I was extremely fortunate to work with Chris as the doula for my last birth. She was a valuable mentor, resource, and "mirror," so to speak, as we worked through potential challenges and options during the prenatal period. Chris was incredibly calm and ready with practical help from the time she arrived in the labor process (even though we weren't 100% certain that it wasn't prodromal labor) through the completion of the birth. Her purposefulness and serenity as we moved from uncertainty to levels of intensity that were beyond thought were remarkable, and I would hope that every birthing person could enjoy such labor support.
So much to be grateful for, espcially as first time parents. So not sure where to start! Christine was absolutly wonderfel from the day we meet to discuss her doula servies and what exactly she would help us with. I immediately felt her positive caring energy and knew we had found our doula for life. We also attended her mindful birthing classes which complemented her doula servicees almost perfectly. This class also revealed to us how deep her love is for being a doula, the birthing process and mothers of this world. Christine took the time to explain every step we would encounter and how we can be proactive and when we needed to consult her and what she can do for us during our pregnacy and birth. Truley amazing for sure. Everytime my wife and I had a question or concern during our pregancy Christine was there to help. As the birth date drew near our questions and concerns grew, and of course Christine showed compassion, deligance and helped alivate any streeses we had. She would also reachout and make sure we were doing well even on days we had not reached out to her. I want to say that Christines dedication and knowlage helped us out tremendously in many aspects. Just know you have a 3rd person on this journey with us specifically to help out is a tremendous releif. So to continue, 2am is when our child decided to start her process of borth into this world, I called christine, without hesitation Christine answered the phone knew what to say and how to direct us. She meet us quickly and during the labor process she helped with pain mangament, guiding both my wife and myself in steps we can take to make the birth was joyful and ful of love. Christine does what she does best becuase of the LOVE, compassion, understanding and knowleagde she carries for mothers and their childeren, there is no other way yo explain it. She is a beautiful soul and carries her passion as if there is no other.
My husband and I knew from the moment we met Chris that we wanted to have her as our doula. She has such a positive energy, and a calming presence. Her and my husband made the perfect team, and helped make my birth experience exactly how I imagined it to be. She will definitely be our doula for the next baby as well!
I can’t say enough great things about Chris. She was a complete game changer for my birth experience.
With my firstborn I ended up (with what I think was an unnecessary) c section. I was bound and determined to have a VBAC and it was recommended to me to find a doula. And I am so glad I found Chris.
She is supportive of any and all of your personal preferences for your birth. She is understanding, caring, compassionate. Words just don’t do her justice, you need to meet her and talk with her to truly understand how amazing she is.
During my second labor I would have given up if it wasn’t for her. She pushed me to be brave and strong, and to remember my goals. She has a bag of tricks to make labor way more comfortable. Hind sight it 20/20.. I wish I had her the first time around!
She only takes on one person per month which was also a huge relief for me, I didn’t want to go into labor and end up with someone else. So you know she is the one that will be by your side.
I achieved my dream birth and I credit so much of it to Chris. Thank you for everything Chris, I am so grateful for you!
We were truly greatful for all of Chrissy throughout our birthing process. My husband and I are first time parents and Chris's classes and personal attention when we needed her was beyond professional to a new friendship. Anyone who takes her classes will get a wealth of needed information to make decisions during labor and having her be available during our labor was exactly what we needed for when we questioned ourselves. Thank you Chris for being there for us throughoit this process and now we have the best gift ever of our son.
I hired Chris for support through the pregnancy and birth of our first child. I knew that hiring a doula was right for me because I have a very limited (no) support system outside of my husband. We experienced a "failed pregnancy" 5 years ago, so I've been extremely hesitant to embark on this birth journey without additional support. Chris made me feel comfortable and much more prepared for the "labyrinth" of birth and early motherhood.
Chris was an outstanding resource for educating and empowering us through providing information and encouragement. My late pregnancy was challenging, my birth was one of those rare medical exceptions that necessitated a C-section (I got 4 medicall opinions). This was not the natural birth I initially prepared for, but Chris's support enabled me to be gentler with myself and to provide me with the resources necessary to make some very difficult decisions.
She attended the birth right before and after the c-secition and I am so happy she was there to remind me of the breathing and relaxing tools in my "toolbox" to preserve the sanctity of the birth experience and calm my nerves.
I am currently only 2 weeks post-partum, and Chris continues to be a strong support person with good information and recommendations for coping with this transition period to help keep sane and bond with my beautiful, healthy baby girl. :)
I recommend Chris to those who are looking to dig deep and have an empowered birth experience whether that is natural birth or not, or first time child or 3rd.
Christine had a wonderful positive reassuring personality. She was always approachable and had great information. Through late pregnancy, she would check in with me periodically, and answered all my questions. She also offered ideas for starting labor and getting baby positioned better. In the end, she made it to the hospital quickly despite my fast labor and she offered a calming reassuring voice and imagery as my baby was being born. I also loved that she was there to check in in those early days to see how things were going. I will definitely recommend her to friends!
Christine is an amazing doula! She is so supportive and loving. I wanted to have a doula that had specific training in the spinning babies technique, because my babies need a little extra help getting in the right position. Christine was excellent with the knowledge! I am so glad to have found her!
Christine was the first and only doula we met with and we knew immediately that she was perfect for us! I was very nervous about my upcoming birth and she had this peaceful vibe that helped keep me calm (well, as calm as possible) leading up to the big day. My previous labor was pretty intense and I really felt like a doula would have been a big help. Well, I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually enjoyed my labor - well, most of it anyway! She does an amazing hip squeeze that made my contractions completely painless until the end. She suggested positions for comfort and was such a soothing presense. I used a midwife who was pretty hands-off so it was very reassuring to have Christine with us the whole time. She absolutely helped keep me calm and focused - and kept hubby and me entertained :) Luckily my birth went very smoothly but I knew I was in capable hands if needed. Hiring a doula was a big decision for us because of the cost and it was hard to spend the money but hubby and I agree that she was truly worth every penny and then some. I so wish I had Christine with me for my previous birth and would use her again without hesitation!
This was our second birth with Chris and I can't speak highly enough of her. This time around baby #2 came very fast and she was on my speed dial. We had a home birth and as the dad, I was super anxious to have her and the midwife get there.
Unfortunately, I had to call her around midnight both times (these babies like to come in the middle of the night, it seems), but she rushed right over! She is super positive, has great energy, knows amazing pain coping techniques, is such a support for mommy and has your back 100% of the time.
We wouldn't do a birth without her and I know that she cares so deeply for all the little babies coming into the world and it's so amazing to have that energy and presence in the room as your little guy or girl is making their entrance into this world.
She should be one of the first people you call when you find out you are pregnant. She books out well ahead of time and you'll be glad to have her supporting you and your family.
Chris was absolutely amazing. When we first hired her it was because of a friends recommendation and I wasn't even sure if i needed a doula. I thought my husband and family could just handle it. I was SO wrong! Having Chris there was a godsend and I will never have another baby without her.
when you're going through labor it's sometimes hard to think or make decisions. She was able to not only help ease my pain with breathing and different techniques, but she was also my advocate to the hospital staff. She helped me make decisions based on her experience but she didn't judge me at all which was important to me.
she also knew how to speed up labor with different positions during contractions which is super good for the Baby.
Overall if you're looking to hire Chris just do it! Don't hesitate, you will love her and you will wonder how you could've ever done it without her :)
This is long, long, long overdue...
Chris Ghali went above and beyond her doula duties. She was everything I was looking for in a doula and more. Towards the end of my pregnancy, she started having some pretty serious bouts of morning sickness as she was in her first trimester of pregnancy. She was worried that she wouldn't be able to be there for me during my birth, so she called on a back-up doula friend of hers. This was really hard for me. I already felt like I had a connection with Chris, which if you meet her you will understand, it's hard not to. She has a very friendly demeaner. I met her doula friend, who happened to also be amazing, but I still felt uncomfortable with the situation. Chris was very attentive to my needs and concerns. She decided that she would be at my birth, no matter what, and she would bring the backup doula along with her. At this point, I felt like I won the jackpot. Not only would I have one great doula by my side, but two! Having Chris by my side during those laboring hours was crucial. She has an overwhelming sense of calm about her that helped me and my husband immensely. I didn't realize how powerful having a doula by my side would make me feel. There's something about having a strong female presence with you while you are going through the toughest, most incredible time of your life. I would highly recommend Chris Ghali to anyone seeking a doula. If I ever have the privilege of having another child, I hope Chris will be by my side.
When I found out I was pregnant I was filled with joy, excitement, and a little bit of nervousness. After our initial meeting with Christine Ghali (Chris), my husband and I knew she would be the perfect fit as our doula. She asked questions about how we imagined our birth experience would be and without judgement told us how she could help us.
Then we decided to take her “Birthing From Within” course — I'm so glad we did. Chris provided an open and warm atmosphere for us to learn how to get ready for our big day. We learned many lessons however the most important lesson was teaching us methods to cope with the challenges we could encounter during delivery. I also attended a Birth Circle (hosted by Chris) for the opportunity to meet other mothers and soon to be mothers to hear their birth stories. One aspect about Chris I love is that she guides you without lecturing.
On the day of the birth, I felt very confident in our preparedness. My initial nervousness had subsided knowing I was equipped with new tools to cope with any situation. During active labor, Chris's experience as an amazing doula became apparent and her presence truely facilitated the process to make it one of my greatest life events. To list all the ways she contributed would be too numerous but the most important are as follows:
-Advice on different labor positions
-Walked me through several relaxation exercises
-Used aromatherapy to help make me comfortable
-Intuitively knew when to give me a lower back massage (one of the nurses even made a comment that the room seemed like a spa!)
I felt I had a great support team including my husband and especially Chris who brought tons of experience to the delivery room. I knew Chris would be there for me no matter what happened and felt so fortunate to have her as my doula. I plan to have her by my side again and I highly recommend her to anyone that is preparing for childbirth.
Hiring Christine as our doula was the wisest choice, and best financial decision, my partner and I made planning our birth. We hoped for a water birth and chose a certified nurse midwife at a birth center. I interviewed and dismissed a couple potential doulas before we scheduled an in-person meeting with Christine. She shared her birthing and doula philosophies, and explained her role as a doula before, during, and after our birth. Chris listened as we described our preferences, desired birth experience, and hopes for the remainder of my pregnancy.
Chris provided helpful tips, recommended reading and access to her personal doula library, as well as support for the last remaining weeks of my pregnancy. When my water broke a week before our due date, she calmly assured us that she was prepared to guide and support us as we checked in with our midwife, and made arrangements to go to the birth center. As we navigated through the several decisions we had to make once my water broke, Chris remained ever-present but unobtrusive. My contractions started within hours of my water breaking but they would start and stop for the following few days as we discussed our options for encouraging active labor through a variety of natural induction methods Chris and our midwife presented and we selected.
My fiance and I slept very little during my nearly-three day labor. Chris was an indispensible member of our birth team as she ensured I stay hypdrated; delivered physical, emotional, and mental support to me (and my tired fiance); and assisted us in making safe, informed, and effective choices which resulted in a hospital transfer. At the hospital, Chris became our family advocate--her previous experience, calm demeanor, and professionalism were a haven during our birth.
I will continue to praise Christine and her doula services, and highly recommend her as a competent, caring, professional doula.
I am so thankful for Chris and so happy we chose her as our Doula. As first time parents, we didn't know what to expect in the delivery room. All the books in the world can't prepare you for labor. Chris fulfilled our needs in ways that we didn't even expect. She was helpful in suggesting different labor positions, reminding me to relax, providing aromatherapy, rationalizing the situation (talking me off a cliff, if you will), taking pictures, taking notes, and offering all around support. I am so glad she was there and would hire her again in a heartbeat!!!
Christine was a strong, supportive presence during the birth of our daughter. We had an espescially hard and long labor and she helped to relieve pain by squeezing my hips through the night, making sure I had enough fluids and honey and remaining positive throughout. When it seemed a hospital transfer was a possibility, she helped me to summon my strength and give me the space I needed to safely deliver our daughter at home. We hope to have her at the births of all our children.
She is a strong, happy, postive earth mama! Just the kind of energy you want during labor.
I can't say enough about our positive experience working with Chris. She is incredibly kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable. Her constant support and calm presence helped us through the entire birth process. And while our birth wasn't what we planned, Chris helped us understand our options allowing us to make informed decisions without judgement. We also completed her Birthing From Within birth class. Chris is a wonderful educator who cares deeply about the couples she works with. Chris is passionate about birth and that reflects in the unyielding care she gives to those she works with.
Chris Ghali is a fantastic doula! She took the time to get to know me and my husband throughout our first pregnancy. We completed the Birthing From Within series of classes with her. She listened to our concerns in the months prior to giving birth. We never felt judged for the way we wanted to give birth, in a hospital setting, but drug and intervention free. She thoughtfully answered all of my questions and relieved my worries prior to giving birth. She even offfered her support after birth while I learned to breastfeed. I truly feel that I had exactly type of birth I wished for because Chris was supporting us the entire time. She seemed to know exactly what I wanted and needed at every stage of labor, offering massage, affirmations and a calming presence. My once skeptical husband is now convinced that every woman shold have a doula supporting her throughout labor.
