We moved to the Okanagan in the final weeks of pregnancy so we were certain that there would be no Doulas available on such short notice. Despite the tight timeline for establishing a working relationship and the fact that we were staying in interim accomodations until we could get into our new home, Kathleen was willing to work around the unusual circumstances.

Kathleen was very personable, approachable, and knowledgeable.  On the rare occasion that she happened to not know the answer to a question, she followed up immediately with resources, additional research and lending materials.  She was great about providing guidance without judgement and ensuring that we had all the information we needed going forward in the final few weeks towards labour and the birthing room. She ensured that we knew the types of issues we might encounter, and the types of questions that might arise in the birthing process that we would want to be prepared for in advance.

It turned out that we were induced early and weren't able to stick with our original schedule, but Kathleen happened to be in the hospital with another client.  With the other cient's blessing, she was able to attend and support us through the final minutes of our birth.  Kathleen checked in with us in the hospital after the birth, as well as with a home visit in the first weeks.  We've already recommended the Doula experience to co-workers, and did not hesitate to pass Kathleen's name along.  She made a huge difference in the final weeks and moments of our pregnancy.

I met Kathleen Baker very early in my first trimester, pregnant with my fourth child. We connected right away. In the beginning she helped me work though a lot of emotional issues I had lingering from my previous births. She lent me books in order to help me educate myself. I can honestly say that I learned more about pregnancy and childbirth from Kathleen than I ever knew before.

Kathleen is extremely knowledgeable and insightful, which helped me to prepare myself for labour. She was so good at tailoring her care to meet a my individual needs.

Kathleen’s' visits, check-ups, and timely suggestion, (prune juice, raspberry tea, etc), made my labour and delivery the best out of four! During my labour, Kathleen didn’t let me retreat inside myself and become overwhelmed by the pain but she was the one who helped me to “stay connected” to her, my husband and the world!

She was always professional and loving! Money cannot put a price on what Kathleen is worth! I would highly recommend a doula to any mom-to-be and would even more so recommend Kathleen.

Words cannot express how truly blessed we were to have Kathleen supporting my husband and I during the birth of our daughter. She was not only supportive and encouraging during labour but also a grounding force and an amazing source of strength for both my husband and myself. Through every breath and contraction I knew she was there with me to ride them out.
We met Kathleen for the first time when I was already 5 days overdue (my original doula was unable to attend our birth) and just 3 days before the birth of our daughter. Not once did Kathleen sound frustrated or inconvenienced at joining our team last minute. In her true caring and professional way she made sure to get to know us and our wishes for our birth as quickly as possible but without it feeling rushed. After our first meeting she already felt like an old friend!
Kathleen intuitively knows what you need when you are unable to vocalize what you want. She brings a vast array of tools and skills packed in her doula bag ensuring you will be made as comfortable as possible.

Kathleen you are amazing, a true warrior of women. I am so grateful you were our gladiator and am reminded of your strength, our strength, every time I look at my daughter. You are in our hearts forever!

Kathleen is an amazing human being and a fantastic doula.

She brings a wealth of information when you talk to her about pregnancy and birth. She will share a mini library with you if you want that and she will also research and filter the information about your pregnancy that you may come across.

During labor, she is the best support one could ever hope for. She is kind, patient, funny, a great listener and she is smart. Kathleen is committed to making a pregnant woman, a new mother and a new family feel safe, confident and cared for.

My husband and I could not imagine having gone through pregnancy and birth without her guidance and help. Kathleen, Nick and I cannot thank you enough.

Kathleen was amazing.  She was there when we had questions provided books to help answer those questions and information for everything else.  She never tried to pruswade us in any direction just gave us the answers we were looking for.  We had several visits with her from the meet and great to preparing a birth plan.  She in turn prepared us to have that plan go right out the window, and because of her preporation when the emergency c-section came into play we were more prepaired for it.

Kathleen was warm and caring and we always new she had our best intrests at hart.  She was with us all the way through the day and right to the time of the emergency c-section.  That is the point where we sent her home to bed.  Kathleen came back a day later to check up on my son and i and make sure all was going well and to answer any breast feeding questions we may have had.

A better doula we could not have asked for!!

My husband Thomas and I interviewed around 5 doulas in December of last year, and although we like them all, unfortunately we couldn't hire all of them. In the end, we decided to hire Kathleen. We absolutely loved her the first time we met. She is an amazing person, full of passion for what she does and very loving and extremely generous. We met few times (Kathleen my husband and I), she was always very helpful with plenty of good advises, support and tons of knowledge and resources. She lent us many books and a dvd regarding labour, delivery and parenting. Kathleen also gave us many tips, what to expect on the day of the delivery. She visited us few times before the due date, came to the hospital (I had forceps and episiotomy) and after when we came home from the hospital. It was a difficult time for my husband and I, since this was our first baby, yet she managed to calm us down and give us love and SUPPORT with her beautiful spirit and smile. This was the best investment that we made for our family. Will continue to use doula and of course Kathleen for our next child.

My experience with Kathleen as my doula started right at the beginning of my pregnancy.  She was WONDERFUL! She, not only was my 'library source' to get all the appropriate literature from breastfeeding to birth planning to post birth, but she was in touch with me very frequently throughout my pregnancy with encouragement, love, information; everthing I needed from a birth partner.  She really was my rock throughout the entire pregnancy, birth and after birth.  With her knowledge AND compassion, Kathleen helped me embrace pregnancy and motherhood with confidence and ease.  I can't imagine having going through experience without her presence.  I had a few (to say the least) alarming situations around my labour and Kathleen was able to keep me positive, calm and focused.  She was my voice when I didn't have one and made sure that MY NEEDS were priority above everything else that was going on around me. Kathleen was a godsend!
