North Shore Birth and Beyond's placenta encapsulation service was PERFECT for us. Kira was prompt and available and professional. So super warm, energetic, and supportive via email that by the time I met her I felt like I already knew her. This was very nice at such an emotional time. I appreciated very much that the placenta was processed away from our home and that the bottles were discreet and attractive. This was important as we share our kitchen with tenants. And the price was right too. From what I'd seen on line I thought I was going to have to skip encapsulation altogether or look into making placenta smoothies at home by myself... which I probably would not have been able to do in the end as it was grossing myhusband out at the mere thought and I knew I wouldn't have the energy (or the taste buds) for it when the time came. Thank you, Kira!

Kira has such a wonderful heart. She truley loves what she does-- and that is why she does it. She is passionate about birth and can't help but share that passion with others. Kira encapsulated my placenta, and did a wonderful job :) But not only did she do that, she also walked along side me throughout my pregnancy and post partum period. She did not have to do this. But she did it out of the kindness of her heart. I really appreciated the way that she cared for me and checked in on me during this time. If you hire Kira for any of her services, I promise that you will not only have your expectations met, you will also gain a friend.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Kira. i have a 2 month old son who was having a very hard time with colic and up most of the nights.  I had called Kira on a Tuesday morning and she was at our house that night. Kira made me feel comfortable and had empathy about my whole situation. Kira diagnosed my case as over supply of milk, which was causing my son to receive foremilk and he wasn't getting the hindmilk. She then worked with me and my son on different breast feeding positions.

Kira spent over 2 hours working with me and made me feel completely comfortable through the whole process.  The support didn't end after the visit. Kira has checked in for the last three weeks to see how we are doing. My son is now only waking up once in the night to feed and the colic has gone away.   I would recommend Kira to any mother who has having a difficult time with breast feeding and soothing,  she is a life saver!!!

I hired Kira in spring 2013 to support me in birthing my first child due in early summer. Though I knew several people who had used doulas before, I was skeptical that a total stranger could provide the care and support I would need during such an intimate and life-changing event as birth. My hesitation quickly dissolved during my first meeting with Kira. Kira's professionalism and kind-heartedness were immediately evident, as was her thorough preparation, which included a questionnaire designed to ensure that she would be a good match for me and my birth intentions.

In addition to being a kind, compassionate, and thoroughly informed professional, Kira proved herself to be an extremely dedicated and tireless advocate throughout my labor and birth. Over those days, she walked with me, spoke encouraging words and communicated with my doctors when I couldn't. She helped me talk and think through various decisions I had to make while laboring and her extensive medical knowledge helped me immensely in this regard. She even helped me "manage" various visiitors and was excellent at asserting my desire to limit who was allowed in the room.

Overall, my experience with Kira vastly exceeded my expectations. Since the birth of my son, Kira has kept in touch by following up with a couple of postpartum visits and generally making sure that everything is okay. She's promptly answered any questions I've had regarding breastfeeding and postpartum recovery. She has also encouraged me to be in touch should any questions or problems arise. I feel blessed to have had such a kind and knowledgeable doula support me in the birth of my son.

I sought out a placenta encapsulation service in preparation for having my second child, and found North Shore Birth & Beyond through a recommendation by another doula.

Kira has been WONDERFUL to work with, very responsive to questions and very knowledgeable about the experience of birth and postpartum care. Based on the conversations we had surrounding my birth experience I think she'd also be a wonderful person to have present in a birth room as a coach and advocate. She's been very kind with follow-up emails as well, with really helpful nursing advice. Her compassion is so evident in every conversation with her. I definitely recommend her service.

I met with Kira for doula services. I thought she was SUPER. She is incredibly smart, extremely well-trained, kind,  forthright and warm. She knows so much about pregnancy, labor and birth and is very generous with her knowledge. Unfortunately, I had a high risk pregnancy and was not able to use a doula for labor in the final days. However, Kira was wonderful and came to the hospital on a moment's notice to get my placenta to make placental capsules. She had them for me the next day. I am sure she is an amazing doula and I recommend her highly.

I decided to use a doula during the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy. Kira was extremely flexible and responsive to my needs during this time. She was able to meet with me the week before my due date both for an initial meeting and for a pre-labor meeting. I went into labor hours after our pre-labor meeting. Kira made my husband and I feel extremely comfortable and at ease during my 10 hour labor. She was fantastic as a liason between the medical staff, as well as providing physical and verbal help with laboring. Her presence was calming and confident. Her advice about decisions during labor was non-judgemental and objective. She truly LOVES the process. We were lucky to have found Kira, and would highly recommend her!

Wow...Kira was a gift to us on our first night home from the hospital. In pain, and with a daughter who would no longer latch, it was late at night and things were really unraveling.  Kira offered to come no matter how late it was, stayed for a couple hours, and helped me get back to a positive place. She was incredibly generous with her time and expertise and has continued to offer support after our first visit.  She is friendly and empathetic, and we are lucky to have found her when we did...
