Attends hospital births? All Hospitals
I am experienced and familiar with most of the north, west, and central valley hospitals and comfortable working with both OBs and CNMs. I will come to your house before you are ready to go to the hospital, transfer with you, and stay until the birth of your baby. Whether you are planning an unmedicated birth or not, I am delighted to help make your hospital experience a good one.
Attends birth center births? All Birth Centers
I am experienced and familiar with the many freestanding birth centers in Phoenix and Glendale. Birth centers can be a perfect option for those with low risk pregnancies that want the "comforts" of home but still close to a hospital. In the event of a transfer, I will go with you to the hospital, and stay until your baby's birth and 2 hours postpartum.
Attends home births? Some Home Births
I am happy to support your homebirth with a licensed midwife. I come to the house when you need me, and will provide assistance to the mother, partner, and/or family members as desired. In the event of a transfer, I will accompany you to help you navigate the hospital setting and still have a good birthing experience. Please note that although I am a licensed midwife, I am NOT able to provide midwifery services to doula clients. If you birth accidentally at home, I will need to contact emergency services on your behalf. I do not carry medical equipment to doula client births, and will not catch/delivery a baby while working as a doula.I attend births that have a midwife overseeing care. Sorry, but I am not available for unassisted homebirths.

Laura helped with the birth of my fifth child.  I had two previous births with a doula (in another state) and was excited to have a doula help with this birth.  Laura was awesome!  My birth did not go as expected and Laura helped me in each labor decision as it was presented.  In the end I got what I wanted a VBA2C...a vaginall birth after two c-sections.  Laura was an crucial part of the team that made that happen.  Her knowledge and skill set (particularly Spinning Babies and Acupressure) was very helpful.  I particularly noticed how she worked with my other care providers to get the results i wanted, and for my high risk preganancy i had a LOT of other care providers.  I would recommend Laura to anyone who asks.

I cannot sing Laura Correia's praises enough!  If you are looking for a highly competent, experienced, kind, warm-hearted, committed doula, Laura is it!

Prenatal visits with Laura were great. Her personality and manner sets you at ease, and she truly cares about your journey - all your hopes, fears, uncertainties and all. She has years of experience and so many resources to help guide you and educate you. I believe at the time we hired her, she only had like 1-2 other mamas she was working with and she usually limits the clients she takes on at any given time, so you are truly cared for and have her undivided attention. She'll meet you at your home or coffee shop or wherever is convenient for you. She is so flexible.

Then when the big day came for us, she was immediately available by phone, coaching me and my husband and easing our anxiousness. She met us at the birth center hours later when it became necessary for her to be with us. She NEVER left our side in the 36+ hours that preceded until the birth of our son. During that long time, she coached me through contractions at the birth center, was right behind us when we had to transfer to St. Joes and then coached me and my husband through positions and breathing and exercises until our son was finally born vaginally, no complications. Then she even stayed after the birth to make sure we were taken care of and our questions were answered. The six-week postpartum visit at our home was so helpful. During it, Laura shared a ton of photos and video she took during the labor (I had no idea!) and a beautiful birth story.

I cannot describe enough how caring and helpful Laura was to both me and my husband. Honestly, we could not have gone through it all and had such a positive experience without her. She is invaulable and priceless! Hire her!!!!!

From the first appointment we had with Laura, I could tell she would be a wonderful support for me during my pregnancy, labor and delivery process. After that first appointment, our two prenatal visits (included in her package) were so helpful and informative, especially with this being my first pregnancy and birth. I can imagine how much differently my labor and delivery would have gone if I didn't have her there to guide me through it, so it was definitely worth hiring her services! I highly recommend her.

If you don't believe in people having a true calling, you will once you meet Laura. She is a master at what she does and we are so grateful for all she did for us. When I got pregnant, I knew I wanted to have an unmedicated bith but had a lot of anxiety and fear about my ability to do so. My husband and I decided to hire a doula to help support us to accomplish this goal. From our first consultation with Laura, we were immediately impressed. She was kind, knowledgable, thoughtful, and supportive. Throughout all our prenatal appointments, she shared information, got information to know us better, connected us with resources, helped us become knowledgeable about our options, and assisted us in developing a birth plan and strategies for accomplishing it. When I went into labor, she arrived just when we needed her and immediately brought a sense of peace and renewed strength. The techniques that she used and encouraged were exactly what I needed (even when I didn't know I needed it). She was incredibly tuned in to what would and wouldn't work for me, ultimately resulting in a beautiful, unmedicated birth. My husband and I both feel that we would not have been able to accomplish our birth plan without her support. When the baby blues unexpectedly hit me a few days later, she continued to offer support and suggestions which helped validate my feelings and got me moving in the right direction.

Laura exceeded our expectations every step of the way. She is not just a great doula, she is a wonderful person who became an important part of one of the most life changing moments in our lives. We are forever grateful to her and count ourselves very lucky to know her.

Having Laura by our side was the best decision ever!  She was very knowledgable and able to bring so much to the table.  She was a great asset to have pre-during-and post labor!  I don't know if I could have done a natural birth without her help and support.  Both my husband and I appreciate everything Laura did for us.  Thank you so much.  You are a great doula!!

My husband and I took Laura's birthing class and found it extremely helpful.  We opted to sign up for the private class because of our busy schd. and it couldn't have worked out better.  The curriculum was lengthy, but super informative and worth the investment of time.  Laura was so kind and we learned so much from her.  Thank you, Laura!

Laura attended our son's unmedicated, precipitous hospital birth in October 2013. She was invaluable! She parked the car for us when we arived at the hospital, and that one action was worth her entire fee alone as I was already 10cm and pushing when we got there. She facilitated a speedy admittance to the hospital (hanging behind at the registration desk to answer questions so we could go right up to L&D), and then did a dozen little things (gave me drinks, words of encouragement, etc) while I was pushing. She was immensley helpful after the baby's birth as well with breastfeeding support, taking pictures, and just keeping us company. (If desired, you can read my birth story here: a-star-of-hope.blogspot.com/2013/10/peter-birth-story-october-2013.html)

I can't praise her enough, and I know she would be a fantastic doula for any birthing mom.

We were so thankful to find Laura! She worked with us to achieve all our birth preferences and was very knowledgeable. She also gave us information and let us look at all the labor options, wanting to make sure we made decisions for ourselves about what we were comfortable with. She also had books to lend out to help us with our decision making. I wanted to have a doula to give us the confidence to labor at home as long as possible before going to the hospital, and Laura gave us that confidence...I checked in at 8 cm! She gave my husband gentle suggestions throughout the labor that helped him support me in ways he would not have thought of, and in a way that he did not feel that she was in the way or trying to replace him. I truly appreciated this and thought it was wonderful of her to make sure my husband was not left out of the experience...in fact, even having a doula, he was a huge part of it and this made it such a special day for us!

Laura was amazing.  I feel like I had the perfect labor and birth... I honestly could not have asked for a better experience for myself, my husband and our new baby girl.  Laura was able to provide us with a lot of useful information prior to the labor, was available to us to call at the beginning stages of labor, and was there with so much knowledge and support for us both in our home and at the hospital.  She really showed that she cared and supported our birth plan.  She has a very calm aura about her, which is exactly what you need when in labor.  We also found that she is very unbiased in the information that she shares and would be supportive no matter what your ideal labor might be.  She worked very well with our doctor and the nurses in the hospital.  She also provided a lot of support to my husband to help him be an amazing birth coach. I will definitely seek her services in the future.

We met with several other Doulas before finding Laura & as soon as we did, we knew it was a match. She is so attentive; she really listened to what both my husband and I wanted out of our first childbirth experience. Laura is a great source of information; she helped us during our pregnancy to make informed decisions about our birth plan. I didn't even know I wanted one until I met her! She brought up things for us to think about, answered questions, provided resources and even helped play devil's advocate for us on a few topics just to get us thinking.

Laura was a life-saver during my delivery; she remained so calm and focused for me. She helped me change positions, helped me with my breathing, and never made me feel inadequate when I started to panic about the pain of labor. She was my rock. My husband said we will never have another child unless Laura is with us; she took great care of him too! She reminded him when to sleep when I had a break in my contractions and helped keep him calm too since neither of us knew what was 'normal'

Laura made quick friends with the delivery nurses who actually thanked her for her help & told her she was welcome back anytime. Laura documented my labor experience and gave us a copy at our post-partum visit with her. Having her write down all the small details that you just wouldn’t be able to remember is a precious gift that we treasure.

I would recommend Laura to anyone who wants their birth experience to not only be a special one but one where you feel like you have someone that’s truly in your corner, someone who doesn’t judge and helps guide your through your birth the way you want it to be.

My husband and I had a wonderful birth experience and we can't thank Laura enough for helping us have the birth we planned for. As we prepared for our first baby, we decided late in the third trimester that hiring a Doula was the best plan for us after careful consideration of other options. We interviewed various Doulas and when we met Laura we connected and knew that she was the one. We knew we wanted a natural birth and we could not have achieved our birth plan goals without Laura. She is very knowledgeable, supportive, and compassionate, just to list a few of her outstanding qualities. It was very valuable to have Laura assist me while laboring at home, to offer positions to try, help time contractions, know when to go to the hospital, etc. We cannot say enough good things about hiring a Doula, more specifically hiring Laura. We will hire her again for our next child/children, hopefully she is available when the time comes. It was truly an amazing experience. Thanks again Laura for everything!

Laura is amazing!! She played a huge instrumental part in both of our birthing experiences with our boys. She is patient, trusting, comforting , and my list of words to describe her can go on and on. She gives the ultimate credit to God ; just love her faith in the Lord. She is so passionate about what she does and it shows! I always feel peace by her comforting words. She references to scripture in the Bible and reminds me about God giving me the strength to pull through. She comforts me with her amazing massage techniques and she is an awesome team player with my birthing team. She is well worth the money! The way that I see it is if you plan on putting your money towards a birthing class, such as a Bradley class, why not just invest your money in an amazing doula like Laura to be by your side helping you get through your labor and birth . At least that is what my husband and I felt was a better investment. We love u Laura!

Laura went above and beyond our expectations.  She is truly worth her weight in gold and then some!  She taught us about the birthing process, trained us with pain management techniques, and even came to be with me during my emergency surgery a few days after my sons birth.  She was great at standing by my birth plan.  Laura did everything in her power to make me as comfortable as possible during labor.  She was always available over the phone and if she didn't have an answer for my question she would either give me other resourceful contacts or she would research it herself and call me back.  Laura is very attentive, loving, and tender.  I'm so glad God put her in my life.

Laura is fabulous!  My husband wasn't sure about hiring a doula, but now that our baby is born, he said he would definitely hire her again! She is knowledgeable, professional, and kind.  She was respectful and incredibly helpful from beginning to end.   Her faith based perspective was very appealing to us as well.

Laura has a great touch and knows right where to apply the pressure or the caress and the words to be supportive. I had a successful VBAC due in part not only to my mid wife and husband but her as well. I was even able to deliver all natural no drugs with her by my side. This was my first labor since my previous was a early c-section, so the fact that she had the knowledge of the ways a body needs to move, where to touch and how, just the experience of going through labor makes Laura a great doula. She also helped to make sure my questions were answered, asked the questions for me and looked out for my husband and my well being to make it a memorable experience.

I was fortunate enough that Laura served as the Doula for my first born baby girl. My husband and I were across the country from one another and needed someone who could support and coach us as we worked to prepare for a natural childbirth. Laura was available to answer our questions and we immediately felt comfortable with her. In fact, we cancelled our remaining Doula interviews after we met her- we felt positive she was a great match for us. I appreciated her calm demeanor and her depth of experience as a Doula, a mother, and personally in her hobbies and extracurricular activities (we were both endurance athletes so I was sold!). Leading up to the birth I felt confident we had a strong plan in place and Laura worked with me to help me understand exactly what to expect. Her recommendations for reading, CD listening and generally mentally preparing proved to be perfect for me. When I called Laura on the day my water broke she calmly responded and met me at the hospital just as my spouse arrived. Throughout labor, she reassured me and provided guidance to me, to my spouse and to my mother who was also available. She helped us to feel empowered to ask questions, take a minute to consider medical recommendations, and most importantly, to continue to work towards the kind of birth we wished for. She provided the voice I needed to help me through a natural labor. Laura provided us with an amazingly detailed birth story- it was so meaningful to be able to read about the process of birthing my baby girl- I had not noticed so many details and to have it written for me was a special gift. Also, Laura came to my home to check on me and the baby and to provide breastfeeding support. She also has an extensive network of other professionals to share when her own expertise did not fit the situation.

I was well into my second trimester when my husband and I decided to “get serious” about having a natural birth. We knew that a large part of success depends on a great labor coach, or “doula.” We searched for a doula who was Christ-centered, compassionate, competent, and affordable. I’m extremely happy to say we found that great labor coach in Laura Correia. Laura successfully guided me through each contraction and push—she gave me the confidence to know God had designed my body to bear a child naturally. I know I would not have had a beautiful natural birth without her. When we are ready to have a second child we will choose Laura again!

From Mike: Mike Langdon here, new Dad. From a man’s/dad’s perspective, having a doula was priceless. This is what she does for a living. They know the process, the hospital layout, the staff. They have done this hundreds of times. I would highly encourage any and all expectant moms and dads to go this route.” Just an important clarification… I haven’t quite gotten to “hundreds” yet. More accurate would be “dozens.” From Katrina: Laura Correia, CD, went above and beyond the call of duty: not only was she there for emotional support and comfort every moment, she created a “birth story” of our newborn son with pictures and documented events of the entire labor process with him. I HIGHLY recommend Laura!
