in one word, Jenn is awesome. My husband and I hired Jenn to be our doula for our second kid. He ended up coming very quickly and we didn't have to spend much time at the hospital with Jenn - which was kind of a bummer because she is very fun to be around. One of the reasons, I believe, that our second baby came so quickly (30 minutes at the hospital and three pushes), was the work Jenn had me do beforehand. She recomended a great chiropractor that worked with me to get the baby in the best position. Jenn also recommended dietary additions and stretches that would help prepare my body for delivery. All of the great advice and knowledge that Jenn gave us helped me have the birth that i wanted and made my recovery so much easier. After a difficult first birth, I was worried about the second but knowing that Jenn was on our team made my anxiety go away and made me confident that I could have another unmedicated birth. Jenn really helped us have the experience that we wanted and we are extremely grateful.

Jenn was my doula for my planned home VBAC. Jenn's experience and knowledge were a great asset for me in preparing for my homebirth. She is extremely resourceful and was so supportive of our wishes. She gave us several hand outs to help us prepare for labor and as a VBAC mom, she provided us with additional information and tools on preparing mentally and emotionally for a vaginal birth after a cesarean birth.

Jenn is a true professional and takes her work seriously. I very much value her attention to detail, generosity, and wisdom in helping my family throughout the journey of welcoming our baby into the world.

I had a wonderful experience with Jenn.  She made me feel comfortable, like a friend, while also providing professional expertise.  Jenn was my doula for the delivery of both my son and my daughter, providing well for the different needs of each of those births.  Jenn also helped tremendously pre-birth, keeping me on track with exercises, diet, and supplements that were needed.  She answered my questions quickly and thoroughly.  Jenn was also an invaluable resource to my husband.  It was a huge comfort to him to have him there during the delivery to answer his questions and also to give him suggestions on how best to help me.

Jenn was amazing. I'm not sure how we ended up getting a doula but it was the best idea of my pregnancy. Jenn made me feel supported in my choices and she was absolutely stellar during labor. She came through for us in a big way through the entirety. Everyone I have had contact with in birth services reccomends her for good reason. My husband adores her, she helped him as much as me. It was important to me to have the meetings before labor as well. Jenn is just one of those sunshine people with a postitve spirit; you want her around and you are automatically comfortable with her. I also respect her committment to continuing education. I interviewed a few people and I stopped inquiring after we met Jenn. If/when I am lucky enough to have another baby I want her there again without question she was essential.

I hired Jenn as my doula for both of my pregnancies. I was a nervous first time mom in 2012, and a much more confident mom in 2015. Though vastly different, with both pregnancies and deliveries, Jenn provided calm, confident care that was completely tailored to what I needed in the moment. Jenn always kept me informed on the latest literature regarding everything from epidurals to circumcision, but never judged my final decisions. Whether she was laying with me in bed with a heating pad on my lower back, or reminding me to breathe, or making sure I stayed hydrated, I felt like I had a mom, aunt, sister, friend, mentor and confidant at my side at all times. I have recommended Jenn to all of my friends seeking doulas, and I know they'd say exactly the same. The reiki massage and AMAZING photos she took of my brand new babies were just icing on the cake.

Jenn Whitaker was an incredible support throughout my pregnancy & delivery.  She spent a great deal of time with my husband & I in the months leading up to our baby's birth.  We felt comfortable calling/texting any questions we had and in sharing information we received from my OB.  Jenn is a wealth of information!  My husband & I felt very comfortable with Jenn and relieved that she would be in the delivery room with us!  I cannot recommend Jenn enough, she is just fantastic! Jenn supports your birth decisions, even if they are not decisions she would have made.  If we have another baby, Jenn will be one of the first people I call to secure a spot on her calendar.  My delivery was quick (~45min), natural and free of any medical interventions.

Jenn is such a sweetheart, incredibly knowledgable about childbirth/pregnancy and an absolute joy to work with...do not hesitate in hiring Jenn!

Jenn was the doula for the birth of both of my children and I could not have done it without her!  She provided  excellent support to both myself and my husband during my labor (I had a hospital birth both times) and interacted very well with the doctors and other hospital staff. Her pre- and post-natal visits are really helpful.  Jenn has a great personality and knows her stuff - I would highly recommend her to anyone and would, without hesitation, utilize her services again.

We highly recommend Jenn as a doula! Hands down, she was fabulous in so many ways:

1) Jenn is very professional and extremely knowledgeable. She was always responsive regardless of the hour I contacted her, and she had so many resources immediately available to us -- a personalized lavender flaxseed bag and a TENS unit for pain, a great chiropractor recommendation, helpful daily stretches, tips for my husband, homeopathics, a good backup doula, suggestions on postpartum recovery, and more.

2) Jenn has a great balance of experience, calmness, humor and attentiveness. The day of my labor she was aware of everything that was going on and knew who to ask if we had additional questions. She had me laughing even through the worst contractions. She was always two steps ahead in terms of suggesting new positions to labor in, reminding us of our birth plan in the midst of chaos, and making sure my husband and parents were well rested and fed so they could better support me. Somehow through all this, she diligently documented the day's events down to the minute and later created a timeline for us as a keepsake.

3) Most important, Jenn is likeable, personal, and easy to work with. Labor can be a time of stress. You have to be able to trust and communicate freely with your doula for them to be effective. Jenn provided that for us. Despite the poop and pain, the delays and disappointment with my birth plan, the personalities to juggle (mine, my husband's, my parents), Jenn rolled with it all. She felt like a family member, put everyone at ease, and was an invaluable asset that we'd definitely use again!!

Jenn was a wonderful doula!  She was incredibly knowledgeable and always took whatever time was needed to answer my questions and address my concerns.  She provided exactly the type of information I was interested in, specifically homeopathic remedies and ways to avoid potentially unneccessary traditional medical treatments.  When the big day came, she provided amazing support to me, but especially to my husband.  We were able to get to the hospital a bit later, and thus avoid any interventions (as specified by my birth plan).  I am certain that without Jenn, I would have convinced my husband to take me in early and would have had a much different birth.  I would highly recommend Jenn to anyone interested in hiring a doula.

Jenn was our AMAZING doula at the birth of our daughter. I cannot more highly recommend her. When we first met Jenn I knew I wanted an unmedicated birth, but had a lot of trepidation and fears about birth. By the time I was ready to birth I was confident and excited for the experience. I was never scared during my birthing time, and I largely credit this to Jenn for helping me learn to trust my body. Jenn also empowered and helped my husband to know how to best support me.

We had three meetings with Jenn before the birth of our daughter. In each meeting we (Jenn, my husband, and myself) discussed various aspects our birth preferences and how she could support us with them. Jenn is extremely knowledgable about pregnancy, birth and newborns. Jenn helped us with exercises to help optimally position the baby, helped us write our birth preferences, introduced (and loaned us) a TENS unit, and generally made us feel ready for birth. She even made me a lavender sachel (filled with rice) to be heated and used during labor.

When it was my birthing time, Jenn met us at our home and helped me labor at home. She was calm, read me Hypnobabies scripts (Jenn is very knowledgable about Hypnobabies), applied pressure to my back, and generally made me feel comfortable. She helped me talk through my fears about going to the hospital before we left. At the hospital Jenn never left my side. When I felt like my labor was never going to end, or I started to doubt my baby would ever be born, I'd look to Jenn and she helped reassure me and focus me.

Jenn stayed a few hours after birth and visited us about a week after the baby was born. Jenn also does placenta encapsulation and took care of that (delivering the capsules to my house) so I never even had to think about it.

Jenn is wonderful. I can't wait for her to be our doula again when we have another child. Jenn was a crucial part of helping me have an amazing birth

Jenn was amazing before, during, and after the birth of our first child!  Since we had just moved to the area and were only staying for a few months, she showed me around the area, including a maternity and infant consignment shop, a fabulous cafe, and the nearest whole foods, in addition to the pre-partem visits.  Jenn was always prompt and professional and followed up every visit with an email answering any questions we had along with helpful websites and articles.  We were very prepared by the time I went into labor.  Jenn met us at our place and drove to the hospital with us.  She was extremely invaluable during labor, helping to relieve my pain, staying calm, taking notes which would later be typed into a labor play-by-play (which is fun to read and remember), and even sitting behind me supporting my weight for the entire pushing stage since the hospital didn't have the squat bar they claimed at the site visit!  She took pictures of us and our baby afterwards and gave them to us on a cd.  She stayed until the baby latched a bit and we were settled into the post delivery room.  I'm so happy that we chose Jenn as our doula!  I'm sure the birth would have been much more stressful without her! And in choosing Jenn as our doula, we also gained a friend!

Jenn was available from day 1 with tips, tricks, encouragement, an available library of texts/dvds, and a listening ear at all hours. She was honestly interested in how the pregnancy was going, what I thought of the midwives/birthing center I eventually chose, and checked in regularly. I knew I could ask her anything that was on my mind, at any time. We only had time for a few visits before the little one made his debut, since we had hired her so late in the game, but I felt completely at ease with her being present and supporting me (and my husband) throughout my second son's birth. I had talked to her about wanting a home birth but not yet feeling like this was my "home", so I just couldn't make that call. She understood and sympathized, while telling me stories of her own son's incredible homebirth (HBAC!!). She also had recommendations for me regarding a wonderful prenatal chiropractor (omg... amazing woman), homeopathics, relaxation techniques, and the like. On the morning of my son's due date, I woke to labor in the wee hours of the morning. After laboring for a bit on my own, I woke Jen, my husband, and the midwife, letting them all know that the show was getting started. We thought that we had a while (as my previous labor had lasted 22 hours), so I told everyone not to rush. About 30 minutes later, things got a bit more intense and I asked Jenn to come over to our house while I labored a bit more. She said she was on her way (!) and would be there shortly. Not 5 minutes later, I felt my son move down and began feeling a slight urge to push. I called Jenn again and told her that as soon as she arrived, we would be leaving to the birthing center. She must have heard the intensity in my voice and got here as quickly as she possibly could (maybe 10-15 minutes?). (Continued below.)

(Continued from above) My urge to push increased and my water broke at 8:09am in our living room, as my husband loaded the last bags into the car. Jenn came rushing in at 8:11am, ready to go with a bag full of supplies, and caught my son at 8:22am. She was so calm, intuitive, and strong, and I wasn't scared in the slightest. She knew exactly what to do, instructing my (now-bewildered) husband to fetch towels, a heating pad, etc. and somehow managed to even crack jokes with me (at one point, through the "ring of fire", I told her that," **Expletive**, it hurts!!" She laughed and said,"Um, well, you're pushing out a baby..."). Honestly, I felt more at ease with her than I would have if my midwives had been present. I knew I was in safe hands, even if this wasn't "the plan", and she was an invaluable support to me when I needed her. I truly believe that my subconscious knew how badly I wanted a homebirth and how comfortable I felt with Jenn, and that's why my labor progressed so quickly when I knew she was en route. Post-birth, Jenn snapped a ton of photos for us as we all rested and got settled. She took the placenta to the woman who would encapsulate it for me (even taking it into Starbucks with her for fear of leaving it in the summer heat in the car!) and dropped the capsules back off a day or so later. She texted/called to check in regularly, and dropped by with a wonderful care package a few days after his birth. She was nothing short of incredible every step of the way and was an invaluable asset throughout the entire adventure. If I had another child, I would call and book Jenn before even telling my own family I was pregnant.... that's how much I would recommend her as a doula. She is worth much more than she charges and will be the best money you spend on your baby's birth. Seriously... stop reading and call her already! You will NOT regret it.

I interviewed five doulas, all of whom were very nice and professional, but when I met Jenn, it was an easy decision to confirm her to be part of my pregnancy and birth. I was looking for someone who would help encourage me and support me in my plans for having a natural birth, while having the intuition to support me should I chose otherwise in the heat of the moment. Jenn was warm, confident, knowledgeable, and worked well with me, my husband and all of the hospital staff. She made me feel in control and comfortable, and ultimately helped provide me my ideal (and natural!) birth, resulting in a beautiful, healthy little girl.

Jenn is a fantastic birth doula! My husband and I wanted a birth doula to provide support and assistance during a non-medicated hospital birth. Jenn provided excellent support during labor and delivery, as well as great prenatal support. In addition to our prenatal meetings, Jenn was available via phone, text, and email to answer questions, a service for which I was grateful. Jenn's support and encouragement was especially appreciated as a medically necessary induction required us to ditch our birth plan. Having someone 100% dedicated to us during labor was really helpful. The hospital nurses and midwife were in and out of the room, and Jenn's consistent support, massage, and guidance provided a great deal of comfort. Ultimately, with Jenn's support, I was able to avoid an epidural and have a successful vaginal delivery. Jenn took detailed notes during labor, which helped us keep track of medical interventions during labor. These notes were later used to type up a birth timeline which was fun to review after it was all over.

Jenn has an extensive knowledge of pregnancy, labor, and birth. She is passionate, confident, and professional. In sum, I highly recommend Jenn as a birth doula.

Jenn was an amazing doula.  She was very supportive and helpful throughout my pregnancy and birthing time.  We would hire her again as our doula.  We used hypnobabies and she was very knowledgeable and even read scripts to me when my iPod stopped working at 3:00 in the morning!  Jenn rocks!

Bottom-line up front…Jenn is amazing! After a miserable labor and delivery experience with my first child, I knew I wanted something different therefore I set out to become more educated and hired a doula. I interviewed multiple individuals; however, I knew that Jenn was perfect from our first meeting…it was as if I had met a good friend right from the start. She understood my first labor and delivery experience (similar to her own) and exuded energy, which I knew would be important throughout the birthing process. She was incredibly flexible when it came to scheduling our prenatal appointments and provided so much knowledge during each session. Jenn’s “bag of tricks” is extensive…she provided tips/tricks regarding how to test GBS neg and what I could do to prepare my body for labor. On the night I went into labor, Jenn came over the moment I needed her and provided constant encouragement to my husband and me. After only a few hours, my water broke and my labor rapidly progressed leading to the birth of my second child 19 minutes later. Needless to say, Jenn was invaluable as we were not able to get to the hospital. She caught the baby and took all the various precautions to make sure the baby was okay while we waited for the emergency response. Her actions were even more commendable because she had never delivered a baby before, but managed to keep a level head all while providing continuous reassurance. By the time the ambulance arrived, the baby was successfully nursing thanks to Jenn’s quick action. I did not plan for a home birth, but thanks to Jenn’s skills and attitude, it was the best experience I could have hoped to have. I would definitely recommend Jenn to anyone and hope that she is available if/when I am pregnant in the future.

Jenn was absolutely wonderful. I felt comfortable with her immediately during our initial consultation and knew she was a match for me. She was just the kind of support I was looking for as a single parent. She was funny, personable, knowledgeable, professional, supportive, enthusiastic...and so much more. I am a first-time mom and was facing a VBAC scenario due to previous uterine surgery. Jenn was encouraging of my plan and provided all of the information that I needed. I took advantage of her lending library and the use of the TENS unit. All of the other extras that she provided, such as the lavender flax bag and the use of homeopathic remedies, were nice bonuses. Jenn stayed with me during labor, traveling to my home and then accompanying me to the hospital. She even put up--and fit in--with my crazy family and friends who also stayed with me during my labor. She created calm in the midst of what could have been chaos. When the difficult decision came to choose a C-section, Jenn helped me consider all of the factors and feel more comfortable with my decision. Jenn is a fantastic doula and I highly recommend her.

I would highly recommend Jenn Whitaker as a doula. Jenn was everything I was looking for. She is knowledgeable, prepared, nice, funny and supportive. Whenever I had a question she had an answer and would take the time to research things for me as well. She helped me write a birth plan that my doctors loved and followed. She came to my birth with everything I could ever need and the kitchen sink, just incase I needed it. She has a tens unit that you can use during labor which is really nice. She also makes a lavender heat pack that was great before and after labor. During labor she was there for me, anticipating what I would want next and supported me through the processes. She helped me have a wonderful hypno birth, and helped me remember to relax and focus. This was my 4th child and I'm sad I didn't have her for my other three. I had my best birth experience. My doctor, who is a regular OB, thought she was amazing and asked for her card so he could recommend her to his patients. He didn't even like doula's before my birth. Jenn is amazing, you can't go wrong hiring her to be your doula.

I had a great birth experience with Jenn.  Her expertise was very utilized in my long, diificult VBAC. She was helpful with natural pain relief techniques and so much more. She was respectful of my wishes and kept me focused.  I appreciated having her training and knowledge when it was needed and would recommend her to any mom, especially VBAC moms.  She is well worth the investment!

Jenn stepped in as a pinch-doula for our regular doula whose schedule didn't cooperate with our baby's late departure.

She was amazingly supportive and resilient through a 42-hour labor, and saved our collective sanity during an intense and emotional time. Jenn worked with us to understand what medical interventions we were experiencing and what options we had. And she always had something in her bag of tricks whether it be a laboring position, homeopathic, or joke to help take the edge off whatever the birthing surges were bringing my wife's way.

In two days we went from being a committed-but-naive hypnobirthing (read: unmedicated) family to having had over 2 dozen medical professionals care for us and our forceps-delivered 10-lb newborn son. Without Jenn I don't know what we would have done: despite feeling prepared for every outcome, I wasn't, and was very happy to have Jenn's experience and attitude backing me up when it became clear that we needed her help.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jenn as a doula to any expecting mother interested in having a tough, knowledgeable, and caring advocate for her rights and well-being at her side.

I couldn't have had a natural birth without Jenn Whitaker. I was induced with Cervadil due to low amniotic fluid and issues with the baby's heartbeat. Jenn hung in with us overnight during a long labor and used a variety of different methods to help me do what felt impossible--avoid the use of further drugs despite very strong contractions no more than 3 minutes apart for 18 hours, very little sleep (four hours in two nights) and the complicating factor of fibromyalgia.  Many times I wanted to give up and get the epidural, but with her homeopathics, massage techniques, TENS unit, encouragement to breathe, and reassurances that I could do this, she helped get me through the very difficult labor.

She is also extremely knowledgeable--I always felt like I was in good hands because she knew so much about so many topics related to labor and delivery and babies.

Jenn goes above and beyond not only in labor but in all her client relations. For instance, she gives every client a wonderfully soothing lavender flax massage bag, she brought my husband coffee and a pastry in the hospital, on the postpartum visit she gave us a bath bomb and baby onesie, etc.

Jenn is worth three times her fee. Highly recommend.

When I first met Jenn I knew we were a match. Her years as a business professional resonated with me and also her background having a c-section then a vaginal birth meant she knew the situation I faced. Jenn has really great listening skills and immediately made me feel comfortable as well as having the resources available such as a lending library, hyno-birthing scripts and CD's as well as playing out different scenarios. I was able to call her about my fear of giving birth vaginally and she never tired of answering my questions via phone calls and emails with back-up in facts, books and other examples of successful births.

When Jenn arrived at the hospital she brought her bag of "goodies" which included aromatherapy oils, the peanut (A ball to sit on to ease laboring) and her cheery and focused attitude. I immediately felt as though I was with a close friend/famiily member having Jenn in the room. All throughout the labor process Jenn was focused, calm and poised which was a great energy in the room during the stressful labor. She never tired of giving me the facts and reminding me of my birth plan. Jenn has amazing stamina and never tired of holding my hand and helping me feel comfortable the whole time.

Our 3 a.m. chat about life and giving birth is a special quiet memory that really did prepare me for the next stage...HARD LABORING!

With Jenn's help I was able to have a successful VBAC and I would use her again and reccomend her highly!

Jenn was wonderful. During our prenatal appointments she discussed with us our plans for the birth and helped us prepare. Because I was doing the Hypnobabies home study course, she took the initiative to learn Hypnobabies. She was so positive throughout my pregnancy and her attitude helped me have confidence that everything was going to go well. When she came to my house during labor, I felt relaxed and at ease by her presence. She was very professional and talked to our midwife over the phone during labor before we went to the hosptial to help communicate how things were going. At the hospital she had great repoire with our midwife and the nurses. She was calm, gentle, and supportive throughout the labor and even grabbed our camera and took pictures for us when our son was born, so we have wonderful memories that we would not have had otherwise. She is a fellow VBAC mom and truly understands the emotions that go with VBAC. I highly recommend Jenn and think that she would be wonderful for both home births and hospital births. While I had a hospital birth, I spent most of labor at home and was only at the hospital for 1.5 hours before our son was born and she helped make the hospital environment calm and quiet and as close to a homebirth in a hospital as possible. I truly believe she is one of the reasons I had such a fast, relaxed, and beautiful birth. After the birth, she stayed with me for several hours until I was settled in a postpartum room. While my husband had to go with the baby to the nursery for the standard baby assessment, she stayed by my side and it was like having a close friend with me. Since the birth, she has checked in with me several times and has come to our house to see how we are doing and talk about the birth and any postpartum questions we have. We are so glad she was our doula!
