I found Erin \while she was still getting certified. She came to our home a few months before the birth and spoke to us about her birthing philosophies, what to expect, etc. which we found helpful. 1 week post-due, at about 1pm I called Erin from the hospital telling her I was being induced due to concern of low amniotic fluid levels, and she arrived before I was even admitted. The Drs wanted to start me with Cervidil; having wanted to go as natural as possible, I was concerned, but Erin to the rescue! She suggested trying a folley-bulb first, and midwife agreed. I was able to dilate to 4 (after many hours) and though I still didn't progress after that, it at least got me far enough to later have an epideral. Erin stayed with us all night, walking the halls with me to make the folley bulb more effective, and she was very encouraging and calming. When morning came and I still hadn't been contracting or dilating much, we had to go to Pitocin. We asked Erin to go home for a few hours as we knew it would be a while and she had been with us all night, so she went home to care for her own little one and grab a bite and a nap. When she came back she helped me to squat and use my birthing ball, massaging my back and just laying her hands on me to comfort me. Almost 24 hours and an epideral later, Erin stayed the whole time (over 40 hours total she stayed with us!). She helped hold up my legs while I pushed when I was tired and even took photos as my husband, a PA, delivered our baby girl. All in all, Erin stayed with us from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning, with only a small break in between! Just having her there when my husband was sleeping or had to go home to change/shower was so comforting. She was an extra set of eyes and ears to make sure my wishes were followed and to explain things to me if I lost my focus. I would most definitely recommend her to other expectant moms, and we will hopefully be able to have her there for our future births!

Erin was amazing from the first day I met with her, through the birth, and with follow up care as well.  She is personable, kind, gracious, and makes the entire process of pregnancy, labor, and birth a celebration experience.  She helped me to feel confident about my body and it's ability to birth a child vaginally.  Though the doctors were jumping at the chance to do a Csection, she reminded me that it was my choice, my experience, and I can do this.  Everything went beautifully through the labor and delivery aside from taking over 24 hours.  She is amazing.  If you want to have a successful birth experience, hire Erin Carter.
