I am passionate about helping people have a positive birth experience. I believe birth is a transformative time and therefore it is important for families to feel supported confident and excited about the birth process! My fees include two prenatal meeting where we can build a relationship. I will provide advice for comfort measures during pregnancy and the birth process. I have training in Spinning Babies techniques as well as acupressure. Once you have begun your birth process I arrive at your house or meet you at the hospital and I provide continuous emotional, and physical support. I also provide access to a TENS machine which can be used throughout your labour. Once your baby is born I will stay until you are settled in with your new family. I can help as you begin to breastfeed. Within the first week or two, once you’re comfortabley setteled at home, I come for a postpartum visit to go over your birth experience. I wish you all the best on your birth journey.

Kasia was my doula for the arrival of our son. Given this was my first child, I had no idea what to expect from the labour and delivery. I reached out to Kasia and Katrina and received a quick response. The initial meetings were so helpful to not only meet Kasia and Katrina, but to receive positive support and encouragement. Kasia was a calm presence throughout my entire labour. She helped to keep me focused and supported my husband in supporting me throughout my labour. It felt so reassuring to have someone with experience present throughout my labour. The postpartum visits were just as meaningful. It was so nice to have someone to check in with, particularly someone who shared in my birth story.
I recommend Cedar Sisters with no hesitation! They were a big part of creating a positive birth story for our family. Thank you!!
Words cannot describe what it meant to have Kasia in my labour room with me. The moment I saw Kasia during labour my body relaxed, my mind relaxed and I knew I was in good hands. The words of encouragement and the gentle presence of having her around is something I will remember forever. I am so lucky to have found her and will definitely be recommending her and Katrina to everyone I know. The feeling of having someone in the labour room who was only taking care of me gave me a sense of relief. Kasia was a silent energy in the room that was taking care of me without me having to say anything. I was able to fully focus on my labour, on my breathing and on staying relaxed. That feeling alone, was priceless.
As first time parents, my husband and I quickly learned that pregnancy is unpredictable and birth plans can change quickly and unexpectedly. Kasia and Katrina supported us through the uncertainties of a last minute c-section and made us feel confident in our decisions. With reassuring advice and warm tea, they helped us calmly navigate an overwhelming situation. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to guarantee a positive birth experience.
My husband and I were so lucky to have Kasia as our doula for the birth of our first daughter. The advice and support Kasia provided, in both preparation for and during the birth, were invaluable and unforgettable. Her support helped us keep on track with our birth plan. From the beginning she went over our preferences in the birth plan and provided recommendations and resources. She would reply promptly to my urgent questions about whatever I was experiencing. On labour day, Kasia came over when I called (in the middle of the night) and did not leave my side until we insisted, hours after the birth. Once contractions started, Kasia was with me and my husband at home and the hospital, helping me stay focused through every contraction and pus, without pain medication. When it seemed things were going contrary to our ideal (my baby's heart rate was not recovering fast enough after a contraction during the pushing phase), Kasia was positive and continued to focus on me while everyone else was busy preparing for a possible forcep/c-section intervention. Along with my husband, she helped me carry on pushing, stronger and more effectively than I had before. I was able to deliver my baby naturally, as I had hoped, without the use of forceps, and I attribute it to my husband and Kasia's unwavering support. I will never forget how she helped me through what was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. Post-partum, Kasia came to visit me at home and was available whenever I had a question. Plus, she made some wonderful cookies!
I am so grateful for the delivery experience I had with my doula, Kasia Machelak. My husband and I found it invaluable to have the support of a doula to guide us during the labour process. We had a unique experience, our son made an early arrival at just 36 weeks. This was days before our first meeting scheduled with Kasia to discuss her role and our goals for delivery. We were extremely grateful when she dropped everything to tend to us in the hospital without ever having our consultation.
From the minute she arrived, we were confident we were in safe hands. I had back contractions which kept me on my feet most of my labour. Kasia was skilled at easing my back pain with her handy tens machine, back massages, movements and stretches. Her supportive, warm and kind words of encouragement were exactly what I needed that day.
Having the support of a doula to guide first time parents was the best investment we made. She helped my husband to be an integral part in my comfort during labour, along with both of them being my emotional and physical support. We can't thank Kasia enough for all she did to help us bring baby Tyson into the world.
We are so grateful to have be a part of our health team that day.
Thank you Kasia!

Kasia was an amazing doula, and gave me the support I needed in dealing with my labor. She came into an unexpected situation - I had gone into labour four weeks early, and was meant to have a different doula. My original doula was unavailable, and Kasia stepped in to take her place. While we had never met before, or even discussed what help I was looking for, she took over easily and immediately offered me the support I needed.
My labor was intense - my water had broken early but because I had no contractions, the midwife and doctor elected to induce with Oxytocin. The next 15 hours involved a lot of pain and anxiety for me. My only birth plan had been to work with a doula early on, and my hope had been (in a normal situation) that I would have had the time to learn from my doula the strategies in the beginning that would serve me in the more intense stages of labor. This of course did not happen as the Oxytocin worked quickly and I started having intense contractions almost immediately.
For me, I needed a lot of help dealing with these physical symptoms - I did not want a lot of "cheerleading" or emotional support, but rather hands on methods to deal with my labor pains. Kasia was able to offer this and more during my labor. She had a quiet demeanor that worked perfectly with what I needed, and she definitely helped make everything seem somewhat more bearable. She never questioned what I needed, and stepped in whenever I asked (and often times she would offer to help before I even knew that's what I wanted!).
I would recommend her to anyone looking for an amazing and supportive doula.
Kasia was my doula for my 1st son in 2012.
I had a 16.5 hour labor with 8 hours being in the hospital.
She was amazing and knew what I needed before I asked. She stayed up at my head giving me water, a cool cloth on my head and tons of encouragement so my husband was able to be in the moment and watch the birth of our son. She knew my birth plan and made sure the doctors followed it. After she stayed for a while and made sure we were all good and had a well deserved baby cuddle.
We HIGHLY recommend Kasia as a doula. She's so knowledgeable, loving, encouraging and everything you want when you are going through the most painful but most memorable moment of your life. I couldn't imagine doing it without her.
I have used Kasia for the briths of both of my children and she was absolutely wonderful. Both my husband and I were very glad that she was there to assist us. My first delivery was a little more complicated and having her there to explain to us what was going on and to make sure we were comfortable with the decisions that were being made was perfect. She was also able to stay with me while my husband was able to be with our daughter as she had to be checked out by the pediatrition. Kasia is very understanding of what a woman goes through during a delivery and knows amazing techniques to help alliviate any discomforts. I would recommend her to any one looking for a doula and would use her again in a heart beat if i decide to have any more children.
