I had a natural birth at the hospital and Claire was our doula. She met with us several times before the birth to make sure we could talk about desires and plans and fears, and even though we never took a birth class thanks to her we felt very prepared. She was totally supportive of whatever kind of birth we would want or need to have, be it c-section, epidural, natural, home birth, etc. She was very knowlegable about it all and had good experience with different births. For my labor it was very comforting to know that she would come to our house to be with me while I was in labor but before I needed to go to the hospital, although my labor ended up progressing so quickly that we never did sit around at home like we thought we would but went straight to the hospital instead. She was so helpful during labor; she had lots of encouragement for both myself and my husband, and lots of good suggestions. My husband was especially thankful for her prescence since watching me go through natural labor was very intense for him, and with her calm and reassuring prescence he didn't have to go through that alone. When we first got pregnant we thought we wouldn't need a doula, but we changed our minds about halfway though and we are so glad we did! It made such a difference to have Claire be there the whole time, start to finish, she was such a support. We absolutely loved having Claire be our doula, and plan on having her many more times in the future! And a bonus, if you want this sort of thing, she knows tons about cloth diapering and babywearing, since she uses them herself, and she's helped me out a lot with both!

I wanted a natural childbirth at home. That didn't happen. I wanted a smooth delivery with limited interventions. That didn't happen. I wanted the support of a good Doula. That happened. What Claire Shea lacks in experience she more than makes up for with energy, adaptability, kindness and encouragement. Claire's passion for being a Doula is almost tangible. She is going to have a long and successful career helping to bring many babies into this world. Our daughter is blessed to be one of Claire's first. If you are looking for a Doula who will listen openly to your needs, someone to be a reassuring presence and help guide you through labor, look no further.

Claire Shea did a fantastic job of helping my wife and I get through a difficult birth experience. Claire spent 24 straight hours with the two of us as we journeyed from a planned home birth to a hospital C-Section. Claire's greatest strength as a doula is knowing when her clients need something and when to step back. She worked well with the various members of our birth team from the Midwife and assistant at home to the stranger doctors at the hospital. She was a calming voice at times of panic, a great aid in moments where I froze up and willing to do any task asked of her. She also waited for us patiently while the C-Section was being performed.

If you are looking for a doula filled will enthusiasm and passion for her work, look no further.

We were so pleased with Claire that she was the first person after our parents to learn our daughters name.
