We cannot recommend Shoko highly enough—her support for our family in Issaquah has been absolutely life-changing.
Shoko first helped us with daytime care when our son was just 2 weeks old, and later transitioned to nighttime care from when he was 5 weeks old until 12 weeks old. From day one, she has been exceptionally professional, always punctual and communicative, and an absolute joy to have in our home.
During her daytime visits, she was an incredible help around the house. She chopped and prepped vegetables, kept the kitchen spotless, did laundry, and even baked lactation cookies. She thoughtfully made enough cookies for us to freeze extra so we could continue enjoying them long after her visit. She also helped us learn our baby's cues for when he was tired or hungry. Furthermore, she also gave us useful and proactive advice when our baby started developing a diaper rash.
When we transitioned to overnight care, Shoko was equally wonderful. She helped the baby settle down and fall asleep fast, which allowed us to get the sleep we desperately needed. Throughout the night feedings, she maintained a wonderfully calm and steady presence, and also helped with chores like dishes, folding laundry, and washing bottles and pump parts.
Her attention to detail is unmatched. Even without us asking, she wiped down our kitchen counters every single visit. She also quickly learned to use our newborn tracking app (Huckleberry) and kept logs of diaper changes and sleep duration. We appreciated how quick she was to learn and adapt as our needs and our baby's routine evolved throughout the newborn phase. We also appreciated how she was always looking to learn and improve through proactively seeking feedback.
If you are looking for a doula who is professional, skilled, deeply caring, detail oriented, and a calming anchor during the newborn phase, Shoko is truly the best.
