Originally I hired Chrissy in anticipation of our 3rd child’s arrival. I knew from experience that I’d not only need help with the logistics of caring for our newborn, but also with easing the transition for our 4 yo son as well as my own transition into the postpartum period. Little did I know that our son would be born 3 weeks early, resulting in an 8 day hospital stay before we could come home. And less than a month later we were back in the hospital when our newborn developed a virus, resulting in another 10 day long hospital stay. All of this is to say that I could not have asked for a more compassionate, flexible and supportive doula than I found in Chrissy as our family navigated the stress of these circumstances. Her knowledge and composed manner were incredibly comforting to me throughout this time. And her ability to ally quickly with my 4 yo and help him adapt to the sometimes unsettling changes was such a gift. Chrissy is totally competent in all areas relating to baby. But it was her emotional sensitivity and steady presence which I appreciated the most. I cannot highly recommend Chrissy enough and am so grateful for the time we had with her.

We chose Chrissy as a post-partum doula, and in retrospect I wish we had also chosen her to attend the birth of our son. She has the experience and knowledge that good doulas have, which put me at ease immediately. What makes her special is the questions she asks, to uncover the best course of action.

Her empathy is one of her strong points. She taught us several ways to calm a newborn, and the importance of naps. She helped take a load off my husband's shoulders and helped make sure we both were eating enough. She helped us organize our nursery when our baby arrived a bit sooner than we had expected. She gave us prompt answers to our questions, occasionally following up by e-mail when additional information would be helpful.

She provided valuable emotional support when we were dealing with extended family issues. She stood back and asked great questions about how I wanted to handle things. These were things we wouldn’t have thought about if the questions had not of been asked.

She is eternally cheerful and enthusiastic. If I have another child I will choose to have her there.

My husband and I had a great birth experience and a big reason why is because Chrissy was a part of it. She guided us through the process of what to expect and was a wonderful resource we could count on. The day of the birth she stayed at my side and comforted me both emotionally and physically. After our daughter was born she came to our home and it was wonderful to recap the day of the birth. Additionally, she offered tips and support to make breastfeeding a success. Chrissy is a wealth of information and very passionate about what she does. We would happily use her again and would gladly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, knowledgable and experienced doula.

Chrissy was a wonderful doula. We felt comfortable reaching out to her whenever and when the time came she was there when we needed her. She was a wonderful resource throughout the pregnancy and after giving birth. We will use her again with our second baby wheneve that may be. She respected our wants and needs throughout pregnancy, labor and after. She was a wealth of knowledge that eased our concerns and questions. She made the whole experience much easier and more pleasant.

I'd highly recommend a doula and I'm glad we chose Chrissy.  We valued the meetings we had with her before the birth; her explaining everything to us and making us aware of all the options we had.  I really don't think I could have labored at home as long as I did without her.  It was nice that my husband and her could take turns in caring for me and allowing breaks for each other.  I valued the support she gave me after my birth.  She answered all my text messages I sent her and gave me the support I needed before, during and after the birth of my first son, Gunnar.

Me and my family really appreciated Chrissy's help and support. The first 3 months following the birth of my baby were the toughest since I was inexperienced. Chrissy was wonderful and so helpful with my baby, giving me the advice and support I needed. She was also very flexible and very available.

I highly recommend her -- thanks so much Chrissy!

I can't say enough great things about Chrissy. She knows her stuff. From using the rebozo to essential oils and even the tens unit. She takes great notes, so after the birth when you don't remember how things really happened shes got you covered. Before she left she made sure we had snacks and drinks within arms reach so that we could just relax and rest. Chirssy made our first birth, which was at home, a more relaxed and comfortable experience than I expected birth could be. I would hope to have her at all future births.

Chrissy Valuzzi was introduced to us by my trusty midwife. My husband and I were smitten by the middle of our first meeting. While we would be her first experience with a home birth AFTER cesarean, her knowledge base and positive demeanor left us feeling secure in our decision that she was the right fit for us. Our meetings with Chrissy were never rushed. She was very attentive to our needs and was able to answer all of our questions. Always cheerful and personable, she was like having a friend over to hang out and talk birth!

Chrissy's presence during my labor was paramount to our success. She arrived quickly and without hesitation got to work on massaging me and suggesting various positions to mitigate the pain (as much as it can be). She kept calm throughout all stages of labor and offered so much encouragement, reminding me that my body was doing exactly what it was supposed to be doing and that I was doing exactly as I should. When things got really intense, she reminded me to listen to my body and to move into the position it was telling me to move into. That really helped me achieve some milestone pushes! She took photographs and video of the birth with our camera and kept notes throughout which she used to put together a beautiful timeline of the birth. That was really special because when you're in it, it's hard to remember all the really awesome details. After the birth, she totally geeked out on the placenta along with our midwives, which I can appreciate. We had initially wanted her to encapsulate it, but due to it's condition, we were unable to do so.

Chrissy has a very natural way of fitting into your life during this special time. She's like a friend you've always known and the lifeline you and your partner need while you labor.

I used Chrissy as my post-partum doula for my entire maternity leave! Chrissy came 2-3 times every week for a couple of hours each time to look after my baby Arella while I ran errands or did chores. She was always on time and ended up really bonding with baby Arella. She interacted with Arella and I could see that Arella really liked her too. As a single mum, Chrissy's help was GOLDEN! If you are looking for a trustworthy and caring postpartum doula, you have found her. Thank you Chrissy.

Chrissy was very professional (on time, returned calls, etc..) and caring helping us with the birth of our second child.  She traveled to us (in Renton) and worked with our schedule.  I highly recommend Chrissy for Doula services.

Believe it or not my husband and I met Chrissy the day I went into labor! As with most births, things didn't go exactly as planned. My water broke before labor started while my original doula was on a planned vacation and her first back up was unavailable. So it was Chrissy to the rescue!

Since Chrissy was essentially a stranger when we welcomed her into the most intimate situation of our lives I believe it speaks volumes about her. She was warm, energetic, and positive from the moment we met her. Chrissy was a huge resource of information and a sounding board when my husband and I were faced with decisions regarding our labor. She supported me in so many ways so that I could achieve my goal of a pain medication free labor. I am still in awe of my experience and how she managed to keep me comfortable with all her methods (including massage!), she kept me hydrated even when I refused a drink from my husband, she kept me focused when I felt close to giving up, and most of all she supported my husband in supporting me.

Somehow Chrissy just knew what we needed when we needed it! She even found the time to take notes and photographs during my labor. The written recap of my experience she gave me afterwards will always hold a special place in my heart. Most of all the support didn't end after my son's birth. When I had some rocky moments with the post-partum baby blues, she knew just how to listen, react and support. I know that even in the future I could reach out to her.

I could go on and on about what an amazing doula Chrissy is. I truly feel that my life has been changed having met her. I will forever remember the birth of my first child and what an impact Chrissy had on our new little family.

Chrissy was extremely helpful and gave us a lot of information to prepare me for the delivery and postpardum.  She was a great advocate and support for me to be able to have a drug-free birth in the hospital.  She wrote up a birthplan so I didn't have to worry about communicating my desires to the doctors and nurses.

Chrissy obviously has a passion for what she does and is a natural nurturer and caretaker.  She put me at ease about the whole experience.

Having never met Chrissy before she walked into our bedroom as I was in labor {our original doula was attending another birth and Chrissy was one of her backups}, I was so pleased to have her join us. Her calm demenour and postitive attitude spoke volumes to me as labor picked up. In addition to helping me, she was a great support to my husband in the midst of my laboring. She was quick to follow up with us in the days post birth and assured us we could contact her if we needed anything at all. Calm, confident, knowledgable, kind, supportive...the list goes on. I would highly recommend Chrissy if you are looking for a doula!

When I realized I was pregnant with my first child, I was both overjoyed and overwhelmed. We decided to get a doula and after multiple interviews Chrissy stood out from the rest. She has a bubbly, easy-going personality, was quick to respond, and was very well informed. Meetings with her before the birth helped to quell some of my fears and anxieties about delivery. I learned so much about the progression of labor and what to expect in the hospital, so on the day of delivery I felt calm and confident. I love my husband, but there is something about the emotional support of a woman comfortable and confident with birth that really helped me feel at ease. In the delivery room, Chrissy made sure I was hydrated and comfortable, made sure the staff understood and followed my birth plan, helped my husband, took pictures... she was indispensable! I'm really happy with my birth experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chrissy.

Chrissy is experienced, knowledgeable and kind.  During my labor she was a very calming influence and able to read a situation well.  She helped me work through contractions without medication as I'd hoped.  She also helped us work through some difficult decisions, even pulling up research studies on her phone at one point to help us be as educated as possible!  Chrissy's doula care allowed me to have a joyous, beautiful and empowering birth experience.  It was wonderful to look over and see her smile matching mine and my husband's as our beautiful daughter was placed on my tummy.  I would hire Chrissy again in a heartbeat.

Chrissy has been out postpartum doula for almost three months now. I endured a very long labor and devliery, followed by some severe PPD. The work that Chrissy has done for me and my family goes way beyond the normal protocal of a postpartum doula. She has such a gentle, nuturing, and loving personality. My daughter absolutely loves her, and you can see my daughter's face light up whenever Chrissy walks through the door. I trust Chrissy one hundred percent, and owe so much of my healing and recovery to Chrissy. She has not only been a wonderful ally for my daughter, but for my husband and I as well. I simply cannot express the gratitude I have for Chrissy, and how lucky I feel to have her as our doula. I would highly recommend Chrissy to any mamas looking for someone who looking for a postpartum doula. Our family has been truly blessed by Chrissy's presence during this challenging postpartum period.

Chrissy is an amazing doula! She was supportive, knowledgeable and make me feel empowered and in control. I could have never deliver my son without her. This was my first pregnancy, and I was without a partner. Laboring without a partner and not knowing what to expect was frightening to me. I was especially worried about transition labor, but I wanted to complete childbirth naturally with no medication. Chrissy helped me understand what to expect during labor, and even postpartum. My son Jason was born at Swedish Hospital in Edmonds. During my labor she was there to provide support, keep me focused and was very nurturing. Chrissy was quick to suggest laboring positions and to ask questions and make suggestions that were in my best interest. She even stayed the night sleeping by my side, and offering support to a nervous and upset “soon to be” mom, because the doctors were already talking about a C-section. She was there to help me calm down, and remind me that this was always my choice. To think about what was right for me and my baby. In the end I did have a C-section, but Chrissy was the one that made me feel like I was a success regardless of the C-section. Chrissy spirit and support was and is never forgotten. I often think of her, and thank god that she was given to me for the birth of my son Jason. Thank so much Chrissy!

Chrissy was a beacon of light for me and my toddler during my postpartum period. We both looked forward to her visits and I loved to see her actively engaging my daughter - teaching her about nature, coloring with her, taking her to the park - all the things I would have loved to be doing if I weren't glued to the couch nursing twins! My daughter still talks about Chrissy fondly and every time she sees the color pink she loves to remind me "that's Chrissy's favorite color!". Besides beautifully engaging my daughter, Chrissy made sure I was well rested (I got some great 2 hour naps in... Completely confident that she could manage the twins AND their older sister!). She also made sure I was fed and hydrated and    was a great help with dishes and laundry. Perhaps the most valuable aspect of her radiant presence, however, was to have someone I could talk to about all the little and big things I was going through. She is amazingly upbeat and encouraging and we still keep in touch although services have ended. She also met me where I was financially which was incredible. I will always be grateful for her compassion, kindness, and generosity.

to sum it up: Chrissy is a delightful human being and I am very glad to have had her here with me and my family during a time of huge transition!

Chrissy is amazing!  We knew going into the pregnancy and birth of our first child, that we wanted to do a natural/un-medicated birth.  Upon suggestion from a mid-wife and my ob/gyn, we decided to look for a doula three weeks prior to our son's due date.  I called one doula that was suggested by my doctor's office, but that person was unavailable on such short notice.  She referred me to Chrissy though, and upon our first meeting, we felt encouraged, confident, and completely headed in the right direction for our son's birth.

Chrissy was with us the majority of my 35 hour labor!  At home, she kept me active and moving in a very comfortable and calming enviroment.  Upon checking into the hospital, she was able to give the timeline and details of how my labor was progressing, which was very helpful since I was quite distracted by my progressing contractions!  Once we were checked in and situated in the hospital suite, we continued our circuit activities, which I believe greatly contributed to the progression of my labor and distracted me from the pain.

Chrissy is so great, and was such a great labor coach.  She had the knowledge and expertise to help navigate and communicate my birth desires to all the doctors and nurses at the hospital.  I credit her for helping me obtain my goal to have a natural birth.

Chrissy was an awesome Doula to have. She sat by my side my entire labor. With out Chrissy I'm not sure how my birthing team would have had time to rest or just relax for a while. I am very grateful that Chrissy could make it to my birth.

Thank You I appreciate all your help!

Chrissy was awesome!  My husband and I debated a long time over whether or not to have a doula to help us in our first birth experience, but we made the right choice.  From our first meeting with Chrissy we felt like we had known her forever and we were sure that she would be a great help emotionally, physically, and mentally for my birth.  We connected regularly before my birth to discuss my pregnancy and provide updates to my progress.  She also helped us write up a birth plan, but most importantly she educated us about the ins and outs of a birth (all the medical jargon, procedures, etc.).  I had a go with the flow attituded with the entire birth and chose not to take a birth class, but having Chrissy present at the birth and encouraging me during my natural labor was better than any birth class.  Her encouragement and love throughout the entire process was so great and we had such a great birth experience and I was able to accompish my unmedicated birth throughout her support. After the birth she met with us to get over some breast-feeding hicups and offered me lots of encouragement and provided me with more resources to assist with breast-feeding.  I continue to keep in contact with Chrissy as my son grows and I can't wait for my son to have such a great loving women in his life to watch him grow.

After interviewing several doulas, my husband and I chose Chrissy to be our birth doula. We felt her radiantly positive energy was what our family wanted around the most during the arrival of our first child. Not only is Chrissy adorably cheerful and easy to be around, she is well grounded in the knowledge base of published studies about births and completely resourceful when it came to any questions we had. During the labor process, Chrissy exuded patience and gave many nurturing suggestions during her marathon 56 hours with us. When a planned home birth turned into a complicated hospital birth, Chrissy's levelheadedness helped me and my husband through some very important decision making. I felt that hour of focused discussion was pivotal for our hospital experience, as we were sleep deprived and could easily have glossed over our options without thoroughly talking things through, and Chrissy was our sounding board. She was such a strong advocate for us at the hospital, helping to make sure our birth plan wishes were followed and even got both her and my husband allowed into the operating room, where she took some fabulous baby and parent pictures for us. To us, Chrissy has been the perfect package of a birth doula. She is experienced in multiple birth settings, smart as heck, caring and enthusiastic. We give her a 10 out of 10!

Chrissy stepped in to substitute our sick doula half way into my labor. She arrived in no time and jumped right in to help me go through the toughest part - the transition. She has a magic touch - the way she massaged my hands was so relaxing and help me push through one contraction after another.

During the labor, Chrissy kept a log and took amazing pictures of the birth using our camera. I read her log and looked and the pictures from time to time during the first few months of my daughter’s life. When things became difficult, it was an amazing way to reflect back on this amazing experience and get encouraged. I’m forever grateful for her for doing these things!

After my daughter was born, Chrissy was the only one who noticed she had a tied tongue. Her quick observation put us on a fast-track towards resolution.

I highly recommend Chrissy to anyone looking for a doula!

Chrissy was amazing. First off she was our Doula's back up doula...what are the odds of having someone (me) be over a week late and the other person go early and our waters breaking on the same morning. Anyways, I had never met Chrissy before she walked into the hospital. From the very start she comforted me and stayed right by my side. She helped me do different positions through very strong contractions. She knew exactly what to say to me and to remind the nurse about different things to try as well. I was able to have a very successful VBAC! She followed up with me at home too. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking a doula!

After the death of my fiancee, I got a big surprise. I found out, at about 7months, I was pregnant. Needless to say I was shocked, and left reeling. I was completely unprepared to be pregnant, let alone a mother. I was terrified, and alone. Thanks to the receptionist at my doctors office, Olivia, I found Chrissy. She was part cheerleader, part psychologist, and part biology teacher. She gave me the confidence to believe in myself, to be a mother. I believe that had I had to do this completely alone, I would have ended up giving my son up for adoption. I am grateful to her every day for this amazing little boy I have been blessed with. He changed my life in so many ways.

I read very little in the way of pregnancy books, choosing instead to focus, with my limited time, on learning what I would need to know once Sam came home. Thanks to Chrissy, I knew everything I needed to when the time came. She told me what I needed to know, and when the time came, I was, amazingly, not scared. She is a kind and gentle soul, who will always have a place in my heart. If you need a little help, a little love, Chrissy is just who you need.

When we decided to have a hospital birth, I knew I wanted a doula to help me feel comfortable in the hospital setting and be a support to my husband since I didn't want any other family members in the room. However, I'm normally a pretty private person, so I knew that if we did use a doula, it had to be someone I felt very comfortable with. We interviewed several local doulas and all were great, but it was Chrissy's natural warmth and insight that won us over. We knew she would be a welcome presence in the birthing room. Throughout the pregnancy Chrissy was very engaged. We had decided to use Hypnobabies childbirth hypnosis and Chrissy went ahead and purchased a kit for herself to familiarize herself with our birthing method. When I started having back pain around six months, Chrissy referred me to my chiropractor, who was instrumental to my comfort during the remainder of my pregnancy. When I went past my due date and we started talking about induction, Chrissy was a great resource for information about our options and was very supportive during that stressful time. And of course when the big day arrived Chrissy was excellent at anticipating my needs and being a calm, positive supportive presence. We also utilized her placenta encapsulation services and I think it helped make the postpartum transition go as smoothly as possible. It has also helped a lot to have Chrissy available to talk to in the early postpartum period as I've dealt with random medical issues that have popped up unrelated to the pregnancy and birth. I would definitely recommend Chrissy and use her again for our next birth if she's available!

Chrissy is very passionate about her work, has wealth of knowledge and will do her absolute best to support you the way you want. We hired her as a doula for our 4th pregnancy & birth, and she also provided placenta encapsulation services, including a sweet placenta print at no charge :) Whenever I had questions Chrissy offered useful information, advice and options available. During birth Chrissy was gentle, supportive, encouraging and 100% present for me and my family. I wish I had a doula during all my previous births! I can't recommend Chrissy highly enough.

Our doula was sick and Chrissy steped in as her back-up. We didn't know Chrissy before but she made us feel comfortable around her with her genuine opinion, warm and easy going personality. I had a prodormal labor and Chrissy was a big helper and supporter during the whole process. Her suggestion to change positions, activities, and provide counter pressure along with moral support played a crucial part during the labor. We had to make decision couple times to proceed the next step. Chrissy gave us very helpful opinion with respect in ours. I couldn't have done it without her! She was there for us to the end (which was almost 34 hrs!) She's wonderful and we're so glad we had her. We highly recommend her! We also LOVE her notes on our labor and delivery experience that she kept track for the whole process! Thank you Chrissy!

Chrissy was fantastic! She has such a great personality; which is extremely important when you're giving birth. I wasn't sure about a lot of stuff about giving birth and I felt much more confident after talking with Chrissy throughout my pregnancy. I wasn't sure who I would want around when I was giving birth, whether I would be strong enough to even allow my husband in the room let alone a doula, but it ended up being easy with Chrissy. She was fantastic, she supported me every step of the way to make sure my birth plan was executed. She was calm, sweet, and she wasn't overbearing like some nurses and other people that were around. My husband enjoyed her presence throughout the entire pregnancy and birth which has a lot to say for her as well. I'm so happy I made the choice to get a doula and especially with the doula being Chrissy.

Chrissy's expertise and caring demeanor where priceless after the birth of our first child. We had read lots of books and had taken all the classes, but nothing can quiet prepare you for the first few weeks/months with your newborn. They are wonderful, humbling, and challenging at times. Having the extra support during those first few weeks made them alot more manageable. Chrissy was a wealth of knowledge around what was going on with my body and anything baby related. She would come to the house when I asked her, answer may frequent calls(no matter the time), and proactively check in on us to see if we needed anything at all. Her genuine caring nature was soooooo helpful during those weeks! The thing that impressed me the most, was that she seemed to anticipate our needs. Because she had spent so much time getting to know us beforehand, she would lend her support when we asked for it and many times when, we needed it but maybe didn't think to ask for it. I highly recommend Chrissy and am so thankful we used her services!

Chrissy came highly recommended from a friend. Being first time parents we were not sure if we wanted a Doula during our birth. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions we made. Chrissy was so knowledgable, supportive, and thoughtful through-out the weeks leading up to my delivery and during. Helping to answer my hundreds of questions, sharing what to expect, listening, and generally putting us at ease. Her quiet confidence and caring nature were greatly appreciated by me but maybe even more so by my husband who said, "having Chrissy there during the birth to coach and play point at the hospital made it so I could just focus on taking care of you during the delivery." The delivery wasn't seamless but looking back having Chrissy and her expertise there made the entire experience very positive. Needless to say, we feel blessed to have had her knowledge, support and love through-out our first pregnancy and birth journey!

Even though my labor and delivery was quick, 45 minutes at Overlake Hospital, Chrissy was such a big support as my husband who was not able to be in the room since he had to be with our older daughter. Chrissy kept giving me positive reinforcement that "I can do it!" since it was so painful I was thinking there was no way I could do it natural without an epidural. Since I was not able to get my epidural she mentioned that everything I was experiencing was natural and women have been delivering naturally for centuries which made me think ok "I can do it!" and I did! I'm so glad that she was there, having a familiar face was very comforting since my husband couldn't be there with me. She has such a big heart! Her genuine care and kindness went beyond our expectations for support in prenatal care and the birth for laboring and delivery. We can't thank her enough! - Christina

Chrissy is a warm-hearted and deeply caring individual. My husband and I connected with Chrissy immediately. She soon became our doula for the birth of our first child. Through our work together, we were able to gain enough confidence and knowledge to make a last minute change in our birth plan and switch providers. We ended up with a midwife and a natural childbirth at a birth center, which turned out to be one of the best decisions we could have made. Chrissy was with us before, during and after the birth, encouraging us to connect an as a family and as a couple so we could create a healthy birth environment for our baby. Her loving presence guided us through what turned out to be the most incredible experience of our lives; the birth of our 9.3 pound baby girl. We would recommend Chrissy to anyone who is looking for an empowering and knowledgeable doula who will be there for you every step of the way. Thank you Chrissy for your love and support during our journey.

My husband and I debated whether or not we could afford the extra expense of a postpartum doula after our second child was born, but finally decided that we could really use the support. From the moment I met Chrissy, I knew we'd made the right decision. During her interview and our Email conversations, I really felt like she listened to and cared about what I was going through. From the moment she walked through the door at our first visit I felt supported. She cuddled my baby and put her to sleep, played with my toddler (who is still talking about how much fun "Miss Chrissy" was), gave me a break, made sure I was eating, and still had time to talk/listen to me. Throughout our time together she was a constant source of support, and I was repeatedly amazed at her abundant resources for extra support. She not only brings herself but a vast network of other professionals (lactation support, postpartum therapy, mom’s groups, etc). She was great and I would strongly urge any couple thinking about hiring a postpartum doula to hire her. She is definitely worth EVERY penny!
