Both of these women are amazing and a pleasure to work with. They did an excellent job of keeping both my wife and myself sane, and they were super helpful through the whole process.

Worth every penny we paid for them, and frankly were probably worth more than that.

My experience with them was so phenomenal I'm considering scrapping my plan to adopt the rest of my family, just so I can work with them again.

Paula and Madie are an exceptional doula team! I would highly recommend them to everyone. They are very knowledgeable, kind, flexible and essential for any birth. I had my first child unexpectedly at 32 weeks, and Paula was willing to attend my birth on a few minutes notice. I'll never forget the peace and strength that empowered me as soon as Paula entered the room. She explained what was happening and calmed me and helped me through an unmedicated birth. Madie additionally provided breastfeeding support. Madie came to the hospital right after we called her to explain techniques I could use to relieve the pain I was experiencing. Paula and Madie also helped me process and grieve the loss of a normal pregnancy and birth. Their support has given me the greatest gift; I am forever grateful and humbled by their work. I wish I could give them the most highly regarded award, but the second best thing I can give them in return is a 10 out of 10 rating.

From the moment we met her, my husband and I both knew we wanted Paula for our doula. Her cheerful and friendly demeanor put us at ease immediately. She introduced us to birthing information and options that we wouldn't have otherwise considered, but respected any decisions we made. We were thrilled to have Madie on board at our birth as well, and appreciated her lactation information. I felt confident through the whole birthing experience, because I knew I was in good hands. We couldn't have done it without them!

I have NOTHING but good things to say about Paula and the positive impact she had on our birth story. The support she provided us with during our pregnancy, labor, and delivery was phenomenal. I ultimately attribute her guidance and support in the delivery room the main reason I was able to have a natural vaginal birth, which was our number one goal. She was very tuned-in to what I was needing, whether it was to be in the bathtub, switching up positions, massage, and the emotional support towards the end of my labor.

As first time parents, my husband and I were VERY nervous and un-educated, so having Paula as a resource throughout our pregnancy was something that we will never forget! My husband will tell you he is also very grateful for Paula's services. I was in labor a total of 36 hours, which included 5 hours of pushing, and Paula allowed him to take a "break" and make sure that he was doing okay. If Paula had not been there, that definitely would not have happened! :)

I would HIGHLY recommend Paula to anyone looking for a doula. You will not be disappointed in your experience. I cannot imagine having another baby without her by my side. Thanks Paula, we love you! :)

My wife and I instantly connected with Paula - there are just some people you meet that you feel comfortable around right away - Paula is one of those people. For all of the Dad's out there take it from me - having a Doula is fantastic! I couldn't have imagined going through Laura's pregnancy and labor/delivery without Paula at our side every step of the way. We are very lucky that we chose Paula to be our Doula - can't wait to partner with her for our next kiddos :)

My husband and I could not have been happier with the service we received from Paula. Paula went above and beyond our expectations as our doula for the birth of our daughter this past February. Being first time parents, my husband and I were a little nervous for the whole birth experience. We didn’t know what to expect and had lots of questions for Paula throughout the whole process. Each time we met with Paula she took the time we needed to help us feel comfortable and prepared. Her knowledge in the birth industry is unmatched! She has a calming and caring personality and is the perfect person to be by your side encouraging and supporting you as you bring your child into the world. We couldn’t have imagined sharing such an intimate experience with anyone else and would recommend her to anyone considering her services!

I’m elated that we choose to hire Paula as our doula! She was a phenomenal support during late pregnancy, labor and postpartum. Paula played a big role in my ability to feel confident and focus on the work of giving birth naturally, which was my ultimate wish. Paula did a wonderful job getting to know our hopes for the birthing experience and preparing us so that when my labor started I felt confident in what to expect and safer since she would be there to help me stay focused and suggest pain management techniques. Paula was a constant calming presence during my labor and delivery. Having her as part of the team was not only a huge support to me but allowed my husband to feel more confident in his ability to support me through labor. Paula was great at kindly, yet strongly, telling me I could indeed do this when my confidence and energy started to waver.

My husband and I are so grateful to Paula for the positive impact she had on our birth story. If we have more children in the future we will definitely be reaching out to Paula to come on board as our doula again.

I first learned about doula's half way through my second pregnancy and knew that I had to have one for when our baby arrived. I contacted Paula and she was very quick to respond and set up consult appointment. As soon as I met her I knew that Paula was the doula that I wanted. My husband was a little hesitant about hiring a doula, but after talking to Paula at our first meeting, He was on board 100%. Paula was very helpful during the prenatal visits with guiding us through to make the birth plan and even different positions that we could try during labor. The time came for our baby to be born and Paula arrived at the hospital within mintues after we arrived. During contractions Paula assisted me in helping me manage the pain and to stay focused. When I would get off focus, Paula's calm soothing voice helped me get back on top of my contactions and be incontrol once more. I can not tell you enough how amazingly helpful that was. I completely trusted Paula to assist me through my contractions. Paula empowered me to have the natural birth that I had planned on. I am so very thankful that I learned what a doula was and that I had Paula there!  I can not reccomend her enough! I tell all of my pregnant friends that they NEED a doula, everyone NEEDS a doula!

Thank you Paula for assisting me in one of the most amazing and memorial days of my life!

When my wife mentioned that she wanted to get a doula for the birth of our 4th child I thought to myself I really didn’t know what she was talking about. Obviously misinformed, my wife explained to me what a doula is and their purpose. I was a little taken back as this was our 4th child and we survived the previous births relatively easy, or so I thought. When I met Paula Meyer for the first time my view changed. She is knowledgeable, personal and just an overall joy to be around and I knew from early on that she was going to be a great partner to have during the birthing process.

The day finally came and my wife went into labor. Paula came over around 12am and stayed by our side for the next 30 hours, without a break. She helped my wife with different positions to help alleviate pain, talked through potential outcomes on complex decisions and most of all she was an anchor to keep my wife and I calm and grounded in a very stressful situation.

My entire experience with Paula was positive. I can’t praise the quality of work she did for us enough! If I could go back in time I would have her by our side for our first three births. If you are on the fence on whether or not to hire a doula, just remember you’re not just getting an educated person to help make tough decisions but also a partner that is there to support not only the mother, but everyone else in the room!

I worked with Paula for the birth of my second son Canaan on August 28th, 2015.  Having had a home birth experience without a doula, I definitely recommend having a doula.  She made my pregnancy very stress free and helped my labor progress much quicker.  My birth was at the St Cloud Hospital and her familiarity with the process and staff made everyone at ease.  She was a wonderful support for my husband, first son and I.  What I really admired about Paula was her ability to listen and empower you to make the right decisions as a family and without the influence of anyone else's opinion, including her own. Her skill as a massage therapist was also quite beneficial in relieving the pain of contractions and having massages in my last trimester made it a lot more relaxing and a truly enjoyable pregnancy.  Thank you for such a sweet and wonderful pregnancy Paula.

Paula assisted at the birth of my son and was very instrumental in keeping me calm and prepared for and during the big day. I delivered nine days early, so it was extremely helpful to have her knowledge and assistance through the stressful time. We met a few times prior to birth to discuss my birth plan and she made sure I understood my options and supported my decisions. At the hospital, she was helpful in supporting my decisions and relaying that information when I was not able to. [Example: when pushing and I didn't quite have the energy to speak up clearly for myself, she spoke up for me when something that was mentioned in my birth plan was not acknowledged.]

I had been admitted earlier in the day and didn't give birth until the next night. At first, they didn't want me to eat but didn't really tell me why, thankfully Paula came prepared with snacks so I could keep my energy up until actually going into labor the next day. I was told multiple contradicting statements regarding my care, I texted her at about 3 in the morning and she was at the hospital quickly to make sure I was alright and understood my options in every decision.

Paula is great at staying calm under pressure. She consistently reminded me to stay relaxed without being condescending. She used several methods that fit my style to keep me calm such as massage, essential oils and a soothing voice. We also met after the birth to check in and review how the birth went and to ensure things were going ok in the first few weeks at home with my son. I'm very thankful Paula was a part of my birth experience. I can't think of anyway it could have been better [except making it to my actual due date :)]

This is my first time using Paula Meyer doula services and I was very happy with our design to do that. This was my second birth and there is a ten year gap between my first and second child. Even though it's like starting over again I did remember my first experience without a doula and it was like a night and day difference. Having Paula there really showed me how emotional and spiritual the birthing process is. Paula is very passionate about what she does and you feel that passion when your interacting with her. Me and my husband are very grateful for the experience that we had using a doula.

We worked with Paula for our daughter's recent birth. Honestly, I don't know how we would've done it without her! She worked to get to know us in order to more effectively help us in the delivery room. She was attentive to me while in labor, but never pushy. She offered suggestions of what might be useful to us/me, and I am so grateful to have had her support. We started the process by asking her to travel to our house at midnight. She came, checked in on us, and waited with us through the night until my water broke and we decided to go to the hospital. Paula stayed with us the whole time, helping us feel secure in a new-to-us process. She helped me feel more at-ease, and she truly helped us have the kind of birth experience we wanted. I couldn't have asked for a better doula!

As a dad, I was hesitant at first when the idea of a doula was brought up. My first thought was, I didn't want to be replaced. But that is not at all what happened. Paula was there to help and assist with the entire process! She helped with explaining what our rights as parents were. Very valuable in making my wife comfortable and being there for her needs throughout the laboring process. She not only tended and assited with my wife's every need, but she also didnt forget about dad. Its was nice of her to just ask and make sure I was doing ok too!
There is no way we would every go without Paula again

Paula was an amazing teacher and doula. My husband and I were expecting our first child and decided to hire a doula to prep us in understanding what to expect (medication, process, healthy pregnancy, etc.) I wanted to have a medication free vaginal birth. Paula's doula services -- gave me the confidence that I am able to have the birth I wanted. In the end - we were able to deliver our beautiful baby boy (medication free well minus the induction.)
Paula was always just a text or a phone call away for all the questions I have during my pregnancy leading up to the big day.

We highly recommend Paula and her services!

I had the pleasure of working with Paula as my doula for the birth of my son in October, 2014. Going into my pregnancy, I knew that I wanted to try to achieve a med free birthing- but more importantly I wanted to have a positive birth experience. Being that this was my first pregnancy, it was truly a comfort and blessing to have someone with so much experience and knowledge to turn to throughout pregnancy and during labor. (Bonus that she is also a massage therapist and a self proclaimed birth junkie with, I swear, an answer for everything!) Paula was always only a phone call or an e-mail away. Our prenatal meetings were so informative and helpful and really helped me prepare for what to expect during labor. Not only was Paula there for me, but she was there to support my husband as well. He could be more present for me during labor because he was at ease and comfotable and not having to question what was going on. I cannot emphasize enough how integral it is to have someone present during your birth experience that can act as your advocate. I was able to achieve the med free birth I desired and I have Paula to thank for acting as a pillar for both myself and my husband. I will always be grateful for Paula and will not go through another labor again without having her present, she is worth her weight in gold!

Paula was a angel for me! Without her I would not have achieved my vaginally birth after two sections. She is inspires and keeps with her client and there wishes. She shred knowledge and is always avaliable to talk to. She also involves a spouse to allow them to feel as involved as they wish. I absolutely adore this woman and believe she is someone that any woman would be blessed to have at birth! I recommend her to any one pregnant! she has a way about her that just sets her at ease.

My experience giving birth to my second child was vastly improved from my first because I resourced The Journey for doula services. Doula Paula was a phenomenal asset during labor and delivery, assisting by massage, use of essential oils, giving my husband more confidence to do his part, and keeping me focused and calm. I always hoped one day I could deliver a baby naturally-without pain medication or surgical procedures-and I don't think I ever really believed I could do it until I had the help of a doula. My labor and delivery was only 3 hours long, I did not use any medication, I had very minor tearing after the pushing phase, and my healthy baby's first breastfeeding was very successful. These are all accomplishments I attribute partially to my doula. I will not give birth to a child without a doula ever again.

Paula is simply amazing! I wanted an un-medicated birth, especially after the experience I had with my first child. To be honest, I was very scared that I wouldn't be able to do it. I at times doubted my abilities the days before my son was born because I was going to be induced. I feared that with the Pitocin, and the strong contractions it can cause, that I wouldn't be able to stick to my original plan of an un-medicated birth. The pre-birth visits with Paula helped my family tremendously with planning details such as our birth plan, and helped me feel so much more confident about my choices. When my husband and I arrived at the hospital for my induction, Paula was there bright-eyed, excited, and ready to go. Her ease of conversation, professional aptitude, and calm spirit helped tame my nerves (and my husbands) immediately. Paula kept up an amazing rapport with my nurses, and helped me find my voice concerning my birth plan. Paula was amazing with helping with different positions, breathing techniques, use of calming essential oils, massage, pressure points, and allowing my husband the ability to help her help me. I truly believe that with Paula's strength, my strength was bolstered. Especially when things became rough for me and I began to panic. She was always right there at my side, and she intuitively began to assist and help me to relax before I could even voice it. Thanks to Paula, I was able to have a COMPLETELY un-medicated birth. I only needed a small lvl of Pitocin to help my labor, and I feel this is due to all of the position changes and help from Paula. My husband felt awesome that he had the ability to help in the process and he feels that Paula's advice and support allowed him to be strong enough for the both of us, and made him an essential partner. I cannot stress enough how invaluable Paula was to my birth story. I am thankful for her, and will remain thankful to her always.

Paula Meyer was present for the homebirth of my second child in September of 2012.  Paula, before my delivery date was available via phone and for in person consulation and discussion.  Paula was clear about her role and was open to any change which might develop as the delivery date approached.  Paula quickly responded to my call regarding the start of labor and honored my request regarding arrival time.

Paula demonstrated her ability to communicate with my midwife and partner regarding my labor and any concerns she had.  Paula was a physical, spiritual and emotional support to myself and partner during the birth process.  She used supportive pressure and touch which assisted in decreasing any discomfort, due to the birth process I was experiencing.  Paula has a positive and open approach which is present in her doula role.  Paula demonstrated competency regarding my quick progress and was instrumental in a successful homebirth and recovery.  Paula, after the birth, assisted in ensuring my ongoing comfort and that of my partner and family.

As my home delivery went quickly there were many adjustments which were made.  Paula demonstrated flexibility and openess to these changes along with communicating her thoughts regarding options.  Paula maintained confidentiality regarding the birth of my daughter.  I would highly recommend Paula to anyone seeking doula services.
