My family partnered with Michelle for both of our children’s births, and no amount of words would be able to express our praise and gratitude for Michelle.
Michelle’s calm presence and depth of experience is why we used her as our doula in the first place. Her calm energy was present both during our prenatal appointments, birth, and post-partum. She is an affirming and accepting doula that does not try to impart “the perfect birth”, she accepts what you are wanting and helps guide you through that process.
Pre-natal appointments looked like talking through concerns, thoughtfully answering questions, sending relatable resources, being available via phone, showing different laboring techniques without it feeling like a class, and just checking-in.
My first labor was relatively long, and my partner really valued her as a sounding board when I could only focus on labor. Michelle was such a solid presence during that labor; she would show different positions to help get baby positioned, offered hydration, and affirmed me in the exact way I needed during the different up and down emotional and physical stages. With second child, we were uncertain if we wanted a doula, and am extremely happy we had Michelle. My second labor was much quicker, and even amid the chaos of fast birth, Michelle helped me focus and lifted my confidence.
Post-partum, Michelle made sure my partner and I were both hydrating, eating, and helped me with breast feeding. A week or so later, she sat down and walked through the labor, which was a welcomed resource since my memory for both labors were slightly unclear.
My family and I highly recommend Michelle, her experience, energy and resourcefulness are worth the investment. She is the best advocate for all types of births and all types of mothers.
Michelle supported me through a tough second pregnancy. It was nice to have someone to talk to because all of my family lives far away. When I was admitted for preterm labor, she came to be with me at the hospital. Thankfully I was able to not deliver my baby early! Michelle provided endless support in the days leading up to my delivery. During the birth she was absolutely amazing! She gave my husband ways to help me through contractions. She encouraged me to work through each contraction even when I wanted to give up. She made sure my wishes were followed by the hospital staff. I can’t say enough great things about her! My birth was absolutely perfect. This is due largely to Michelle’s support and encouragement.
Our son had the distinction of being the first birth Michelle assisted with on her own as a student doula. However, you would never have guessed she was a student from the care we recieved and the professionalism she showed. She came to our home to help me during early labor and then transitioned to the hospital with us. Her help was invaluable. She has a quiet, calming presence. My memory of labor is a bit fuzzy (no surprise there!), but what I do remember is that Michelle and my partner were there every step of the way. Michelle knew the right spots to press on my back during contractions. She reminded me to keep my moans and groans in a lower pitch. She kept me in constant supply of Gatorade. And she must have helped me up and down... about as many times as I had contractions over the course of hours of labor. My son is now approaching 3 years old and is a happy, healthy boy. I am now expecting my second child and guess who we will be contacting to see if she can be the doula for us again? I highly recommend her!
Michelle was my doula for the birth of my second son, which was in July of 2012. When I met with Michelle, I knew right away I didn't need to look any further for my doula. I was attempting a VBAC with the agreement with my doctor that if I didn't go into natural labor I would have a scheduled c section. I tried Accupunture to kick start labor, and contractions started but stopped and I ended up going in for a c section. Michelle was extremely understanding and supportive through this emotionally trying time. She was open to attending to me in any way I needed her to. My husband was not able to be in surgery with me, as we had no one to care for my 2.5yr old. Michelle stood by my side during the entire surgery, holding my hand, offering comfort, taking pictures and describing the birth of my son. We had already decided that she would leave me to follow my son to have skin time with my husband while I was in recovery. I unexpectedly had my spinal start to wear off while being stitched up and had to be quickly sedated. All of these things, Michelle handled beautifully. She took wonderful care of me, my son, and my family. She was warm and supportive. She was the first person to hold my son. She came to the house after the birth to see how we all were. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, and I know any who chooses Michelle as their doula will not be disappointed.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Michelle! I am so grateful she was our doula for my son's birth. She was incredibly helpful and very attentive to our needs. She was easy to get a hold of before and after the birth and was always available to answer our questions. During my labor and delivery she did whatever she could to help. She was very encouraging to both my husband and to me. She helped us to both feel confident in my ability to have a medication free birth. The whole experience was beautiful and we're thankful to have had Michelle help us through it.
Michelle is awesome! We loved having her as our doula. There is not enough room here to fit in all our praises for her. She stuck by our sides during our tulmoltulous birthing experience. I don't know what we would have done if we did not have her there to assure us that we were all going to be okay. I would not hesitate to recommend Michelle to anyone who wants a doula who will be there for you, support you and assist you through such a special life event!
