could have, that she didn’t have an answer for. Having her as our Doula, made the whole pregnancy and delivery just magical. Our first baby was a boy, and he is almost 10yrs old now. We had a beautiful healthy pregnancy, and Barb was essential to help us process all the newness we were experiencing. The delivery was done via a C-Section since our baby was breeched, and even though we didn’t get to do all the different things we had practiced for a natural birth, it was so nice to have Barb there watching after us, our baby and to take those beautiful first shots of the miracle of life coming out of mommy’s belly. (Continued from above) Our second baby was a girl, and she is now almost 8yrs old now. That pregnancy was a lot different, and we required all of Barb’s knowledge related to morning sickness, which was more like all day sickness ?. We got to labor at home, with Barb by our side, and arrived at the hospital with just enough time to concentrate on the task at hand… delivering a beautiful baby girl via vaginal birth, with no drugs involved. We had a great team between Barb, our midwife, and the delivery nurse, and 3hrs after arriving at the hospital; we were all celebrating the birth of our new baby. Our baby was born very sick and we were very appreciative of how Barb continued to be by our side and helped us with different challenges we encountered while trying to nurse a baby that was with a feeding tube for the first 3 weeks of her lifer. Thanks to Barb’s support and guidance, we were able to breastfeed our baby for over 8months, which it’s not an easy task after all the different challenges we encounter with our baby girl. We didn’t know what a Doula was before getting pregnant with our babies, but now, and thanks to Barb, we have a high regard for those wonderful women that devote their lives at helping other women deliver the most precious gift ever. We are forever grateful for all the support, guidance and love Barb gave us during the pregnancy and delivery of our babies.
