I am passionate about informed birth choices and I believe that birth is a miraculous journey that we actively participate in, not something that simply happens to us. It is my belief that if a woman is properly nurtured, supported, respected and educated on the process of childbirth, labor and delivery will change her in profound ways; she will carry a sense of accomplishment, empowerment and confidence with her the rest of her life. I have witnessed birth unfold in many ways and completely respect the uniqueness of each birth experience! I believe that every woman should experience birth in the way that is most satisfying for her based on her individual beliefs about childbirth. As your Doula, my goal is for you to have an informed, confident and well supported birth experience that you will remember as a joyous and empowering event. I help you achieve a healthy and positive pregnancy, birth and postpartum in which you feel respected, nurtured, empowered and secure. I have experience with home birth, hospital birth, cesarean sections, water birth, VBACs (vaginal birth after cesarean), HBACs (home birth after cesarean), natural birth, medicated birth, Hypnobabies-births, multiples birth, high risk birth, inductions and births with all different types of care providers (Midwives, Physicians & Obstetricians).

We loved working with Jen. She is kind, patient, and peaceful. Her knowledge about pregnancy, birth and post partum was wonderful. She was able to give advice and suggestions on everything from pre labor pain managment to breastfeeding to diaper rashes. Not only is she a great doula but also a great photographer. We are so happy with the photos from the birth of our daughter. She perfectly documented her coming into the world and her first few hours with us. We look forward to working with Jen again.

When I think about our birth story, besides getting to meet our son for the first time -  Jennifer was a huge highlight and wonderful part of our day. Choosing to have a hospital birth for our first baby I knew I wanted to have the support of a familiar face and someone who I could trust during the most vulnerable day of my life. Jennifer not only spent countless hours by our side, but kept the room calm, happy and a safe place for me. As someone who was terrified of the unknown and birth in general, I felt completely at ease with Jennifer next to me. She literally did not leave my side. My husband who is typically a very shy person was also able to coach me with so much ease thanks to Jennifer giving him advice and encouragement on affirmations to use at each stage of labour. Her postpartum visits were lovely! She was easily available for any questions we had and was so reassuring which was exactly what I needed those first few weeks at home! My one and only regret is that I waited too long to reach out and get in touch with Jennifer. I didn't decide to have a doula until I was 34 weeks pregnant and I wish I would have called her the moment I found out I was expecting. We were so fortunate she had availability to take us on as clients. We 1000% recommend Jennifer to anyone! You would be in the best care possible for an amazing birth experience.

Despite preparing in every way we knew how, after a traumatizing first birth experience, we realized the need professional, experienced help to help us birth our second child. Jen was vital in helping us to have the empowered, intuitive, natural birth we were hoping for. She provided the perfect, tailored to my personality and goals resources, to help me prepare for labour in a new way. She provided alternate/additional counsel to help my partner and I make informed decisions in line with our values during pregnancy and labour, She prepared us each step of the way with what to expect from the traditional medical system, which allowed us to navigate the system to fit our values. She helped my husband be my main labour support person, showing him hands on techniques that were amazingly effective at reducing the pain of each contraction. She acknowledged each and every one of my contractions with a "good job" which is a small thing that goes a long way to keeping morale up during a long labour. Ultimately, she helped me remain in charge of my birth experience, and helped all the other members of my birth team (my husband, the midwives and the nurses) do their job better. I'm over the moon that our second son was born via the all natural, extremely empowered and healing VBAC that we knew was possible. We are so glad we hired Jen to be on our team. We couldn't have done it without her!

As a first time parent, having Jen as our doula was one of the best pregnancy/birth decisions that we could have made! Jen was there to answer any of my anxious pregnancy-related questions and always offered reassurance and knowledgeable information to ease my nerves.

During our birth, Jen provided such a calming presence and provided a ton of support for both myself and my fiance. I was prepared for the worst-case scenario with my birth and it honestly could not have gone any better; I truly believe that Jen played a huge role in our positive birth outcome. She also offered us lots of postpartum support and information which is super helpful when you're a first time parent.

We will definitely be using Jen for any future pregnancies and both me and my fiance rave about her to all of our pregnant friends!

Having Jen as our doula was such an incredible experience for our entire family. This was for the birth of our second child who came into this world by a beautiful home water-birth. She was such a huge support to us before hand, as we felt a little nervous about our home birth plans, but felt like we were in great hands with her on our birthing team because of her experience as a seasoned doula and a mother of many children herself.

She was fantastic with my husband, myself, our new baby and our 2 year old son, and I couldn’t imagine the experience without her. She helped to remind me to breathe, believe in myself, keep going and that I truly had what it takes to do this.

She also captured our son’s birth with her gorgeous birth photography and truly has an eye for the beauty and rawness of birth. Whenever I look at those photos, I am brought back to the miraculous moments before, during and after the birth of our son & will treasure the photos forever.

She also helped us with the birthing pool, supplies, set up & take down, she encapsulated my placenta for me (which I highly recommend) & also provided breastfeeding support in the early weeks. Her calm, confident presence as a doula/photographer/lactation consultant was exactly what I needed throughout this experience and feel that she was the perfect fit for our family.

Originally I met with Jen to discuss birth photography and when I realized her wealth of knowledge and experience with births and labour I knew I wanted her to help support me as a doula.

At the two prenatal meetings we discussed my birth plan and Jen made sure I knew all my options and understood each of them. I felt confident heading into my birth that Jen was going to assist me in attempting to manage a natural childbirth.

During my labour Jen arrived at my house and helped me with pain management techniques including breathing, and her tens machine. She was amazing and the sound of her voice helped me stay calm as my labour progressed. Jen recognized that my labour was moving quickly and advised that we should go to the hospital. Once there Jen continued to support me during delivery and afterwards. I would not have been able to manage my contractions and delivery medication free without Jen. My husband said that having Jen present to assist me made him feel less nervous and he was able to enjoy the birth experience as well.

In our postpartum visits Jen helped me with breastfeeding and recommended a great Dr to meet with for a tongue and lip tie.

My birth was an extremely positive experience and I credit much of that to Jen's support. I definitely would work with Jen again in the future and couldn't imagine my birth without her. To top off my wonderful experience Jen presented me with an amazing collection of birth photos  documenting my labour and delivery. The photos are exquisite and I looked at them with wonder to see my daughter in the first seconds of her life and the emotions on myself and my husbands face.

We highly recommend Jen as a doula and birth photographer. Jen was able to answer all our questions, give advice, help manage pain, always answered text and phone calls, and make community recommendations.

Hiring Jen was one of the best decisions we made throughout our pregnancy and birth journey. My goal was to have an unmedicated birth, and while I have a very supportive and loving husband, I knew a doula would be a huge factor in my success. I had a great team of midwives, but Jen was a constant source of knowledge, encouragement and comfort throughout my pregnancy. It was nice to be able to email, text or call with any questions along the way. I would keep her updated on my appointments and she provided great referrals to massage therapists/acupuncturists, and even surprised me with some books from her lending library during our visits that she knew I would enjoy based on our previous conversations. The prenatal classes were especially beneficial to my husband and I, and we felt as prepared as possible going into the birth. When the time eventually came and we felt like it might be the real deal, Jen was the first person we called. At the hospital, Jen was a major support whether it was grabbing a pre-warmed blanket to wrap up in (we would've never even known the hospital had these available!), encouraging sips of juice to maintain energy, applying her TENS unit to my back, providing words of encouragement through each contraction, etc. The list goes on and on. At the beginning of pregnancy my husband was initially nervous about what his role would be if we hired a doula, but after meeting Jen and having her support he couldn't picture it any other way. Attribute most of it to hormones, but I literally cried for several days after our daughter was born because I was so sad the experience was over. I felt completely educated and supported throughout the entire journey and it couldn't have gone any better. I can easily say that Jen is a huge reason I will continue to look back so fondly on the birth of our first child. Could not recommend her enough.

Jen was a wonderful doula. We were on the hunt for someone who would respect our values as a family but also someone who had a ton of experience and Jen fit the bill perfectly. We weren’t in a space where we could really afford a doula but we knew we wanted one so we saved and we found Jen to be within our price range but she was really infinitely priceless! I developed gestational diabetes over the course of my pregnancy and Jen was right there through the entire process. She has such a wealth of knowledge about birth that everytime we met I felt like I was opening an encyclopedia. With Jen, my husband and I felt safe and cared for. She listened to all my crazy questions and was very patient with me throughout the process. She was so patient with me as I was a bit anxious being a VBAC mom with GD. During my birth, she helped me to remain grounded so that I could focus on being baby earthside. What an amazing experience birth is and I am very grateful to have shared my journey with Jen and hope to be able have her again for my future birth journeys.

We are so thankful to have hired Jen to support us in the preparation and birth of our second daughter. After a very challenging first birth, Jen provided a reassuring, calming and knowledgable presence throughout the pre-natal, labour and delivery, and post-partum periods. Throughout our pre-natal meetings, and leading up to the birth, Jen instilled a confidence in me which (at the time), I didn't believe I had. With memories of my first birth still fairly fresh in my head, I was nervous and scared about how my second birth might go. However, the conversations and support I received from Jen truly paid off - my labour and delivery couldn't have gone any smoother and even at the peak when I was still holding on to some fear and uncertainty, I remember holding Jen's hand and looking to her for support, and the confidence and belief that she empowered me with was unbelievable. I will always look back fondly on that moment when I felt vulnerable and scared, and remember the support she provided to get me through and bring our baby into this world.

It doesn't stop there with Jen though! No sooner had she carried me beautifully through the labour and delivery journey to meet our daughter, but she quickly picked up her camera and captured the most stunning birth photos I have ever seen! Jen's photography skills are absolutely amazing and all of the euphoric emotions we had in those immediate moments after the birth are forever captured in a series of amazing photos.

Jen is incredibly experienced, and a true professional while maintaining a relatable, realistic and personable touch in all she does. Throughout our time together she also provided a reassuring presence for my husband (who is not the easiest man to win over!). We are both incredibly thankful for Jen's support, guidance and expertise throughout our journey.

Thank you Jen, we would highly recommend you to other families!

As a first-time mother who wanted to have an unmedicated birth, I am so grateful that we hired Jen. Her knowledge was essential to our experience as we would have probably headed to the hospital and been sent home multiple times without her! She was a calm, reassuring presence throughout my labour experience and she kept me on track with my birth plan once we were getting closer to delivery. She had several ideas and techniques on how to make labouring easier for me, and she worked with my partner so he could also fully engage in the process. Together, they were an amazing support system that helped me welcome our son into the world! Jen's prenatal and postpartum visits were well-timed and allowed us to air out our new-parent apprehensions and concerns in everything from birth to breastfeeding. I could not recommend Jen's services more; she was truly amazing to work with and her support has been invaluable to our experience. Thank you, Jen!

Having a doula is something we definitely recommend to any family having a baby and we would highly, highly recommend Jen! After we met Jen, with her passion, positivity and extensive knowledge we knew she was going to have to be part of our birth of our daughter. She listened to what was important to us and offered suggestions on how to plan and prepare and was there for every question we had. She went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable during all stages and assisted with breastfeeding.  We also had her do our prenatal session, which was amazing to do in our own home and we took so much out of it. Knowledge is power! Which helped us make informed decisions from everything Jen had taught us. We get excited when we get to share our birth story and a big part of that was Jen!

My husband and I are so glad we had Jen by our side throughout our pregnancy and the birth of our daughter. We took the 8 hour pre-natal course with Jen, which was so nice to be in the comfort of our own home and ask questions specific to our journey. Then during the birth, Jen coached my husband as well to be able to help me through Labour. Jen was calm, supportive and encouraging! Thanks for everything Jen ? Margot, Chris and Chloe

Having our first child with Jen as our doula was a great experience. I will let my wife speak to her experience, but as her partner Jen's calming influence and expertise allowed me to be fully present to support my wife. I didn't need to worry about remembering all the things I had read and learned about the birthing process - Jen knew everything. I was able to focus on keeping my wife as comfortable as possible through the birth experience. I honestly can't really imagine what the birthing experience would have been like without Jen's amazing knowledge and calming presence.

Working with Jen was great!

Jen is absolutely amazing! She is very passionate about what she does and committed to making you feel comfortable and supported. She helps to guide you to make decisions & always supports & respects you.

This was my first baby. I had no idea what giving birth was like. All I knew was that I wanted as natural of a birth as possible. I was deemed “High-risk” due to my BMI, was faced with descrimination from health care providers.  They said I’m going to need a c section, going to get high blood presdure, going to get diabetes, for sure induce me as early as 37 weeks...all of this was so discouraging!

Jen gave me the encouragement I needed. She gave me lots of information that helped me rise above the frustration and recommended a OBGYN who was also very supportive.

I ended up having a very healthy pregnancy, no high blood pressure, no diabetes, and my baby was born 7 lbs 5oz not 10 lbs like they told me he would be.

I refused induction with Jen‘s support and went into labour naturally at 39 weeks and 2 days. Because of what Jen taught me in her toolkit for labour class I was fully informed. I laboured at home for 5-6 hours and went to the hospital when my contractions where 3min apart. It all happened so fast for me. I was 6-7 cm dilated when I got to the hospital. Jen was a god send during the hard part of labour. She rubbed my back, applied cold compress to my face, and spoke so gently in my ear encouraging me through the contractions. i ended up not having any interventions or pain meds and Jen helped to ensure my birth plan was followed through with when I couldn’t remember or think straight by reminding me and guiding me.

Jen took beautiful photos for us And encapsulated my placenta. I would highly recommend that!

I will have Jen back for every baby I have! There is no way I could have achieved my goals without Jen!

I was recommended Jen and now I would highly recommend her! Everyone should have a doula, what an amazing experience. Jen supported both myself and my husband. Her main goal was to empower me and my choices. She did that and more' I would be honoured to have her by my side of my birth again!

I had the extreme pleasure of having Jen as my doula for my third birth. Right from the beginning, I knew she would help me achieve the birth that I wanted. She made me feel at ease and has a wealth of knowledge. My plan was to have a water birth at home with my midwives, Jen, my husband, and my sons in attendance. As soon as my contractions started Jen came out to support me (we figured number 3 might arrive quickly!). I had been pretty sick in the days leading up to labour and was not feeling too strong, but she kept me calm and focused — even when I was doubting myself. My daughter was safely born in water in the comfort of my bedroom; just as I had hoped for!

Jen was also my birth photographer and I cannot recommend that service enough! She beautifully captured so many moments that I will always cherish. I often find myself looking thru the photos and reliving the experience.

Jen played a huge role in the most empowering and beautiful experience of my life. Her before, during, and after care was so needed and so valued. The sound of her calm, warm voice guiding me through each contraction will forever be etched on my heart. Thank you, Jen!

Jen was the kind, knowledgeable, experienced and supportive woman that I needed by my side during labour and delivery. When I first met Jen, I knew that she was the perfect person to support me during labour. She was very intelligent, had experienced labour a few times herself, and had supported VBACs before.

For my first child, I laboured with my husband and mother by my side, thinking that they would be all that I would need. None of us really understanding why we should pay money for something we could do ourselves. After that experience I can tell you that no book can replace the years of experience a doula brings. For my second child I knew we would hire a doula to help me through the intensely beautiful experience of labour and delivery - and that's what Jen did.

The prenatal meetings were wonderful to get to know Jen better and to really understand how I would be supported. Leading up to labour, I would keep Jen updated about my midwife appointments and she would answer any questions I had. As I got closer to my due date and then past it (by two weeks!), she was there supporting me, which was so wonderful because it was a stressful time with a lot of pressure all weighing on my shoulders. I would have been a mess without her words of encouragement and tons of actual scientific data backing it up.

During labour itself I held onto Jen for dear life! She was there the whole time, my rock, full of smiles and encouraging words that I didn't even know I needed. She stuck by me the entire time, worked well with my midwives and husband. And then after the baby was born she was there taking the most beautiful photos and stopping to help whenever needed. Not to mention, cleaning up the birthing pool and the room, plus she stayed long after our midwives had gone making sure I had all I needed. And of course the postpartum care rocked.

Words alone cannot expres how amazing Jen is!

My first birth was mildly traumatic and stressful- my son was born 5 weeks early, and neither my husband nor I were prepared! It involved being sent to a hospital an hour away (since we needed one with NICU as a precaution), strange doctors instead of my own, and a cocktail of interventions. Luckily our first son was born healthy and happy, but I vowed to have a more peaceful, informed, and prepared birth the second time. I felt a connection with Jen as soon as we met and became at ease and excited with having a second chance at a "pleasant" birth experience. From the moment she officially became our Doula, Jen was right there for every question and concern. When I started going into labour, she came to our house quickly, and I felt immediate relief with her presence. My husband also found it very helpful to have her there, as he had to pack up our toddler and bring him to grandmas, but knew I was taken care of with Jen while he was gone. When we arrived at the hospital I was in active labour and in immense pain, and recall leaning into her as she hugged me through contractions. When my doctor decided he wanted to break my water, I looked at her with uncertainty, but she discussed it with me and gave me that reassurance – she is truly an advocate for mamas which was so important for me considering I felt like I had very little say or involvement with my first birth experience. Once my water was broken, things moved quickly, and at times when I wanted to give up, she was a true cheerleader, coach, and guiding light. She took the pressure off my husband too – she was there for both of us. When our baby arrived she was able to capture some precious moments with her camera, and gifted us with an album to cherish. She continued her support with home visits (and many texts/calls), and encapsulated my placenta which I wanted to try as a way to nurture my body (and mind!) postpartum. If ever I have another baby, I'll want to call Jen!

One of the best decisions we have ever made was hiring Jen to be our doula. It was our second pregnancy however this time we were hoping for a vbac so we knew having that extra support would be so helpful. From the moment I met Jen her calm reassuring demeanor out me st ease. We found the two prenatal visits to be extremely helpful. She made us feel like she had ample time to answer of our questions and was able to provided her insight and expertise without ever feeling as if we were being pushed. There were many times I found myself tearing Jen throughout the pregnancy with questions or updates from my physician appointments. She was extremely timely in responding and always had something positive and encouraging to say. No words can describe the auooort she provides during the labor and delivery. From the moment things started she was with us providing us direction in a calm, gentle and informative manner all the while making us feel like we were in control. I honestly believe I was able to have a successful VBAC because of Jen. Her interaction with the labor she delivery staff was incredible and you can tell how well respected and liked she is. She provided two wonderful postpartum visits as well. Just knowing you would have that support in those first few weeks was so reassuring. We cannot say enough positive things about Jen and our experience with her. For anyone wanting an educated and experienced voice throughout their pregnancy and delivery, Jen would be the perfect person to have on your team

Jen was our doula for the birth of our third child. Jen was a fantastic support to both me and my husband. She took so many things into consideration while we were prepping for delivery. Then when I was in labour she was a fantastic calming influence, even placing candles (battery operated ones) in the labour suite! She stayed with me for a while after delivery and visited twice in my home. The pictures she took were so beautiful and she presented them so well! I just know we will treasure them forever. She also made placenta caps for me and got them ready so quickly. They were so helpful to have so soon after delivery. If we end up having any more children, Jen will definitely be my first call!

My husband and I met with several Doula's before we met Jen. After the initial consultation, we knew we had found the person we wanted to have with us on this journey. Jen's calm and friendly nature made us feel comfortable and the conversation always flowed naturally. It was easy to book our our pre and post natal sessions as Jen was always accommodating with our schedule. It was a great piece of mind knowing I could text Jen whenever questions arose.

My labour progressed very quickly and by the time we called Jen it was time to head to the hospital. It was very helpful for my husband to discuss what was going on with Jen, guiding us to the decision it was time to go to the hospital. When Jen arrived at the hospital, she was the calming reassurance that we needed. Even reminding us to give our birth plan to the hospital staff. Labour progressed nicely and Jen was always right there with words of encouragement.

The photos that Jen took are amazing. They are filled with so much emotion and I love being able to go back to the moment our son was born.

We couldn't have been happier with our decision to have Jen as our doula.

I was so happy to have Jen a part of my first birth experience. She was a great support to myself and husband. Not having family or friends nearby, she helped us to feel prepared and informed, calmed my fears and reservations about childbirth and motherhood, and made me feel confident about my ability to carry out a natural childbirth. Labour went smoothly and she captured some beautiful memories by photograph that we cherish. In addition, I had Jen encapsulate Rowan's placenta. I firmly believe these pills aided my oostpartum recov and kept me feeling positive amidst a rough start to breastfeeding. Hopefully we'll have a second little one someday so I have another occasion to call upon Jen for doula support!

Words can not describe how amazing Jen is. I am so thankful she was by my side for the birth of my baby boy. I have learned so much from her, she truly loves what she does. Jen was so calm and supportive during the hardest time in my life !! I was able to stick with my birth plan and have a drug free natural birth. I feel so lucky to have experienced having a doula(jen) before during and after my birth. I did eveything she offers from placenta encapsulation which I swear by everyone needs to do that (took my blues away). I highly recommend getting everything jen has to offer its a A +++ experience. I will forever remember my birthing experience thanks to her capuring all the beautiful photos of my baby boy and our first precious moments meeting him ????. I recommend everyone hiring Jen especially if this is your first time you have no clue what your going to go through it's important to have an expert there for both you and your partner.  She has your back 100 percent !!

Jen your hard work late nigbts/early morning are truly appreciated it takes a special person to do what you do !

Jen was everything I was looking for in a Doula. She is knowledgable, kind, calming, and comes with lots of tips and advice without being overbearing. She allowed me to do things my way while providing her guidance when I needed it or asked for it. The main reason for hiring her was for support during labour - which she did the ultimate job at (myself, my partner and my mom were all relieved to have her in the room with us!) - and the icing on the cake is that she provides such sweet photos from just after labour that really are candid and priceless memories captured. Her pre and post visits are also very helpful and I definitely felt as prepared as I could have been because of her guidance. We had a really positive birth experience. Highly recommend!

My husband and I are very thankful that we had Jen as our Doula. She is extremely kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and professional. She was an amazing support to us. When we became pregnant we didn’t think that we wanted or needed a Doula but were we ever wrong! A women carries her birth story with her for a lifetime and we wanted to look back on our story fondly. We wanted to feel safe, valued, and understood and Jen helped us feel all of those. She met with us in our own home before and after our son was born. She provided a lot of useful information (but not too much to overwhelm us) and responded to our questions thoughtfully. Throughout the process, rather than telling us what we should do, she explained the pros and cons of various decisions. She would explain to us choices that she had made from her own experiences, but we never felt judged by her if we decided to do things differently. The night that our son was born was amazing and beautiful. My labor ended up being 5 hours from the time my water broke to holding him in my arms. Jen and our midwives arrived immediately after we called them. They all worked quickly, calmly, and very well together. Jen’s calm and reassuring voice was exactly what my husband and I needed in the last few moments. Many precious photos of our son’s birth that we will cherish forever were also captured by Jen. After the birth I ended up getting mastitis and a cracked nipple. I never thought that breastfeeding would be as challenging as it was. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without Jen’s support through this time. She was so encouraging and caring, which is exactly what I needed. When Jen delivered my placenta capsules, I found that they gave me a lot of energy and definitely helped my milk supply! Jen was a blessing to have and I will always look back on my birth experience fondly. She was a huge factor in the beauty of our son’s birth and my postpartum recovery.

Our experience with Jen Strilchuk as our doula was absolutely fantastic from the start of our relationship with her in early pregnancy until well after the birth of our little boy this year (2017).  She is an incredibly warm, caring and very calming person and has so much experience with so many different types of births.  Along with having birthed and raised her own 6 children, she is also able to draw from a plethora of birth experiences she has had with so many women and families over the years. This is why we feel that she is a great doula.

She was very professional and contacted us often to check-in with our pregnancy and how everything was going.  She was always available via email, text or phone and got back to us promptly whenever we had any questions prior to or after the birth.  We decided to take a prenatal education class with her (private in our home) and this was very worthwhile and informative.  Her teaching methods were clear and reassuring and gave us confidence that everything would turn out ok no matter what came our way.

And come our way things did.  We had planned a home water birth, but despite our grandest efforts and 4 days of labour, complete with every intervention we never wanted or expected, our son was finally born via cesarean birth.  As traumatic as the experience was in some ways, without Jen it would have been unimaginable.  She went above and beyond during that time and stayed with us as much as we needed.  She was always reassuring and giving us all the options we had when medical personnel and our midwives had varying opinions. Because we knew we had done everything we could, we still felt like the whole experience was positive, and that was in large part due to Jen's involvement.

We also did placenta encapsulation with her and I'm convinced that it helped me recover physically and especially emotionally after such a trying time.  Thank-you Jen!!

Hiring Jen was one of the best life decisions we’ve made! We had a beautiful, non-medicated, natural home birth – first baby. It would not have turned out this way, if we did not have Jen.

Words really fail to write about our experience with her...she’s simply amazing! There are only a handful of times during a lifetime when you will meet someone and know that they have a special gift for what they do – Jen is one of them.

My labour was long and intense. When we notified Jen, she had another client that also went into labour. Jen ended up going to her other client first and sent her back-up Doula to assist us. A few hours later, Jen showed up at our door – here to help us! She must’ve been so tired and yet she still decided to come to us. Jen stayed with me the WHOLE TIME! She comforted and coached me step by step, which I needed!

We changed from a hospital birth to a home birth when I was 7 cm dilated. We asked for Jen’s advice. She looked at me and said: “You’re healthy and you can do this”. At that moment, I trusted her 100% and we went for it. We ideally wanted to have a homebirth and Jen helped us to accomplish that! She really should win some kind of national award for the amazing service that she offers to woman today!

Jen also did our Prenatal classes which was so empowering! Her breastfeeding session has helped me to have the easiest, most wonderful breastfeeding start ever! She came for 2 postpartum visits which gave us a lifetime of guidance and peace – especially all her breastfeeding council! She also presented us with the most beautiful album of our birth photos-it’s priceless!

Jen said: “Your spouse knows you and your Doula knows birth – together they make a great team to help you bring a new life into this world.” This I have found to be most true!

Jen is AMAZING!

We had a wonderful birth experience with Jen as our Doula.  From the moment that we met her we knew that we  had made the right decision...she is calm, warm, knowledge and experienced. We believe that having Jen support us during labor was one of the main reasons I was able to have a natural birth without pain medication. She gave us lots of ideas for dealing with the pressure of contractions and I was able to labor entirely at home!!
When we got to the hospital, Jen remained supportive and stayed with us throughout the delivery. She ensured I was comfortable with breastfeeding our daughter and made a few postpartum calls and visits. She surprised us with a beautiful album documenting our birth experience...the best gift anyone could've given us!

Jen was wonderful and I sincerely recommend her to anyone looking for a fantastic doula!!!

I am so glad and so thankful to have had Jen as my Doula.  I recently had my first on Oct. 6, 2016 and I don't know how I could have done it without Jen's patience, expertise and continuous guidance.

She was there for me every step of the way.  Her knowledge about everything baby, labour and delivery made me feel comfortable and at ease during the entire process.

It was my desire to have a natural and empowering home birth and if it weren't for Jen I don't think this would have happened.  My labour was long and I spent almost 3 days in early labour with constant contractions while my baby found his way into a better postion.  Jen was with me the entire time.  She was there to ensure I ate enough, had enough fluids, got as much sleep as possible, aided with homeopathics, kept me moving and doing excercises to help with my babies position and most of all gave me the security to know that I could do it, and I did!  She was also there to keep my family at ease and help discuss options with my mid-wives and was instrumental in me being able to stick to my birth plan.  She is the best advocate I could have asked for!

Amidst all of this, she was still able take some amazing photos of the birth that will be near and dear to my heart forever.

Not only was Jen there for me during labour, but her postpartum visits were very helpful.  She completed placenta encapsulation for me and came to visit me and my baby twice after the delivery.  The placenta capsules gave me energy to get back on my feet and really helped my milk come in and I would highly recommend them!

All in all, Jen is amazing and it's evident that she truly loves being a Doula!  She goes above and beyond and made my first birth experience incredible.  I couldn't imagine it without her.  Thank-you so much Jen!

As first time parents, my husband and I were obviously nervous when it came to having a baby! I knew I was interested in a doula but my husband wasn't convinced. After meeting with Jen and learning about all the support she would offer not only me, but my husband through the process, there was no doubt that we wanted Jen to be a part of our birth story. From the start, Jen was kind, supportive, non-judgmental and very professional. My labour and delivery were very hard on me and I honestly don't know what we would have done without having Jen with us. She was so calming and provided us with much needed strength and reassurance. If we ever have another baby, Jen will be at our side again and I will gladly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula!

After I had a rough experience with my first born I was nervous to give birth again. Jen worked closely with me through my anxiety and took the time to connect with me and answer all of my questions. It put my mind at easing knowing that I could call on her and she would support me through my labor. When the big day arrived I felt like Jen was more than a Doula, it felt like she was a friend. I felt very comfortable with her. She made the experience very positive and memorable for both my Husband and myself.

Jen is an incredible human being and having her be apart of the birth of our second son was such a gift. She guided us smoothly through the various prenatal questions and preparation – always encouraging us to make the choice that is best for our family and providing ample well-researched resources to help us make those decisions.

Having the goal of a completely natural and intervention-free birth can be difficult at the best of times but our family had an additional challenge as our first son was born via c-section because he was breech. We really wanted to a natural birth and Jen was the perfect support and encourager for that goal. After several doctors appointments, it was clear that we were going to have to be very adamant about our desires and not let the medical community push us into the various different interventions that they felt were routine and necessary being a ‘VBAC’.

Jen took the time to talk through all of our concerns and help us set ourselves up for the best chance of success having to navigate around how to respectfully deal with the doctors and what they felt was necessary which we did not agree with. She always reassured us that what we wanted was good and encouraged us with what our options were and what we would be up against. It was so wonderful to have someone on our team that knew exactly where to go and what all of the routine procedures were so that we could prepare ourselves for what the hospital staff would want to do.

At 40 weeks plus 6 I had a VERY quick 3.5hr labour and Ben was born! VBAC!

I feel so grateful that Jen was apart of the birth of our son and I would wish that some level of support, knowledge and calm reassurance for every woman preparing for birth. She is worth her weight in gold and you will give your whole family the gift of a more fulfilling birth experience, prenatal and postnatal support and the chance to meet and get to know one incredible woman.

I am forever grateful for Jen and the support she gave me during my pregnancy and delivery! I knew before I got pregnant that I wanted a doula but my husband was hesitant as he thought he would be enough support. If you ask him now that our son is born, he raves about Jen and the support she provided to both of us during the birth of our first baby. Not only was Jen knowledgeable and resourceful she was full of information that you can not learn from a book. Her calming voice was a constance during the most anxious moments of my life. She always knew the appropriate words/massage or touch to put my mind at ease during labour. Her words of encouragement were very helpful during the moments of doubt. Without Jen, my memories of the greatest day of my life wouldn't be the same!!

Jen was our doula for the birth of our first child, and we also chose to have our prenatal classes with her. From our first meeting, we were very comfortable with Jen and felt confident in her experience and abilities. Her natural approach to pregnancy and birth were in line with the experience that we wanted to have. Jen was a great source of information on various topics and always discussed all the alternatives to any decision we were facing with respect to issues arising in the pregnancy. We took advantage of her lending library, reading several books from it and she also referred us to other practitioners (chiropractor, acupuncturist) that we felt would be able to assist with turning our breech baby around!

When labour finally started, in a nutshell, it didn’t go as planned! It started with being diverted to another hospital at midnight as the one we planned on delivering at had no beds available in the maternity ward. This was followed by a very long and painful labour, which ended up being augmented with oxytocin and an epidural. Obviously this was not the outcome that we had planned on, however, given slow/stalled progress and the fact that we had missed a night of sleep, it was the best choice in the circumstances. Throughout the whole experience, Jen was incredibly supportive to both of us and provided so much encouragement in what was a new and stressful experience for us. She was with us at the hospital for over 24 hours, had lots of suggestions for natural pain management, different labour positions, etc. Jen was also very supportive of our decision to ultimately augment the labour. Simply put, we couldn’t have done it without her! The photos she took after the birth were beautiful and are a priceless keepsake that we now have to remember that very special day. We absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a doula – she is caring, calm, knowledgeable and truly passionate about what she does!

I discovered Jen's website while doing research on Doulas in my area. I immediately felt a connection with her and knew that she would be an ideal match for us. When I met her, she did not dissapoint. She exudes warmth, positivity and a quiet confidence that I feel would put any first time Mom at ease. I was sold! My husband, on the other hand, was apprehensive about the idea of having a doula, "isn't supporting you my job?" and "but we have a midwife, do we really need one?" he would ask. When I played to his scientific side, and shared the research with him about a doula's role and about the positive outcomes associated with having a doula present he bought in.

We met with Jen a few times before the birth. She was professional and a wealth of knowledge on every topic we had questions on. She also provided us with extra resources and scientific studies on topics we wanted more information on (which my husband loved). She made the experience personal and supported our descisions without any judgement. We felt more prepared having Jen on our team.

At the birth, Jen spent more than 16 hours with us, throughout the early labour at home, transitioning to the hospital and even afterwards. She was a calming presence and her techniques helped me cope with the intensity of contractions. During transition, I spent a long time trying to push without any progress and it was discovered that our baby was in OP position. My my body did not engage into the pushing phase. We had to consult with an OB, and consider options. Jen and our Midwife each assisted us in trying natural techniques which would help him to flip, including calling in an acupuncturist. He eventually rolled and we were able to have a natural vaginal birth. We don't believe that this would have been the outcome, had it not been for both of them.

If you're thinking of hiring Jen, this first time Mom and initially skeptical science Dad would highly recommend it!

Jen was our birth doula for the birth of our first son. She was recommended by a colleague, and upon meeting her, we knew right away it was a perfect fit. We didn't have to search any further and she was the first person that we met with.

Jen is kind, informative, supportive and knowledgeable. She answered all questions, whether it was in person or text or email. We had prenatal sessions with her, which were also very informative and helpful. We learned a lot of things that we didn't otherwise know about, and we felt better prepared going into labor/birth.

During the actual birthing process, Jen was very supportive. It was so useful to have her there. I couldn't imagine not having her there to help guide us and support my husband

One of the best things for the photos that we received! They are incredible! Truly a reflection of what we went through, something that we will always treasure and cherish.  We are so grateful that Jen was able to document these moments to photography and then share them with us. She did an amazing job on the editing!

I could not be happier with Jen as our Doula. I did not know what to expect having a doula, but knew i need to have all the information and a resource available to me to ask questions and hear all the options. However, I knew I wasnt wanting a home-birth style birth. I knew I was far to skeptical for that. Jen answered every question i ever gave her with options for me to make a decision based on what was best for me, my pregnancy and my family. I never once felt pressured and I never felt uneducated about anything. I am a very 'type-a' and controlling person, and learning to surender to my body was challenging, but in the end Jen had educated me so well on all the processes that I knew when and where to be firm and where to let things happen. I was terrifed about birth. I am proud to say I loved the birthing process and I'd do it a million times over again thanks to Jen! I came out feeling like a superhero and proud of my body for everything it could do and I know I would not have felt that way if Jen didn't educate me to be in charge of my own process. As with many births, it didn't go as I had written out but every decision I made with confidence and knowledge. I am even considering a water birth for the next time!! Jen changed my life and gave me a passion for the birth process. Thank you for all you do Jen!

It's hard to express how incredibly valuable it was to have a doula at our birth, especially someone as wonderful as Jen. I felt so well supported going into labour with her only a phone call away. She was calm and reassuring not only to me, but also to my husband. She knew when to let him take a front seat, and when to step in and offer guidance. I would recommend her to anyone and I am so happy I made the decision to have Jen as part of my home birth team. An added bonus - the photos she captured! I didn’t realize how much I’d treasure having those!

Thank you Jen, you are very special to us and we are so grateful!

My husband and I's expectations were repeatedly exceeded by Jen and Blossoming Birth Services. We were most impressed by how informed, organized and open minded Jen was. We felt very comfortable and cared for by Jen, she was available at all times to answer our questions or just listen to us with a compassionate ear. She helped to enable us to have the wonderful birth experience we wanted, it was very healing for us having had a previously difficult birth. Jen will advocate for you and help you navigate the medical system in order for you to fulfill your birth plan and also help to prepare you in the event a deviation may be necessary. I am so glad we took advantage of the placenta encapsulation offered, within days, Jen had my placenta delivered to me carefully prepared and beautifully presented. Jen is an attentive, thoughtful, and kind individual and an invaluable partner for any woman to have on her birthing journey.

Doula Jen is a rare human. Few are as genuine as she is. Noone has the stamina she posesses.

Jen believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to make decisions during the birth experience that feel best for the family. We were given that opportunity thanks to Jen and her guidance through pregancy, labour and post partum.

Jen is someone who things things through in a philosophical manner, as if she has never made a decision in life without deliberate thought and consideration. You can ask Jen anything and get a response grounded in a vast experience of birth stories.

While in labour, Jen's support was unbelievable. She became the anchor for emotions and physical and mental struggles that we were all experiencing. It's like she stood in the eye of the hurricane, always calm and always there for guidance (and some much needed cold face cloths!).

All birth stories are different. We could not imagine the story of the birth of our daughter without Jen's huge helping hand in the entire process.

Go find Jen. You will not regret it.

Jen was my doula for the birth of my second baby. I knew I was very interested in having her just from her website, which contained so much useful info. From our first meeting she was very warm and kind, and just very genuine. She is always available by email or phone/text to answer any questions, and if she doesn't know she will find out for you. With subsequent visits, she was always such a wealth of info on everything pregnancy and birth related. I really appreciated that even though she's from Abbotsford, she came all the way to Coquitlam for home visits, and to RCH for my birth. During labour, she was very calm and serene, and although I had said originally that I would like to try to birth naturally without the use of drugs, I really wanted to throw in the towel and give up but she somehow knew I had it in me to keep going without it, and encouraged (*cough*tricked*cough, LOL) me to keep going. =)  In hindsight I really appreciated that she did that for me, and knew I could do it, when I thought I couldn't. That's the biggest gift she gave me, because for my first, I ended up having to use an epidural, and I really wanted to experience a natural birth. She was also really great about taking pictures and giving it to us in a lovely photo book, pictures we will always cherish of our little one. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jen as your doula. She has an amazing wealth of experience, personally and professionally. <3

We love Jen and we feel so blessed that she was a part of our birthing experience!  I am 41 years old and my first son was born this past July.  I was so excited to finally be pregnant and I wanted the best birthing experience possible.  I went with a midwife and we were planning a home birth.   As I started also consider the benefits of having a doula help as well, Jen was recommeded to me by a friend who was also pregnant.  My friend couldn't say enough good things about Jen, and I have to agree that they were all true: professional, caring, thoughtful, knowledgable, calm, strong, experienced.  What got me was the fact that Jen has had 6 of her own children!  We met and hit it off immediately!  She's 'kindred spirit' as Anne of Green Gables would say.

Jen was there for me in a way that a doctor/midwife couldn't be.  She came to our home, brought us books to read and videos to watch, and went over what we would need to know for birthing day. She went over everything that she brings to the birth - from her TENS machine to the essential oils as well as lots of other stuff I can't remember now. As my due date approched she texted me and cheered me on.  I was so thankful to have her there to contact as questions came up and as decisions had to be made.  I was 11 days past my 'due date' and Jen was so good at keeping me calm and focused and relaxed. I still get teary eyed when I think about the day my son was born.  We had him at home and it was the most amazing experience.  Jen got to see me at my most vulnerable and what meant the most to me was that she held my hand throughout.  The pictures that she took at the birth are such an absolute treasure!  So tasteful and well done.  I can't imagine my birthing story without her in it.  Thank you so much Jen!

I knew having a doula would be helpful, but having Jen in particular made a bigger difference than I ever expected.

When I was overdue and went to almost 42 weeks, Jen reassured me and helped ease my anxieties during what felt like such a long period of waiting. She also gave me the encouragement I needed to trust my own instincts. Because of this, I decided to wait an extra day before I would accept an induction, and I ended up going into labour on my own that day. She played an important role in supporting me so that I could make the right decision.

Having Jen’s encouragement and experience was essential to being able to have the natural birth that I had hoped for. She was a reassuring presence and knew exactly what to do to help me relax. Jen even transformed the hospital room into the perfect, calm atmosphere with electric candles. She provided an important level of support on the birth team and helped make my birth a positive experience.

Before and after the birth, Jen was always available to answer questions with a text, email, or phone call. She shared resources and kept in regular contact.

The photos she captured are amazing – to be able to look back on those first moments of meeting our daughter is incredibly special.

Jen is a genuine, calm, and gentle person. My husband and I really enjoyed talking to her and getting to know her during our prenatal and postpartum visits. Thank you Jen!

Words can not explain how incredible Jen was as our Doula but I will do my best. Jen was born to do this, she is a pioneer in the birthing world and I would encourage everywoman to hire her for your birthing journey. She is one of the most warm, compassionate, loving, knowledgable, wise and intelligent women I have ever met in my life. Jen is an inspiration from her own birth stories to how she empowers women everyday to find who they are through this journey of pregnancy and birth.

I came from Alberta to have our baby in BC so i was new to the community. From the begining she provided me with much support and information to help me make some very important decisions, such as who my care givers would be and where I would give birth. Jen provides the wealth of knowledge that she has in this arena but allows you and your partner to make your choice. Her prenatal classes are fantastic filled with lots of  important information and fun, my husband found them to be very useful. Jen goes above and beyond and frankly I feel as though she should charge more because she is worth so much more. Anytime I needed her she was there, I could call on her and ask my questions and concenrs.

My birth journey began when I met Jen, she helped me work through my fears, she helped me through the emotional and spiritual side of birth which is so so important. She offered so many great techniques and tools to help better my physical health as well as my mental and emtional health. It was my first birth and it was the most increidble experience of my life. I was very determined to have a natural birth and she helped me achieve that with every step. The day our baby boy arrived Jen was pivotal for my husband and I, reassuring and coaching us through it all but allowing my husband and I to labour this baby. It was the most empowring momement of my life and I thank Jen for much of that.

Having Jen as my (our) doula for the birth of our first child, was a wonderful and enlightening experience!

I was never scared of labour, but being a person who never thought about it very much, I had absolutely zero idea of what to expect, other than what you see in movies! My husband is in the medical field, and therefore has only really witnessed birth in a very medically controlled environment.
The pre-natal classes were very helpful, Jen taught us that the process of birth could (and should!) be, something to look forward to, embrace, and even enjoy! We wanted as natural a birth as possible, and by teaching me coping techniques and informing us of the many different choices & alternatives that would allow this to happen safely, Jen made me feel empowered by what my body could do, and therefore feel confident in taking control of the birth of our child. What I really loved, was that Jen did not sugar-coat the idea of labour, she was very honest & open about everything, and that made me feel a lot more realistic in what to expect. I never felt judged if our opinions differed, only supported and safe.

I had a very long labour, but Jen was there every step of the way! Whether it was keeping both my husband and I calm, dimming lights to relax me, gently reminding me of my options when things got tough, holding me up, helping me push, or even just bringing me juice & water to keep my energy levels up. And when our sweet boy eventually arrived, she was there to capture that amazing moment in her beautiful photography. I will cherish the birth album that Jen made for us forever!
Thank you Jen, for making such an important life experience, a thousand times more amazing!

Going into my first pregnancy I knew I needed some extra help in addition to having Daddy there. I wanted an experienced Doula that could be with me from start to finish. Jen came highly recommended to us and from the first meeting we felt completely comfortable with her.

One of the things that we found helpful was that Jen was able go through the prenatal workshop with us in the comfort of our own home. These classes helped to strengthen our relationship with Jen. We felt like we were able to ask the questions we wanted and were able to explore the topics we really needed to understand more. She provided a wide range of information and research for us. I knew I wanted to have an all natural birth experience from the moment I found out I was pregnant and I couldn't have done it without the knowledge from Jen. The closer I got to my due date the more hesitant I became in having an all natural experience but Jen reassured every hesitation and made me feel completely confident.

She helped us go through and write our birth plan, which was a blessing, because labor happened so fast for us we forgot to bring our birth plan with us to the hospital. Jen met us at the hospital, she assisted us in expressing our wishes to the nurses and doctors and within an hour we had our beautiful daughter.

At our postnatal visit an indescribable gift came to us in the form of a photo album. The photos Jen was able to capture were beyond beautiful. She brought it to us at our first postnatal visit and my heart melted, we would have never been able to capture those first moments as a new family without her.

What can I say to describe my experience with Jen? She was knowledgeable, supportive, kind, flexible, reassuring, patient and by my side throughout my birth. It was tough, but she was my anchor during those 30 hours. Her guidance did not stop once my little one was born, but continued when she checked in on us in the hospital and in our postpartum visit once we went home. Jen also helped me advocate for the medical follow up I needed to recover and heal following my daughter’s birth. Words cannot express how grateful we both are to be healthy and thriving, in no small part to Jen’s support. In addition, the photo album she created for us was just gorgeous and is something we will treasure always.
Thank you so much!

We hired Jen as our doula when I was 37 weeks pregnant with my second child. I considered a doula for our first birth but quickly dismissed the idea because I worried it would make my husband feel as though he wasn't enough support. I realized afterward that a doula would be there to support not just me, but my husband also. Jen did exactly that. Jen has a wonderful understanding and knowledge base regarding natural solutions for not just labour, but for pre and postpartum care. I wish we had hired her sooner. I chose to have a hospital birth and Jen was incredibly supportive of my decisions.  I had hoped for a medication free birth, but opted for an epidural.  Jen got me through early labour but I decided the epidural was a good option for me as I responded well to an epidural with my first. I could still feel labour and work with my body, and I didn't feel it took away from my experience. Jen was also very supportive postpartum, with helpful solutions for increasing my milk supply without medications.  I found the follow up support from Jen to be just what I needed to help me through some of the toughest days nursing. She was one of my greatest cheerleaders. As an added bonus, Jen is a wonderful birth photographer, and I have the first moments meeting my precious little one recorded in a beautiful photojournal. I would recommend Jen to anyone considering hiring a doula. She would be amazing at a home birth or hospital birth, and is kind, diplomatic, but also great at helping support you in decision making. We know who we want at our next birth if we are fortunate enough to have more children. Thank you Jen!

Jen is an amazing doula!  Her calm, professional demeanor and competence were evident from our first meeting and was critical during 48+ hours of labour.  We found the prenatal visits very helpful in preparing us for labouring at home; however, we were so thankful that Jen came to our home and coached through 2 days of labour!  Had she not been present, we would have gone to the hospital much eariier and labour very likely would have been medically induced.  With Jen's guidance, we explored a wide range of natural pain relief and labour enhancers (e.g., walking, acupuncture, homeopathics, massage, and various positioning), minimized time spent in hospital, and achieved the natural birth we hoped for. Throughout labour and delivery, Jen took numerous photos which she presented to us in an album.  A skilled photographer, her photos capture some beautiful moments which we are so grateful to have documented.  Jen also encapsulated my placenta, which has helped me cope with the physical and emotional transition post-partum.  Jen is an incredibly skilled and compassionate doula and comes with our highest recommendations!

We interviewed two doulas and the things that stood out with Jen were that she's confident, articulate, friendly and professional. Photos were important to us; Jen's camera meant my husband wouldn't have to think about taking photos. We treasure the little album she put together for us. She even sent her camera into the OR with us and our midwife and anesthetist took photos of the birth. We were on the same page regarding minimal interventions in our hospital birth, but we never felt like she would force us to avoid interventions; I knew she would support us even if I screamed for an epidural, but I also knew she would gently do everything to help us avoid it. We're busy people, my husband is a very private person, and I tend to ask a lot of questions so we decided to hire Jen for private prenatal classes - it was the perfect choice for us. She used a variety of teaching methods and we learned a lot; particuarly helpeful was the exercise going through interventions, how they domino, and brainstorming the various natural ways to get pain relief using all our senses. This alleviated many of my fears. The birth was not what we had anticipated: IV, constant fetal monitoring, baby position leading to no progress past 5cm for 15 hours, plummeting infant heart-rate, emergency c-section. Through our prenatal class we were prepared for each inervention, knew why they were required, what they meant and were prepared to accept our baby's birth story. I didn't feel like a failure and attribute that to Jen's training. Jen was a wonderful support and I could see her jump into action with positions and homeopathics to try to get baby to turn and avoid c-section. I knew when she confirmed the c-section was our only choice that it truly was. She waited for us to come from surgery, took photos of our parents meeting our daughter, showed my husband how to change that first nasty meconium diaper, and was a great support both practically and emotionally as we ended that long day.

Jen was a lifesaver.  The only reason I was able to have the unmedicated birth I wanted was because of Jen.  She was truly incredible.  She was super helpful and informative in all of our prenatal meetings, was my rock during my labour and a true delight during our follow up appointments.  I know I sound a little fan-girlish but she is amazing.  I won't even consider another labour without having Jen there.  Thank you Jen, for making my delivery (slightly more) bearable.  You rock!

Jen thank you for being absolutely amazing at what you do! Our experiences with you were nothing but positive. From the thorough prenatal classes in the privacy of our own home you answered every question and concern of ours with ease. One thing we appreciated the most was that Jen was always on time! Open communication is very important and we felt she brought that to the table! Loved the wonderful photo keepsake book she also made for us! I was able to see our baby's first photo out in this world thanks to Jen! Such beautiful memories captured so wonderfully! We have loved to share the photo book with our family and friends as it captures our birth story! we don't regret anything about hiring Jen! She is always willing to answer questions and is quick in her responses! I can't thank her enough for supporting us through such a difficult journey! Our pregnancy had a few ups and downs but Jen was always there providing the guidance and the help we needed! As first time parents I don't know how we could have made it through without her. We are ever so greatful to have her be apart of our story. I still remember my husband contacting Jen when my water broke, Jen continued to check in with us regardless of what was going on for her. We never felt like we werent important to her. She made us feel secure and confident as our doula!

My experience with Jen as my doula was fantastic!  From the moment we met I knew I wanted her at my birth.  I had planned for a home birth but things moved so quickly I was told by my midwife to go to the hospital.  I was feeling a bit panicky at how fast everything was going but the second I saw Jen I calmed down.  My delivery was short and sweet and it was her voice that I was concentrating on the whole time.  One of the best parts was the glass of juice and delicious muffin she grabbed me right after delivery!  (I had gestational diabetes so it felt like a dream snack!!!)  On Jen's second post partum visit she gave us a photo album with pictures she had taken immediately after our baby was born.  The pictures were so beautiful and real...I can't even describe the feelings they give me when i look at them.  We will forever be greatful for that as we were still a bit in shock so definitley weren't thinking of pictures!  I didn't even know she was taking them!  The thing I am most thankful to Jen for was the postpartum support I received.  My baby had slow weight gain after birth and I was feeling a bit pressured to do some things I wasn't comfortable with and Jen constantly reminded me that I was a good mother and I could do this!  She replied to my endless ranting texts and really helped me stay positive.  She recommended a wonderful LC and even a cranial sacral therapist to help with my fussy little girl!
Jen is an awesome person and would definitley be one of the first people I would call if I found out I was pregnant again!

Well, in the beginning I indeed was skeptical. To have a stranger in our private circle seemed odd and uncomfortable. I’ve known nothing of doula services before so I read a little, looked through bookmarks my wife(Alla Osipova) made. I think it didn’t take me long to change my opinion. In our circumstances to have a doula in the end seemed actually essential.
To second my wife’s feedback, Jen seemed tactful, caring right from the start and she proved to have a gentle unobtrusive way of being with us through pregnancy and birth. During labor relying on Jen being with Alla I could leave the room to have a walk to calm down and get back to senses. In the proper moment I had a chance to think for my wife, for the kid and what was necessary to do and without what we could manage. That was precisely what my wife wanted from me – to support her when it was most required –when she could doubt her strength. So in the end, we had natural birth with no intrusions, no medication or management, no consequences. My wife courageously coped with 10 hours of active labor finally giving birth to our healthy son.
I am grateful To Jen for all the knowledge shared, all the options researched, all possible scenarios covered. Surely, the way it went wasn’t in any book, but we were ready and armed with her experience. We had confidence when it wasn’t time for second-guessing and succumbing to fear of what can happen if and so on.
Hats off to our midwives and Langley Hospital staff, and a special sombrero off to Jen!

Jen was our doula for the delivery of my first baby on March 11,2015.
I have been researching natural birth for quite some time and when I learned what a doula was, I quickly knew I wanted to have one at my birth .When I got pregnant , I still wanted a doula and especially with my life situation( we had just moved to BC) I knew having a doula was vital, so I started my search and quickly found Jen and set up a time to meet .At first my husband was skeptical to say the least but after the initial meet up we both knew she was going to be our doula-she just clicked and it felt like we were talking a friend I had never met.
My husband and I are so grateful for all the help Jen gave us at pregnancy and during labor. During our prenatal visits Jen went over a plethora of information of what to expect before labor and during. She would spend time with us and made us feel genuinely cared for as clients; answering any questions we had. Before and during labor, she was available via phone, text, email 24/7. Her help during labor was indispensible. We truly couldn't have asked for a more beautiful birthing experience. She was also as helpful and caring following delivery.
As a sweet bonus, she took some wonderful photos as we shared our first moments as a family of three. Jen is an extremely talented birth photographer, capturing the best (and emotional) moments during labor and after birth, while being unobtrusive and letting my husband and I enjoy those moments as a couple-we feel so grateful to have those moments captured, images we will cherish for years and will someday show our son as we tell him his story.
Jen is the most caring and nurturing person which makes her perfect as a doula. I would recommend her wholeheartedly. She is passionate, dedicated and knowledgeable in what she does a true gem!

Jen is amazing. She helped me find my voice, and have the birth experience I wanted. She was so loving and patient and made me feel safe during every minuet of the experience. I felt that as long as she was with me I could do it. She is professional and knowledgeable and taught us many things that my husband and I are so thankful for. She was so caring and non judgmental. She truly cares about women and families and what they feel is right for them. She not only supported me in the birth of my first child, but she supported me as I leaned to speak up for my right to have the birth I wanted. She is gentle, soft spoken, and kind, and she will support you through your birth as much or as little as you need. She will be the first person I call when I find out I'm pregnant again!

I cannot express how happy I am with the support both my husband and I received from Jen. My husband and I have one son, who is adopted, but have never been through the labour experience before. So after the first few months of pregnancy hearing about family and friends negative experience of labour, I researched into finding a doula to support me through this process. I interviewed a few doula's recommended by my midwives but felt the best connection with Jen. My husband and I knew she was the right person to embark on this journey with us, we hired her on the spot! Due to my work schedule (working long nights and some weekends) I could not attend any prenatal classes and was feeling disappointed by this. Jen offered to do prenatal workshops in the comfort of our own home at a time and day that worked well for us. This was amazing and helped to prepare us for the impending birth of our son! Together we created a birth plan that I felt comfortable with, which included as little interventions as possible and no drugs! I was adament on this as I wanted to experience as natural a birth as possible. My labour was not like anything I had envisioned or prepared for. It was long, enduring and I encountered some complications which I did not plan for. My baby was posterior for the majority of the labour, which was extremely painful for me. If I did not have Jen there to support me, I don't know how I would have managed to cope. It was determined that I would most likely need a c section and the OR room was booked, midwives in scrubs and they were handing my husband his scrubs to get changed. Jen knew I was not happy with this. When everyone else gave up on me, it was her and my husband that encouraged me to cont pushing. Thanks to Jen, I gave birth to my son naturally and safely and it is an experience I am grateful to have had! She also created a lovely keepsake book for us with photos of our birth experience - photos I will cherish forever!

Jen is a wonderful doula and I had such a great experience with her. She was a real friend and confidant. Very sensitive and intuitive as well as knowledgable! After having four babies and no doula, Jen attended my home water birth for my fifth and it turned out to be the best birth by far! It was the birth I always wanted and having Jen there was a part of that whole wonderful and fulfilling experience. I definitely recommend her :-)

When we found out that we were pregnsnt for a  second time i told my husband that I wanted a doula this time.  He found a few diffferent doulas and passed me their websites.  We contacted Jen not only because she she has lots of well earned wonderful reviews but because for her many years of experience.  The difference between the birthes of our two kids is like night and day.  I totally blame Jen for making the birth of my son such an amazing experience.  She helped keep me and my family calm and focused.  I was able to welcome a healthy 10 lbs baby boy, naturally.  I honestly believe that it would have been a differnt story if she hadn't come into our lives.  Thank you Jen.

My husband and I are both in the medical field and have attended some births and are familiar with the mechanics, so even though this was our first child we were hesitant about whether or not we’d actually need a doula. We both agree that hiring Jen was the best decision we could have made, hands down.
Our pre-labour meeting was a great way to get me thinking about my birth plan and the interventions I was and wasn’t okay with. I had imagined a natural labour with no interventions but of course things never go exactly as planned and when the time came I had to be medically induced, due to risk to baby. I can’t imagine how I would have gotten through my labour without Jen. Because of the induction, my contractions came on quite strong and close together throughout my entire labour, and to top that off I had severe lower back pain and pressure. I pretty much wore Jen’s TENS machine throughout my labour and I don’t think her hands stopped massaging my lower back for more than a few minutes at a time! Jen was such a calm and reassuring presence for myself and my husband, talking me through each contraction and providing constant encouragement and support. When things felt too intense she was so helpful with suggesting position changes, using her soothing oils and other natural pain relief strategies. I honestly feel that I would have ended up so disappointed with my birth experience if I hadn’t hired Jen and I’m sure I would have ended up with an epidural and c-section (two things I knew ahead of time I really, really didn’t want)!!
It’s seldom that you meet someone who is so well suited and as passionate about their career as Jen. I could go on and on but to sum it up: Jen was amazing, truly a wealth of knowledge and support, anyone who has her as their doula will not be disappointed.

Words cannot describe what Jen means to me.  Being a first time mom I really had absolutely no idea what to expect going into Labour.  I had read plenty of books and thought I was going to breathe my way through each contraction until my baby magically appeared.  And then my water broke... it was finally about to happen!  I called Jen immediately and she helped me stay calm until I actually started labour.  By 5am the next morning I thought I was ready to go to the hospital so Jen met us there bright and early... turns out I hadn't even started dilating at all yet.  The doctors wanted me to stay at the hospital and be induced but this was not what I wanted.  Jen helped me have the confidence to voice what I wanted and so we went home and Jen came to our house and tried to help get the labour moving along.  She went above and beyond to do what she could to help so I wouldn't have to be induced. We went for multiple walks, she made me specials teas as well 2 castor oil cocktails, and she even was able to bring over a midwife to try some acupuncture on me - she just really helped me to relax.  At 11pm that night we all went back to the hospital.  Nothing can ever prepare you for going through labour and this again is where Jen comes in.  I wouldn't have been able to get through the 36 hours of labour without Jen.  She has such a calming presence and helped me get through each and every contraction.   Jen stayed by my side from 5am Thursday morning until 1am Saturday.  You will not find a more knowledgeable, caring, inspiring birthing coach than Jen.  She gave me the confidence and motivation to make it through my labour and make it through the way I wanted it to happen.   Jen's help has not stopped there... Being a first time mom I was always able to talk to her anytime I had a question.  She is truly an amazing woman and I would highly recommend her to anyone.

I can't say enough how wonderful it was getting to know Jen and having her as my Doula.  After attending a Prenatal in a day class I decided that I wanted to explore having a doula as part of my birth plan.  After meeting Jen in our consultation I knew for sure that she was the one for us!

Both my husband and I found the prenatal sessions with Jen to be so beneficial!  She helped us to understand more about the birthing process and educated us and helped us to be more prepared for our upcoming experience.

We experienced a very long labor, and Jen stayed with us and guided us the whole time.  For me, I loved having use of the different tools and helpful items she brought along.  For my husband, it was wonderful having the extra support and someone to relieve him at times.  We also love the photos and keepsake album Jen created for us.  Without her, we wouldn't have captured those first moments and first few hours of our daughter's life.  :-)

I would (and do) recommend Jen to any and all friends who are having babies as without her, I'm sure we wouldn't have had such a calm and enjoyable birth experience!

There are so many wonderful things I can say about Jen I don't even know where to start. My husband and I met Jen over coffee and decided immediately that we wanted her to be apart of our experience with pregnancy, labour and delivery. We decided to do our prenatal classes in the privacy of our own home. That's where we really got to know Jen. My husband and I both looked forward to having her come over. She always came in with her beautiful smile and a hug. During our classes she taught my husband and I so much on what to expect, answered all of our questions and we had a lot of laughs as well. She was more than just a doula to us, she was a friend. Into my third trimester I started getting alot of anxiety and she was always there for support. She spent hours on the phone with me or texting giving me advice or just listening and never once did I feel judged by her or embarrassd by my concerns. If fact it was the opposite, she always made me feel totally comfortable, reassured and she opened up about similar situations in her own life. One example of Jen's kind heart is she offered me the appointment that she had booked for herself at her acupuncturist because she thought I needed it more. She met up with me to drive me there and sat in the room with me during treatment just to make me more comfortable.

When labour came, she helped me breath through every contraction, suggested different positions and was there to support my husband and I without being intrusive. I ended up labouring at home until I was 10 cm dilated and getting to the hospital ready to push which is what I wanted. I ended up having the most amazing natural childbirth experience and giving birth to my baby girl Paige. Jen stayed with us a few hours after my daughter was born until my husband made me let her leave haha!

Jen is truly a special woman and helped me discover a confidence in myself that I never knew existed. I am forever thankful she was apart of my experience. ??

Being this was my first pregnancy, I did not know what to expect.  Prior to hiring Jen as my doula, I really battled the fears of labour and childbirth.  But from the first meeting I had with Jen, I knew she was the right woman to guide me through my apprehensions and be there through this journey.  Our prenatal appointments gave me strength and courage to go into labour with a comfortable frame of mind.  We discussed my fears and she gave a non-judgmental ear to listen and proper tools to face those fears calmly and answered my husband's questions and concerns as well.  As I went into labor, Jen was there the entire time, assisting me with proper breathing techniques and being the gentle and sane person I needed, even when I felt that everything else was going crazy.  My birth did not go as planned but my son was born healthy via c-section and even though I was out for the procedure, Jen stayed with my husband as I slept and waited for me to be united with my son.  It meant so much, seeing she was still there even when she couldn't be in the OR.  It is beyond evident that Jen takes her role as a doula seriously and professionally.  She will definitely be one of the first I call when I'm pregnant again because I could not imagine going through such an experience without her.

I have two children and have had the opportunity to experience two natural labours both under 3 hours in total length. My first labour, I did not have a doula for. The labour was fast, intense, and of course, extremely painful. The experience was horrible for me. I had every intention of NOT going through that sort of pain EVER again. When I found out I was pregnant with my second I immediately looked for a doula, hoping to have a different birthing experience than the first. I found Jen, and after our first interview I was sure she was meant to be the doula for my second delivery. My second delivery, although comparible in duration and intensity, was 100 times better and easier than the first. I can defintitely say that it was because of the support and care I received from Jen during my labour. Her methods and support made the pain manageable. At the end of my labour and delivery, I actually found myself saying that it wasn't all that bad, which was a far cry from my first labour experience. Jen has the experience and knowledge to support every emotion and pain that come with pregnancy, labour, delivery, and post partum. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking or thinking of hiring a doula.

Having Jen as our Doula was an amazing experience and one that I will never forget. When I first met her at our home during our first prenatal appointment, I knew immediately that she would be a perfect labour support for me and my husband. Jen's calmning, grounded energy permeated our home at our initial meeting and I felt I had more confidence to birth naturally and without the use of pain medications. It was wonderful to have someone to talk candidly with during the prenatal meetings, where I could voice any fears or concerns or even excitement over the reality of becoming a parent. Knowing that she was my advocate—supporting what I wanted for this birth experience—was huge in expelling any fears when I finally went into labour. During my labour Jen was instrumental in holding the space for me to feel each contraction while reminding me of my body's innate ability to birth naturally. She coached me during each contraction with my breath and encouraged me to move in anyway that felt instinctively right. Many times I felt I'd 'hit the wall' with how many more contractions I could take or pushes towards the end of my labour, but hearing her calming and reassuring voice would bring me back to the present moment and I knew I would be able to get through it. My husband also felt that having Jen there helped him relax knowing I was being so well-cared for which helped alleviate any extra anxiety for him during my labouring and birth. Jen also came by our home for a few post-partum visits which was wonderful. Again, I felt I could talk candidly with her and she also gave some breast feeding tips which was very helpful for me as a new mom. I would highly recommend Jen as a Doula to anyone looking for a truly wholistic, supportive and conscious birthing experience. I'm so grateful I had Jen as my Doula and I give her tons of credit for my drug-free, uncomlicated birthing experience.

We used Jen for the birth of our first child and would highly recommend her services. We met with Jen twice before the birth and went over all of our options and wishes in detail. I felt confident going into the birth that Jen and I were on the same page and that she would help me get the birth experience that I wanted. Once my water broke I called Jen and we were in contact until I needed her to come to the house. When Jen arrived I was experiencing back labour and she asked if I would try her Tens machine. The tens machine eliminated my back labour completely and made me feel much more comfortable. I used the tens machine throughout my entire labour. When we were at the hospital Jen coordinated with the nurse as I did not want any drugs or an IV as several attempts were made to give me an IV. I feel that without Jen the liklihood of me having an IV would have been high. Jen was an amazing support to both me and my husband. Jen was an advocate for me and kept reminding me that I had more options available aside from drugs and other medical interventions. In the end I gave birth to a healthy baby boy without any medical interventions and feel very satisfied with my birthing experience. Jen was an amazing help after our son was born and stayed for a few hours to help me shower, get comfortable and ensure that our son would latch and start nursing properly. Jen followed up with us once we were home from the hospital and met with us twice to ensure things were going well. Jen has continued to stay in contact with us to ensure things have been going well and gave support and advice when our sons weight gain was an issue. Jen also took photos once our son was born capturing the first moments of his life. The photos that she took are priceless and I appreciate the fact that we have them. After the experience with Jen we will definetly be calling her once we are expecting our second child. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her services to anyone.

I am so thankful that Jen was there throughout the labor and birth of Ryan.  It was my first labor and it was so comforting to have Jen there to guide me through the process.  We met with her several times prior to the labor which was a great way to get to know each other. She was in frequent phone contact with us as we approached and passed Ryan's due date and was great at giving advice and a supportive ear.  After 3 days of consistent but mild pre labor contractions, my active labor started quickly.  When we called Jen I was starting to feel like I couldn't breath with each contraction.  As soon as Jen arrived she was amazing at helping me stay calm and focus getting through each contraction.  Her help allowed me to feel comfortable staying in the comfort of my home as labor progressed and when we arrived at the hospital I was already 8cm dilated.  Jen was also an amazing comfort source for my husband which allowed him to be a huge support for me through the labor.  After Ryan was born Jen stayed with us until we were settled.  She then met with us several times in the first couple weeks after the birth and continued to check in with us by phone and email to provide additional support and advice as needed.  I will not hesitate to recommend Jen as a doula to anyone and if we decide to have another baby I hope Jen will be by our side.

Jen Strilchuk was my prenatal class teacher and doula for the birth of our son. Her prenatal classes were not only educational, they were fun and engaging. She answer all our questions and addressed our fears in the comfortable setting of our own living room. The classes were tailored to our needs and schedule. I would highly recommend this over a pre-scheduled classes elsewhere.
Her doula services are a source of tremendous support for first time parents. She was knowledgable, professional and patient with all my questions as well as waiting the 17 days overdue my baby decided to be! She provided support not only in her knowledge of the event physically but also emotionally. As the birthing process is a roller coaster of emotions, this was very helpful. She addresses the holistic approach from aromatherapy to homeopathy to acupuncture, which is what drew me to her in the first place.
Jen created a warm, safe and comfortable environment for us to experience one of the most exciting times of our lives. It wouldn't have been the same without her! Thanks Jen!!!

Jen’s services as a doula were above and beyond. She made our experience as first time parents relaxing, less intimidating and overall less scary! She is knowledgeable, experienced, patient, non-judgemental, open and loving. Her excellent skills and kind personality are what made her a phenomenal doula and we would highly recommend her to anyone looking for doula services!

The birth of our first child (a daughter named Margaret) would not have gone as smoothly nor as beautifully had Jen not been there. We have so much to be thankful for reflecting on our pregnancy and birth experience – and at the top of the list is Jen!

During the prenatal visits and prenatal classes, Jen taught me a lot about labour itself, how to breathe during labour, how to push, how to prepare for birth (both physically and emotionally) and she helped us reason with our fears and concerns about labour and about becoming parents. Jen also taught my husband techniques to help support me during labour – which is what we were looking for as first time parents. She connected us to resources, including an acupuncturist, homeopathy and books/websites. We learned so much and Jen provided us with the right tips, tricks and tools to have a smooth, natural labour and delivery. We knew she was there during our pregnancy with any questions (big or little) as well as helpful advice and wisdom. Had we not known what she taught us – our labour and delivery would not have gone even half as well.

Overall, Jen helped instill us with the skills, knowledge and confidence that we needed to have a wonderful birth experience. We felt her love of this profession in all our interactions. We are so thankful to have been connected to her. We had the most amazing birth experience because of her. We hope to connect with her in the future when we have another little bundle of joy! Thank you Jen!

My husband and I didn’t plan on hiring a doula. We were not familiar with the services they provide and thought that since we have a midwife we wouldn’t need one. We knew we wanted to have a prenatal class so after looking into different ones, we were intrigued to find that we could have a private class done at our home. I came across Jens website and noticed that she offered a variety of different services including private prenatal class. So we booked Jen for one. It was perfect! She came to our house equipped with all sorts of great information props and activities. She listened to us and answered all of our MANY questions we had. During the class we learned more about what a doula provides during childbirth. We knew right away that this was something we wanted to have available to us and that Jen was the perfect one for us. So we asked her to be at our birth as well. We are so thrilled we did! I ended up being 10 days early. My water broke and active labor started almost immediately after, Jen came soon after we called her. She gave me the support I needed while my husband set up the birthing pool and gave my husband the reassurance that he was doing exactly what I needed. Jen captured pictures of our beautiful new family in the moments right after our daughter was born. We are so grateful for these and love to look back at them and reflect on those wonderful moments when we met our daughter for the first time. We highly recommend Jen’s services to anyone contemplating having a doula at their birth. We are so happy we did!

When people ask me how the birth of my baby was, they are constantly amazed at how I was able to deliver a big baby naturally at home without or drugs and smile when I talk about it today. I believe Jen's support was essential in making it happen. Our experience with her was remarkable. What I loved the most about her service was that she is always there to answer your calls/texts/emails at any time. This made us feel secure for when "the day" arrived. She also has back up doulas, just in case.

I can’t express how helpful Jen was to me, and my husband. She was calm, very supportive of my decisions, and I don’t know how I’d have gotten through everything without her. She was very compassionate, very knowledgeable, and made me feel very secure in this new experience. Jen's confidence, knowledge, skill, and calming presence was a tremendous asset to me during my pregnancy, labour and birth, I am grateful that she was able to be my doula.

Jen is absolutely amazing at what she does.  She completely went above and beyond an expectations I had when I thought about bring on a doula.  She was always there for me for any questions I had and still have.  She was encouraging, comforting, and knew exactly what to do to support me in every way possible.  I had a very difficult labour and I contribute so much of my drug free and c-section free delivery to this amazing woman! Because of Jen my son was not subjected to any drugs which was my ultimate goal.  I believe if it was not for her I would have been medicated and most likely ended up having a c-secion as my son was posterior.  I can not thank her enough and can not explain in words the difference she made to my pregnancy, labour, delivery and postpartum experience!!! Highly, highly recomend Jen as your doula!

During my 51 hours of labour I found Jennifer Strilchuk to be a super supportive Doula that was with me from the beginning to  the end of my labour. When my labour started she called and texted me on a regular basis to see how I was progressing. On the second day she arrived at my home at 8:00 a.m. and stayed with my husband and I until 6:00 a.m. the next day. During that time Jen did exercises with me and my husband to get my water to break and the dilation to progress. We did not realize it but my baby's hand was positioned up around her head which was hindering the dilation process. Jen was supportive and encouraging throughout never leaving my side. I don't think that I could have endured the lengthy labour without her. Jen contacted an acupuncturist for me who came to our home and to the hospital to treat my pain symptoms and progress the labour. Once we got to the hospital Jen encouraged me to continue to try and do exercises to try to get the labour to progress. At midnight the doctor came and discussed our options for delivery of the baby. When he left my bedside, Jen gave us encouragement, but left it to us which way we wanted to proceed. We chose to get an epideral and induce the labour. Our daughter was born healthy at 4:56 a.m. After the birth Jen stayed with me and my husband ensuring our needs were being met and that the baby was happy and comfortable.  I was unable to breastfeed for the first month as my baby wouldn't latch. Jen kept checking on me over the next month. She came for 2 post-partum visits and taught me how to breastfeed. After the second visit the baby latched and breastfeeding was great. Throughout the whole process Jennifer was extremely supportive, kind and sensitive to my needs, and was instrumental in showing my husband how to help me through the whole process. I can't say enough good things about Jen and I would highly recommend her to anyone having a baby.

I always recommend expectant moms to have a doula, since labour is difficult both emotionally and physically.  Jen was a very calming influence during my labour, and she was knowledgeable and gave good advice leading up to birth as well as during post-partum visits.  She was very supportive during labour, and was committed to being there the whole time.  I highly recommend Jen as a doula!

My experience started at 1am on July 1st 2013, I was a first time mom but knew it was just the beginning. I called Jen at 10am when I felt I couldn't handle the pain on my own. On her drive from Abbotsford to Chilliwack, she saw the highway was backed up going towards Abbotsford (I wanted to deliver in Abbotsford hospital because I loved the staff there). So, even though I wasn't far enough along we made the ride driving through all the back roads to get there. Once we got to the hospital it was time for me to have the baby. HA! I wish! I was 3cm, it was going to be a long day! Jen stayed by my side, she brought music along. I opted for the rain/ thunderstorm sound effects. She got me ice chips and anything I needed. My midwife checked me again at 3pm and I was only 5cm. So, I opted for some morphine to sleep. I am pretty sure Jen went to eat and take a breather. I woke up at 7pm ready to get this baby out! We started walking around the halls and every contraction she was there rubbing my back. We went throught the night walking, leaning on the birth ball and in the shower. It worked by the morning I was 9cm. My midwife broke my water to get things going. Oh did that ever, I asked for the nitrous at that point (which did nothing for the pain) but with Jen beside me encouraging me I was able to start pushing. At 10:26am Elayna was born!

This was my first time bring a baby into the world and there is no other person I could have imagined holding my hand, being by my bedside (even though her chair had no back and she ended up pulling muscles because of it) and giving me words of encouragement.

Thank you so much Jen!
