Angela is a wonderful doula and I cannot say enough positive things about her! She provided invaluable support before, during, and after the birth of our first child, and I give her my highest recommendation.
Before the birth, she showed us exercises to ensure the baby would be in the optimal position, provided a breastfeeding overview, reviewed our birth plan and various scenarios that would or could arise, and gave us topical books from her own library. During the birth she was great with my husband, the nurses, and midwife — everyone worked together as a team and I felt so supported. She even held my legs while I pushed for 2.5 hours! After the birth, Angela helped with breastfeeding at the hospital and I was able to text her anytime with questions. She was always quick to reply with advice and helpful articles. It was also great having her come by the house to check in on us and review how the birth went.
Overall, I couldn’t be more pleased with our experience. Having someone so kind, calm and knowledgeable with us every step of the way made all the difference. Thanks to Angela, I was much more at ease during labor and the uncertain first few weeks as a new mom. Hiring Angela was one of the best decisions we could have made and we’re so happy we did!
I really dropped the ball here. I meant to write about my wonderful experience with Angela some time ago..but you know, new baby and all (:
I chose Angela for my June 2016 labor because she's easy to reach, she has a lending library, she gives you guides on the spinning babies program and a whole plethora of reference info about the birth process to help better inform your birth plan. I chose Angela because of how I felt around her after meeting with her. I felt very comfortable, she was practical in her philosophy and spoke warmly and has plenty of birth experience under her belt. I have anxiety, I said as much. I wanted a practical and calm as possible labor should my anxiety get the best of me. I wanted drugs and I wanted a doula and that's exactly what I got.
My labor, my first, was quite an experience but overall positive. Contractions took me over, I could barely think before the next one came. Angela was there to help me around, to squeeze my hips and grip my hand, to calm and soothe me as much as possible and she tried to get my husband to nap god love her lol. While I did eventually get an epidural Angela helped me change positions in the bed on a peanut ball. And when my boy was born she remained to answer questions and reassure me and my husband as the staff did all the routine stuff. She has an option for photo services too that I absolutely recommend as neither yourself or your partner will be in any right state to stop experiencing and start taking pictures instead. I'm so happy I had a doula and I'm so happy I chose her. Highly, highly recommended. Thank you Angela!
Angela is truly amazing! My husband was hesitant about hiring a Doule but after our delivery he was completely sold! Angela is so gentle and warm and her presence made a huge difference. She is very knowledgeable and made herself available to us at all times of the night. I had an unusual birth experience and she was right there to answer questions and provide a nuturing environment. She had tons of resources and we enjoyed the more intimate birthing classes she offered. Angela is simply awesome! If (big if) we have another child we will definitely be using Angela again.
Angela was my birth doula for my second baby and she did a wonderful job. My husband and I were very happy with our decision to have her as our doula. I was able to have the birth I wanted and I believe Angela played an important role to accomplish that.
First of all, she is very knowledgeable. She taught us exercises to help the baby be in the optimal position so that the labor may be easier. Thanks to these exercises my labour was very very quick. I had my beautiful baby in my arms within 30 minutes of the arrival at the hospital.
Second of all, she has excellent resources. She knows many qualified postpartum doulas. She also knows very competent lactation consultants. Angela connected me to Serena Meyer, who is one of the best lactation consultants in this area when I had issues with breastfeeding. Thanks to Serena and Angela, I overcame the challenges and I am still breastfeeding.
Angela is very passionate about what she does. She is punctual, dependable and caring. I really appreciate she was quick to return my texts and phone calls whenever I had questions.
For reasons mentioned above I highly recommend Angela.
My husband and I were very lucky to have her as doula.
Thank you Angela for helping us accomplish the birth we dreamed of!!!
We hired Angela as we were very impressed by her calm but competent, professional and knowledgeable demeanor. We also really appreciated her policy of a refund should she miss the delivery. Not expecting this eventuality however, we did not feel like it would apply to our first delivery/pregnancy situation. Incredibly, labor only lasted 2.5 hours and Angela wasn’t able to make it on time. Our OB barely made it on time. Angela still came and stayed and provided the kind of service we knew she would provide for us. She also was the one who offered the refund based on her policy. We could not recommend her highly enough despite not actually utilizing her to the full extent that we could. We wouldn’t hesitate to hire her for subsequent pregnancies.
I feel lucky to have met Angela and to have had her as my doula for the birth of my first baby. Her generous spirit and calm support were instrumental in enabling me to have the birth experience I wanted.
I had to give birth in a hospital as I couldn't afford a home birth. I knew having a doula who is educated about physiological birth and natural pain management would improve my chances of avoiding unnecessary interventions, but I worried i couldn't pay for it. Luckily, I found Angela through the Birthways Volunteer Doula program.
At our first meeting, she was friendly and professional. We talked about my preferences for the birth, and I could tell that not only was she enthusiastic about birth in general, that she would be supportive of the type of birth I was hoping for. During the rest of my pregnancy, which ended up going a full two weeks past my due date, she kept in touch on a regular basis and offered supportive suggestions and encouragement via email and text. On the couple of days when she was not going to be available she even arranged backup doulas for me to call should I go into labor.
On the night that I finally did go into labor, she helped us decide when it was time to go to the hospital and then met us there. Throughout the twelve hours in labor and delivery, she worked seamlessly with my partner to provide the support I needed. Their gentle hands and loving presence helped me give birth to a 9 lb 4 oz baby boy with no drugs or interventions. She even got a video of the birth and moments just after.
I highly recommend Angela to anyone looking for a doula in the Bay Area. I feel so fortunate to have found her. She provided excellent professional labor support even though in my case she was volunteering her services. I wish that I had been in position to pay her full fees as her services are well worth it.
I had a wonderful experience with Angela. I knew I wanted to have a Doula for this birth. I was in a new state with hardly any family. My mom lived too far away to be with me this time and my boyfriend was going to be in the room but didnt really understand/know how to comfort/support me. This was my second pregnancy and my first birthing experience was awful. I was induced, had a failed epidural, and know it all staff who made me feel dumb for asking questions. I am so thankful to have met Angela and that she was able to be my Doula. She really put me at ease and let me know that she was there for me. I loved how confident she was, her personality, and her joy in birth and babies.
I ended up being induced again but this time had a much better experience. I called Angela once pitocin was administered and my contractions were manageble but starting to become more than I could handle. It didn't take her too long to arrive. At that time, I was by myself so it was great having her support. Angela helped keep me calm,as I beathed through increasingly painful contractions. My plan was to see if I could deliver without an epidural but would be open to it. I was afraid to have another failed epidural. I was dialated to a 2, so I decided to see how I was progressing at my next check to decided wether to get the epi or not. I got to a point were the contrations were too much, they were bringing me to tears and yet Angela held my hand and told me how great I was doing. When I said I had enough, I wanted the epi she was accepting, helpful, and still encouraging. The nurse checked me, in just 3-4 hours I had dialated to a 6. Unfortunately, the anesthiesiologist was in a csection, this was my second baby, I was quickly progressing so I didn't have time for the epi and delivered a beautiful 7lb 12oz baby girl, without an epi. I couldn't believe it and couldn'tt have done this without the help of my Doula. Angela is an awesome person, understanding and encouraging!
