Relevant volunteer or advocacy work

I volunteer for Catholic Charities in their pregnancy and adoption program, supporting teen moms during their pregnancies and births as a doula and long term mentor. I've volunteered my doula services for several years, as I felt a passion for all women to feel supported, regardless of their ability to pay. I'm still able to help assist those who struggle financially, either with payment options, trades or referrals.

Lindsay Hertel

We hired Kathy when I got pregnant with my second baby and was very hopefully for a vbac. So much research pointed toward the benefit of having a doula. After some convincing of my husband, he agreed and when we meet Kathy I could tell she was a good fit for us. Her attitude toward the importance of supporting all births and birth wishes was evident. She had no agenda toward a right or wrong birth..., but she was knowledgeable and encouraging about asking questions and allowing ourselves time to make decisions if we weren't total comfortable. She was not only a constant support thought out my pregnancy, but I firmly believe was crucial to ultimately achieving the vbac I wanted despite going past my due date and a long, up and down labor, including one particularly negative doctor. Her presence though labor and delivery was absolutely the calm, collected, strong support that my husband and I both needed. And I do know too, that if for some reason I wasn't able to have the vbac I hoped for, that her support and strength would have been unwavering and would have gotten us through with my head high. My husband, who was like many and a bit skeptical at first, completely agrees. Kathy didn't replace any of his role at all, but supported both of us, plus went above and beyond. I cannot recommend Kathy more!!! Thank you so much Kathy!!
