Theresa and I met when I was researching what it was like to be a doula. She supported me through the start of my career and helped me virtually when I was in labor with my daughter.

she is compassionat, caring and well knowledged in research. I recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.

Having had 5 months to reflect upon our daughter's beautiful homebirth, we are convinced that hiring you as our doula was a key factor in our family's experience. We knew from that first meeting that your passion for informed choice matched our own. When circumstances finally conspired to bring us all together, after a stressful turn of events with our birth team, we were soothed by your empathy. When our friends ask what questions they should pose to a prospective doula, we can confidently answer, "You'll just know." And if anyone asks us for a recommendation, we will tell them, "Theresa Wellwood with Babeeze in Arms!" From conversations about navigating our healthcare options, to positive assurances during the birthing time, to an unprecedented level of supportive after care - you brought light and love to this time in our lives. We thought that we needed a doula for support during birth, but we didn't know how critical you would be to our postpartum period. When I called you, as a new mother of two, overwhelmed by hormones and sleeplessness and new stressors, you made me feel like everything would be okay again. By providing community resources, you restored our sense of empowerment. By visiting our home, where you exceeded all expectations by tidying up and cooking for us, you acted like I imagine a sister would have done. Thank you, Theresa! Thank you a million times over!

Theresa Wellwood, where do I start!?! Words can not explain the difference that she made during my pregnancy, all the way up to the birth of my beautiful baby boy. She made the experience feel so natural and empowering, I couldn't imagine having done it without her! She is full of knowledge and won't hesitate to do some research if there is something that she cannot answer for you. She was so incredibly encouraging and helped me to feel like I could do anything. As any first time mother can attest to, it's a whole new experience with so many worries.. Theresa helped to make me so calm and excited for the miracle of birth rather than being scared. I loved every minute of my birthing experience, and I will never go through a pregnancy or birth with out her!

Just wanted to write a quick note to share my experience with my doula; Theresa Wellwood. I had no idea what a doula was until I was well into my pregnancy & my chiropractor suggested it to me. My first thought was: that sounds like something crazy that hippies would use?! But once I learned what a doula's role is, and met Theresa, I knew I needed her at my labour & delivery. Convincing my spouse of that was another story. He didn't understand WHY we needed a doula & took it as a sign that I thought he wasn't capable of supporting & encouraging me through the labour & delivery. Once he met Theresa, he agreed to hiring her, but still wasn't 100% convinced. After our daughter Emily arrived (Jan. 19, 2013), his perspective changed completely. Now he says we couldn't have done it without her (& he's right!) and recommends her to anyone we know that's expecting. Theresa was with us for about 20 hours straight through my LONG labour, and was an incredible resource, as well as supporter & encourager to both Bren & I all the way through. I cannot imagine how we would have got through it without her. Having her with us for that special day was priceless.

Theresa is amazing! I had a family doctor, an OB-GYN and went weekly to prenatal classes. But having a doula was one of the best choices I could've made during my pregnancy. I like my doctor but she has tons of patients and it felt really impersonal, like I was just another client for her. Having a doula is so much different. Theresa answered all my questions about pregnancy, fitness, breastfeeding, newborn care, and anything else I had to ask. I didn't have to wait, like I would've had to if I called my doctor to make an appointment. Additionally, Theresa would explained medical procedures in terms I could understand without patronizing me. When the big day finally arrived, I was so grateful to have her there with me! Labor was nothing like I would have expected it to be. She knew what my birth plan was, so she would remind doctors and nurses of what I wanted without being rude. She did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable. Which was amazing. Little things like bringing me jello, drinks, popsicles, and warm blankets made a world of difference. When my contractions started getting painful she would help me by using her comfort measures. She also reminded my boyfriend of the things she had taught us earlier. Theresa in no way replaced him, but instead was there to coach both of us through it. She keep my boyfriend and myself calm. As much has I had planned and prepared for the arrival of my daughter, things just didn't go how I expected. That's why having a doula was the best choice I could have made, for all the unexpected things. She was there for me when I was angry, frustrated, and scared. She was beside me for all it. Throughout my pregnancy, labor, and even after my daughter was born. She was professional, supportive, someone who I could trust, and most of all she had become a friend."

I met Theresa by chance after buying a swing from her. I had heard about her Doula services through local social networking sites and was always somewhat interested. After meeting Theresa, I was even more intrigued due to her kind nature and the knowledge of birth she passed along to me. My first birth ended in a cesarean section and was somewhat traumatic for me as we had planned a home birth and wanted it as natural as possible. When we got pregnant the second time around I knew I wanted to do everything I could to ensure a VBAC if possible. After a lot of research we read how beneficial doulas can be when planning this type of birth due to the attention they pay to the mother and their knowledge of natural pain control, birthing positions, etc. My husband and I agreed to try this approach and Theresa was my first choice. She came to our house on her first visit and explained things extensively and answered any questions we had. Throughout the last trimester of our pregnancy, she was there as a support via e-mail or phone and I felt I could ask her any questions that came up. Throughout my entire labour she was there for every little thing and was able to help with various comfort measures. Having Theresa as our Doula helped us to have a successful, natural birth and I will be forever grateful that I was able to have the experience I wanted the second time around. Theresa was a huge part of this and I feel that we could not have done it without her. I would highly recommended Theresa to anyone considering having a Doula. It was by far the best choice we could have made and we would not hesitate to have her with us again should we decide to have another.
