Saralynn acted as our doula in June 2015 for the birth of our first child. We delivered at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura.

Her prenatal visits were extremely helpful as we finalized our birth plan. She was very organized and the topics she brought up spurred good discussions about what we really desired for the birth.

During labor she arrived at the perfect time. Our goal was to labor at home as long as possible before going to the hospital. She gave us the confidence to do just that. As soon as she arrived at our house I felt calmer. Saralynn was attentive and sensitive. Her techniques were wonderful. For example, as I moved into transition and the labor became more intense I became high pitched and my body would tense. Saralynn began to make low pitch moaning sounds, which I could mimick and it allowed me to relax and stay calm. I feel like we  would not have known when exactly to go to the hospital, but Saralynn knew.

At the delivery she became a great advocate and assistant. Bringing my water to drink and cold compresses. Saralynn hleped me find a comfortable position for labor and delivery. Her coaching in the final moments (crowning) were spot on, telling me to pant was key to reducing peri trauma. Our baby was born in less than an hour after arriving at the hospital, perfect timing. And using our camera she got the pictures we wanted.

Postpartuam visits were also very helpful. She showed us a great swaddle. Gave some helpful breastfeeding tips. And pointed us to some local parent, new mother and breastfeeding support groups.

Bottom line is, Saralynn was wonderful coach and advocate. She complimented out natural childbirth class perfectly and helped us have the birth we wanted. Thank you Saralynn.

Saralynn was the door into my conscious birthing experience.

As a "no kids" ," CEO","road bike every weekend", "kind of in a relationship with the father" gal, I knew two things about my birth plan: 1) I needed to find Saralynn Finn and understand what a birthplan was and then write one, and 2) I needed to ID the best midwifery team in Southern CA and hope they chose me to work with.

Saralynn was so calm and confident at our first meeting, she immediately understood where I was and how scared/unprepared I was for the months ahead. With a kind and open heart, she walked me through each threshold and allowed me to "graduate" myself as I learned each lesson into motherhood and became the queen of the house.

Massages sometimes weekly, food plans and meal prep, drafting the birth plan, interfacing with doctors and my midwife team (whom she deeply respected), listening to my concerns and breakthroughs weekly... Saralynn was my birth partner when I did not have one. And when my baby's Father returned to the scene, Saralynn graciously educated and prepared him as well.

At the birth, Saralynn was my rock. I had a fairly easy time until the back labor began. Those contractions required her to squeeze my hips bones together, everytime, for over 7 hours. She showed incredible stamina, endurance, faith, and commitment. I am getting chills as I write this. I COULD NOT HAVE HAD SUCH A GORGEOUS BIRTH WITHOUT THIS WOMAN.

Call her, meet her, trust her.

And blessings with your own magical birth.

After hours of laboring at home, my husband called Saralynn asking what we should do and she immediately came over. When she arrived at our house it changed the whole atmosphere - I felt rejuvenated physically and renewed emotionally to continue. She worked with us to try different positions and helped me try a variety of things to help reposition our baby to help her come down. She provided a calming influence and helped me to relax and breathe through the process. With Saralynn's support, we were able to understand when it was time to go to the hospital and by the time we got there I was already 8 centimeters dilated, having been able to spend as much time at home as possible, thanks to her support. She stood by my side at the hospital the entire time, providing needed back rubs, comforting me with her words of encouragement and helping me relax and work through the waves. Also very importantly, she provided support to my husband as he endured the long labor with me and coached me through it. She was a guide not just to myself, but him as well. When it came time to push, she proved herself even further by providing me with warm and cold compresses as needed and keeping me calm and supporting me through the exhaustion. She helped me focus and guide me in how to effectively push. She stayed focuses on everything going on and kept us informed. At times we felt lost in what was happening, but she made sure to explain all the seeming chaos to us. She was the one that explained to us what they were doing with our baby girl when she came out and when she saw the nurse about to throw away the placenta we had requested they save, she sprinted out of the room to save the placenta just before it was thrown out. Without her, we would not have had that special gift. I wholeheartedly recommend Saralynn to anyone looking for a doula. Having her there to support us, allowed us to be assured and more relaxed during such a wondrous and life-changing experience.

Saralynn was great! Our prepardum appointments were informative and she had great suggestions to help prepare for the birth. We had a hospital birth and having her there was  extremely helpful to both of us offering support, massages, information and even some laughs. Postpardum she was able to continue support by offering us solutions and knew of other resources when we had breastfeeding issues. We would definitely recommend!

Sarahlynn is an excellent doula.  She clearly has experience and knowledge that is extremely helpful and she has a very upbeat, friendly and caring as well as professional demeanor.  Her communication style really was a blessing, as she has carefully studied communication and it shows.  My baby clearly felt comfortable with her too.  She is dependable and responsible regarding coordinating scheduling.  Regarding getting things done - she is a fast worker and would ask what more she could do for me frequently, really wonderful.  I was able to benefit from her great services for more than two weeks, but unfortunately moved after that, I wish she lived where I do now so that she could have come to help more often here.  Of the three doulas I have worked with, I definitely preferred her the most.  Hihgly recommend.
