Attends hospital births? All Hospitals
I like to have my client inform their medical provider that I will be attending the birth. I also try to call/go into the hospital that they are going to deliver in and let them know I will be coming in with an expecting mother. If I haven't attended a birth there I will ask them questions about what the protocols are for the labor and delivery unit as well as postpartum. I will then have a meeting with my client and discuss what the hospitals protocols are.
Attends birth center births? All Birth Centers
I like to have my client inform the Birth Centers that they will have a doula attending the birth. If I have not attended any births at this center I will call them and ask questions as to what the protocols are there. I then have a meeting with my client and talk about what the Center's protocols are.
Attends home births? Any Home Birth
I have not attended any at home yet but am looking forward to it!

I was immediately impressed with Jessica when I was first interviewing her to be my doula.  She was friendly, professional and very knowledgable.  For my first child I was induced, had an epidural and other interventions.  For my second child I wanted a different experience.  I wanted a natural childbirth and I wanted to labor mostly at home, so that is why I chose to look for a doula to help me.  Jessica met with me several times before the birth to answer questions, address my concerns and fears, and prepare for this new experience.  I was nervous about labor and was anxious about how my body would handle it.  Jessica made me feel at ease as she went over numerous techniques that would help me relax and deal with the pain.  She also helped me with my birth preferences and supported me in all my decisions.  The day I went into labor Jessica arrived promptly at my home when I needed her and supported me throughout the whole process.  While my husband was taking care of our toddler, she stepped in and was there for me.  She was able to adapt to how I was feeling and what I needed and was able to guide me and comfort me.  Jessica was cheering me on the whole time, even when I felt like giving up she was there rooting for me and helping me feel confident and strong.  When it came time to go to the hospital she continued to help me and was my advocate at the hospital.  She truly went above and beyond my expectations and I couldn't be more pleased with my expereince.  I honestly could never have done natural childbirth without her!  She was amazing, and I am forever grateful for her amazing role in bringing my sweet little girl into this world.  I was able to have the birth experience I wanted and it was very positive and without the interventions and complications of my first pregnancy.  I would definitely recommend Jessica!

Jessica was there the entire pregnancy. Whenever I had a question or concern or just simply wanted to complain about some aches and pains that inevitably accompany pregnancy she was always there reassuring me that everything was okay or would have an answer to what I needed. She has had two kids and has been there herself. During labor she was very respcetful of all my requests and very excited to help in anyway she could, even though we were up all night. I Highly recommend her sevices to anybody who is lookng for support in any degree. She's AWESOME! :)

Jessica was amazing and very helpful to both my husband and I. She came over to our house several different times when it was convenient for us to plan and discuss the delivery of our baby. She met us at the hospital the night of our induction and stayed for the almost 24 hours that it took to deliver the baby and then get settled into our hospital room. She knew what to do to help whenever any issue came up (and there were a few issues throughout the night) and was able to calm me down whenever I started to panic. She has also been helpful following up with us after we came home from the hospital and has been more than willing to help me with any problems or questions I've had about breastfeeding or the baby or anything else I needed. I will definitely be asking for her help again with our future pregnancies and children.
