Hiring Kate as my doula was one of the best decisions I made during my pregnancies. After surviving a near death experience, every pregnancy that followed came with a lot of fear and uncertainty. As a Black woman, I also carried the very real concerns that so many of us have about Black maternal health and being heard in medical settings. I knew I needed someone who understood the weight I was carrying and who could advocate for me when I wasn't always in the best position to advocate for myself.
Kate made me feel seen, heard, informed, and supported every step of the way. She had an incredible ability to explain what was happening, answer my questions, remind me of my options, and help me make decisions that felt right for me. Just knowing she was in the room gave me a level of peace that is hard to put into words. I never questioned whether she would speak up if something didn't feel right because she had already earned my trust long before labor began.
She also helped my husband feel confident in how he could support me, which made the experience even more meaningful for both of us. Her presence allowed us to focus on welcoming our baby instead of navigating every unknown on our own.
Birth is one of the most vulnerable experiences you'll ever have, and having Kate there made all the difference. She brought a calm confidence into the room that helped me stay grounded, and I always knew I had someone protecting my voice and honoring my wishes.
Years later, I still tell expecting parents that hiring a doula is one of the best investments you can make. For me, Kate was more than a doula. She was an advocate, a steady presence, and someone who helped me feel safe during one of the most important experiences of my life. I will always be grateful for the care, wisdom, and compassion she gave our family.
If you're considering working with Kate, I cannot recommend her enough.

Kate helped me do a virtual consult in 2023 when I was pregnant with my first baby overseas and only knew the word “Doula” but had no idea what that really meant, or how to look for one, or what my birth plan could even look like who wanted to try a natural birth. Kate was prepared to answer all of my questions, and it calmed my nerves so much. When it finally came to presenting my birth plan to my OBGYN in a country that has high rates of C-section, I felt both empowered and respected. Then when I met with a potential Doula in the country I'm living in, I felt like I knew the right questions to ask and understood more of the language because of my virtual consult with Kate. Kate has an extensive knowledge from both her education and many years of experience. If you are pregnant and don’t know where to begin when it comes to conversations about Birth Team support, Kate is an incredible place to start!”

I hired Kate as a student doula back when I was expecting my third child. I hadn't had a doula for my other 2 and, know this was my last baby, wanted to experience what it was like. Upon meeting her, I could tell she was kind-hearted. She supported me and listened to my birth 'plan'. I ended up going into labor in the middle of the night, approximate 1 week early, and she was ready to go! I progressed super fast in triage. Once I got to my room, I asked for an epidural though the anestheisologist was backed up. While my husband is great, I was so glad to have her there as an extra support. She helped with massages, cool wash cloths and more (things my husband wasn't prepared to do, especially as everything went so quick.) It was even Kate's leg that I gripped while I roared my baby into the world, my first unmedicated birth. I describe having Kate there as an extra, needed crutch. One crutch may work, but two is better. I am so glad she was there to support my family. In fact, we have remained friends years later! Since, she has become a mom herself and understands the highs and the lows of pregnancy and postpartum. I, no doubt, would trust her again for doula support, whether it be pregnancy or postpartum.

Kate is amazing!! She was the first person to make my baby smile at just a few weeks old and when she brought dinner to me she right in to cook and she even started doing dishes. I felt very taken care of with Kate. I'd recommend her to anyone and everyone! She is made to be a doula!
