I literally can not say enough nice things about Lauren. She helped me with both my babies Oct 2016 and Feb 2018. Lauren made sure I knew all of my prenatal, birthing and postnatal options. Even after my husband and I took all of our labor and delivery and newborn care classes through our hospital, Lauren was able to give us so much more individualized information and help.
I am 100% confident that my labor and deliveries went so smoothly because Lauren empowered my husband and me with the knowledge and support we needed. Lauren made both labors and deliveries a truly positive experience for my family and me. She has so much knowledge and a very calming presence.
All of her information and support was personalized to us. There was never any pressure or judgement to do anything we did not want to do.
The best thing about having Lauren in the delivery was she was another voice advocating our needs and wants to the midwives and nurses. We never felt "railroaded" by our medical team, which was my biggest fear, because she was able to talk through any interventions that were offered and reminded us that we had a choice. Lauren empowered me to have the labor and delivery I had always hoped for!
I was very happy with Lauren's warm, professional service. She powdered my placenta and was on hand to pick it up at the hospital with a quick turn around. I had no postpartum depression or struggles and I really credit taking the placenta pills. I plan to use her again for my next baby and I highly recommend her! Thanks!
Lauren is wonderful! My husband and I choose her as our doula because she had this great kind, strong and wonderful energy to her and we made the right choice. All of our family is on the East Coast and this being our first child we thought a doula would be a good idea. Lauren so came through for us as a great support person during labor. My husband and I both feel thankful and blessed that she was there for us. She was amazingly helpful and insightful during my labor and was great at recognizing what we needed and when to assist and when to back off and let my husband take the lead. She was also a great resource for postpartum questions about baby when she made her after birth visit. So glad that she was there with us to welcome our sweet boy. -The Perry family
Lauren Doiron attended the birth of our first son, Joshua, on March 1, 2016. Having her with us was one of the best decisions my husband and I made.
Being prone to anxiety, I was nervous about making it to the hospital in time and about the birthing experience in general. Lauren helped us feel calm and comfortable at home for the first 8 hours. She provided massages and guidence and I was able to move around the house trying different positions for laboring. Lauren and my husband, Jake, worked together to keep my mind off of the contractions and Lauren gave us lots of opportunities to have quiet moments together. When I decided I was ready to go to the hospital, Lauren helped us understand what our options were when talking to our doctor and nurses and how to respectfully ask for more time before making decisions about interventions / medications.
Lauren continued to support us after my labor; she dropped by to check in on us, provided guidance with lactation and also facilitated placenta encapsulation. I highly recommend encapsulation as I am finding that it is helping with my physical healing and energy.
Joshua is healthy and happy and we would highly recommend Lauren to anyone looking for a calm and peaceful birthing experience. Thank you Lauren!!
My husband John and I had our first baby, a girl, this January with Lauren as our doula. We chose to give birth in a hospital for financial reasons but wanted as natural an experience as possible. Lauren listened carefully to all our preferences and concerns at our first meeting and gave helpful suggetions about how we could acheive them in the hospital setting. From the start she was warm, friendly, professional and caring. We felt like we were in good hands. And we were. My birth wasn't an easy one - three days of labor including some prodromal labor at the beginning. Lauren gave lots of good advice as we tried to figure out what was going on and generously gave her time to come over and help despite the fact things weren't moving so fast. Once things finally did get underway, she was great at helping John get me through painful contractions while still allowing us time to be a couple and support each other. When I wanted to go to the hospital, she reminded me it would probably be better to wait. Once at the hospital, she helped make the room warm and homey with candles, music and other elements. When the midwife suggested interventions because things weren't moving so fast, Lauren gentlys suggested a more natural technique - bouncing on the birth ball - which worked!
While it was a hard birth, it was natural - just the way I wanted - and John and I really feel we couldn't have done it that way without Lauren's wisdom and support. I'd absolutely recommend her. We had a great experience!
I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to have Lauren as a doula. She immediately drew my husband and I to her when we met her, with her warm smile and her down-to-earth and natural personality. Her English accent is pretty irresistible too! She was such a key part of our birth preparation and experience, from helping me articulate a birth plan, to providing endless patient and practical advice during labor and delivery, to the sweetest letter she wrote for my daughter telling the story of her birth- Lauren will always be special to us because of the role she played in our daughter's birth. As a family doctor who does deliveries and newborn care myself, I knew I would need help getting out of my "doctor brain" and getting into my "mommy body." Lauren gently and firmly reminded me that my body was meant for this, and I had the most amazing vaginal delivery of my sweet little girl. I felt affirmed and supported the whole time. As a doctor I knew the evidence behind doulas- that they can shorten labor and help prevent cesarean sections- but now I can say from personal experience that choosing to have Lauren as our doula was one of the best decisions we made. I would highly recommend her services!
Amy (and husband Lance and baby Ellie!)
We met Lauren when looking for a doula for the birth of our first son. I was wanting to try natural childbirth and use the Bradley method during my labor. My husband and I felt a connection with Lauren right away. She was calm, understanding, a great listener, proactive and extremely supportive of our wants and desires. I ended up being 16 days late and spent 53 hours in labor. I cannot tell you what a fantastic help Lauren was to not only me, but also to my husband. Because my labor was relatively long, she was able to give my husband breaks, help me get into new positions, give massage, offer up suggestions for new techniques and remind us and the doctors of our birth plan. Although our birth ended in a c-section, I am ao thankfull Lauren was there to help us keep calm and aid me in delivering a healthy baby, which was our ultimate goal. I couldn'to imagine delivering another baby without her! If the money is ever a factor when picking a doula, Lauren is worth every penny and more! Plus you never know what kind of birth experience you will end up having so it is best to be prepared! All this to say, I felt prepared with Lauren! She is an amazing doula, woman and mother!
"I was attempting to have a vaginal birth after a previous csection and knew that I wanted a doula at the birth. Lauren was recommended to me and I connected with her right away at our first meeting. She was warm and easy to talk to. After we hired her I immediately felt relief- I was so nervous and didn't know what to expect and was excited to have her support to count on. I loved that she had us think about things that we wouldn't have even considered discussing with our doctors and helped us write a birth plan that was perfect for our situation. Lauren checked in with me prior to the labor which eased my mind further and helped me get excited for the big day. She was in touch with us from the minute I went into labor and helped me make decisions throughout the labor that would have been overwhelming had she not been there. Her massage and pressure techniques were awesome! I ended up with a perfect vaginal birth and a perfect baby girl."
I met Lauren at the end of my second trimester. I was pregnant with my first, a baby girl! Due to recent circumstances in my life I found myself going through the process of planning for the birth of my daughter alone, and preparing to raise this amazing little bean inside me as a single mother. In addition to the normal feelings of overwhelm and excitement that I imagine come with any pregnancy, I was looking for someone who would help support me during this sensitive and emotional transition in my life.
The moment I met Lauren I knew she was it; she was the compassionate, grounded, supportive person I was looking for to be a part of this amazing experience. She immediately put me at ease with her calm, sweet demeanor. She made the unknowns of pregnancy and childbirth seem not so scary with all of her knowledge and personal experiences. Lauren had a way of explaining things that made sense and took away any of the first-time-mommy jitters. She was so sweet, so accommodating of my needs, and made it so easy to help me prepare for the birth of my daughter.
She worked alongside my closest girlfriends to welcome my daughter into this world. Even though I had friends willing to be a part of my labor and birthing experience, Lauren proved to be a calming and grounding force that I needed.
Not only would I highly recommend Lauren because of her unbelievable love and dedication to what she does, but because she genuinely cares about the the people she works with. Lauren and I have kept in touch and she still checks in to see how we are doing. I am happy to call her a friend.
It was such a positive experience working with and getting to know Lauren. Anyone would be lucky to have her be a part of such an emotional and monumental moment in their lives.
My husband and I were grateful to have had Lauren at the birth of our daughter. Having no idea what to expect or the types of things we should consider, Lauren was able to walk us through the entire process step-by-step. She shared resources and knowledge about the various pros and cons for each option available to us throughout the labor and delivery process and was a great coach throughout. It was so comforting to have her support, knowledge, strength and sense of calm throughout the entire experience. She also spent time documenting our birth for us which was a real treasure for us. We now have a written story of the day to share with our daughter once she grows up!
My partner and I were very careful with who we chose to be at our birth. When we met Lauren we knew instantly that she would bring a very important piece to our birthing process. Lauren was extremely valuable in helping us through the laboring process. Her calm, steady, and grounded presence provided us the opportunity to stay present with ourselves. She gently reminded us of the tools we could use to make the process easier and encouraged us to work together as a couple. We felt whole and supported throughout the process. Her empathy was felt yet she helped us both by modeling strength and confidence when we needed to push through. I hope Lauren continues to bless others with her amazing gifts and will be there again when our family expands!
Lauren's down-to earth, warm, and thoughtful support made the birth of our baby daughter a far better experience for my wife, myself, and our baby, and also for our families. We give her the highest possible recommendation, and hope that she is available when our family gets larger in the future.
We chose Lauren because we felt comfortable with her right away upon meeting her. It was clear that her only agenda was for us to have a healthy, happy baby and to make the birth experience as easy as possible for us. She never tried to force her own agenda or ideas onto our experience, and never took center stage, bur rather was a constant, cheerful, and reassuring source of knowledge and experience available when and where we needed it.
Lauren came to the house a few times prior to the birth, to help us prepare for the baby's arrival, and to get to know how our household functioned.
Lauren was with my wife during her entire labor, and knew just when to head to the birth center. During the birth she provided my wife with encouragement and support, and (at our request) took some beautiful photographs and videos.
After the birth, Lauren was helpful to us in so many ways, primarily with sharing her knowledge regarding infant care, breastfeeding, ect. But Lauren also helped us with meals and keeping the house in order during the first few weeks when we were adjusting to our new life as a family and my wife was recovering from the delivery.
You will be very happy if you choose Lauren as your doula. It's like having a good friend along with you through this important life experience; a friend who has experience and knowledge, and who adds a cheerful confidence to the entire journey.
We were fortunate to have our friends recommend Lauren to us a month before our delivery. We hadn't thought we'd need a doula as we had been preparing for a hypno-birth where my husband would be my birthing companion. I'm so glad we took their advice. Upon meeting Lauren we immediately felt comfortable with her. She is a devoted mom and a warm and sunny person who genuinely cares for mothers and the sacredness of birth. During my labor, Lauren gently coached me into comfortable positions, always reassuring me and keeping my spirits up. She knew just where and when to massage my lower back minimizing the intensity of my contractions. Her presence and support allowed my husband and I the closeness and intimacy we had hoped to experience during our delivery. We were so touched when Lauren presented us with a letter to our daughter describing her birth story and a beautiful book. We will always cherish our birth memories. Thank you Lauren!!
My husband and I are so very grateful for Lauren’s guidance through our first childbirth. We opted to have a hospital birth, but wanted to labor at home in order to feel more comfortable and avoid the unnecessary interventions that can sometimes occur in a hospital setting. Lauren met with us a few times before the birth and was available by phone or email to answer my numerous questions. I was nervous, to say the least! My labor began late in the evening and progressed rapidly through the night. When Lauren arrived at our house I was deep in active labor and already losing self-confidence. I breathed a sigh of relief when I heard her walking up the stairs – and I know my husband did too. Lauren immediately applied expert pressure on my lower back, suggested new positions to relieve my pain, and directed my husband with gentle wisdom. As my contractions lengthened and intensified through the early morning hours, Lauren gave us courage and comfort. When we transferred to the hospital we were especially impressed with her ability to communicate my birth plan respectfully to the hospital staff and remain a voice of guidance and encouragement through my pushing and delivery, while simultaneously handing authority over to the nurses. I am so deeply moved by Lauren’s passion and commitment for her profession. We admire her and consider her a friend for life. Thank you Lauren!

“I met Lauren after being admitted into the hospital to deliver our daughter. We had been scheduled to deliver at the birthing center here in town, and due to last minute complications had to transfer to hospital. Needless to say it was a bit frantic for my husband and I, and meeting our labor support person under these circumstances could have been tense or strained. Not a chance with Lauren! She arrived on a last minute call from the midwives and cheerfully spent a rough night with us in the hospital. She remained present and centered and immediately became a real member of our team! She quickly and thoroughly familiarized herself with our family and our birth plan and helped us follow it as closely as possible without judgment. She was a wonderful advocate for any of our needs with the hospital staff! When my labor progressed to the final stages, Lauren’s grounded presence and reassuring touch was invaluable! She was constant and full of valuable knowledge, all while making my husband feel empowered and competent. I can’t imagine my labor without her beautiful presence there! Having had doulas with my previous births, I can honestly recommend Lauren with my whole heart!”
It was truly meant to be that we found Lauren through our friends, Tim and Jaima. Lauren took us on the day before our due date and supported us from that moment on. Her energy was so calming to me throughout that miraculous day. All of her words renewed my spirit and kept me going. And her hands worked wonders for my body to relieve tension and pressure. She really helped me stay present and take everything one step at a time. We cannot even imagine the day without her. She is a part of our story, our lives and a part of our beautiful daughter, Mila.
My partner and I were initially on the fence about having a doula present for our natural child birth. After meeting Lauren, we felt a good connection and played it safe by choosing to provide ourselves with more support. We both agree chosing Lauren as our doula was the best decision we made to help us prepare for labor. She was the rock in our all night battle bringing our little boy into this world. As first time parents, we could not have done it without her. She has a gentle touch and passion for babies. Her support both before and after has been most helpful. She feels like part of our family. I highly recommend hiring Lauren as your doula. I have lots of love her! Jaima
Lauren was one of two attending doulas during the birth of my first baby in December of 2012. I knew when I first met her that her sweet spirit and calm demeanor were exactly what would keep me peaceful and relaxed for my home birth. She did a great job at not only keeping me hydrated and firm pressure on my back during contractions, but she also photographed during my labor and right after my baby was born. I’ve looked at those photographs so many times and cannot imagine if she hadn’t taken them for us. She was not only my doula, but became a friend I cherish. She brought a ton of groceriesto help with my milk the day after the baby was born and checked in on us several times in the following weeks. I felt very supported and cared for and would recommend her to my best friends!
