This pregnancy was emotionally rough after having suffered a loss and I needed someone who could be empathetic and work through the anxiety I was having. I also needed a doula that could assist my 10yr old son who would be heavily involved in the process. My husband knew how much a doula was needed and interviewed each prospective doula with me. Katrina was available from the moment we signed the contract with her. I could text her (something she prefers with all her clients) and I could expect an answer very quickly. I must mention that I did not know Katrina at all prior to hiring her as my doula. Katrina was respectful and offered support and guidance with all the questions and concerns that I had. She did not pressure me into having any procedure I didn’t want to and always asked me how I felt about things. Our birth was over two months ago and my 10yr old son talks about his experience all the time. His review of Katrina is a “good doula. She didn’t just help my mom, she helped the entire family.” Because of his experience with Katrina, he stated he will have a doula at the birth of his babies. My husband stated that “she has a good mix between trying to keep the laboring mother on track and being flexible with the change in plans. She is very strong in her abilities and didn’t seem put out by the change in plans. She wasn’t intrusive. She knew when to step in and when to step back. Plus, she is just a pleasant person. She also put our son to work, didn’t dismiss his questions and she was very impressive with our son. I don’t think many people are that dynamic in their abilities.” Katrina is a well-rounded doula who can work with a diverse family situation. She is extremely supportive no matter the birth method. I highly recommend Katrina as a doula and I would use her again. I refer her to others all the time. You will not be disappointed with the services Katrina provides.

We had a very positive experience with Katrina as our doula. We contacted her about 6 weeks from our due date and immediately felt that she would be a good fit for us. We wanted an additional support person for myself and my husband on our birthing day and Katrina seemed to understand exactly what we were looking for. Addtionally, we liked that Katrina is a hypnodoula as we were trained in the Hypnobabies techniques for natural child birth. On the day our daughter was born Katrina served exactly the role we had hoped for - providing support and suggestions to my husband and myself throughout the birthing process that helped keep us focused and kept our needs met. I would highly recommend Katrina - we wanted someone who would be there if we needed them but who would also allow the birthing process to be 'ours' and she was perfect. She knows her stuff and it was immensely reassuring to have her with us both during and then after the birth as a resource.

Katrina was great! She was easy to talk to, got along even with my obnoxious husband, and was always happy to answer even the stupidest of first-time-mom questions. She was supportive of any choices I decided to make for my labor & delivery, unlike some doulas who try to push their own agenda. Katrina also saved my breastfeeding relationship with my son - she came for the postpartum visit and saw how much I was struggling with breastfeeding, and called in a wonderful lactation consultant who lived nearby. We're still going strong breastfeeding at 7 months now and I couldn't have done it without Katrina. Having a doula also enabled my husband to get some sleep during the labor without me being alone, so he was awake and ready to bond with his newborn son right away. She also made a huge difference in the feelings of depression and isolation I had during my pregnancy. Hiring Katrina to be your doula is money well spent!

Katrina provides and unmeasurable amount of support before, during and after the birthing process. She was there for me throughout my pregnancy for questions or concerns regarding my doctor or things I need to prepare for baby. During the birthing process she was an unbelievable support system and I honestly couldn't have done it without her. When the birth of my first child ended in an unplanned c-section after 27 hours of labor I was devestated, Katrina reassured me that this was the safest route for both baby and me. Katrina continued to be a support system even following the birth, helping me with questions I had and coping with the fact that I had a csection. Katrina was an integral part of my birth experience and I wouldn't have changed one thing she did. If/when my husband and I have another child Katrina will most certainly be there. I highly recommend her as an incredible doula for any family.

Katrina directly improved my entire before/during/after experience of delivering my first baby.

The most valuable counsel from my doula was regarding information that *I didn't know to ask*.

One of many examples is that I didn't know eye drops administered by hospital staff for newborns is not immediately essential and causes blurry vision. Thanks to Katrina, my baby was able to see me for our mom/baby bonding time after birth.

With my doula I had the confidence to delay an epidural, encouraging my labor to progress with movement. Delaying it also meant that I didn't miss the experience of my labor entirely - something I'm grateful for now.

When my delivery required an unplanned C section, my doula’s support offered immediate reassurance. Just as importantly, I avoid lamenting “what if” because I did my best making informed decisions with my husband and doula throughout the process. I would later learn that how one feels about their birth experience has a lot to do with peace about their decisions.

My husband was amazing, but his contribution is different from the education and personal birth experience that my doula offered.

Katrina listened, educated me, and connected me to remarkable people and resources that I needed after bringing baby home.

Before I met Katrina, I didn't really understand what a doula does or what makes a trusted one essential. I know with certainty that Katrina's guidance provided a positive trajectory that would not have been possible without her.

We had a wonderful birth experience with Katrina. We decided to do hypno-birthing for a more natural experience and completed the Hypnobabies course. My husband was a little nervous about remembering all the hypno-prompts during the birth, so we decided a doula who had experience with hypno-birthing would be helpful. We were late in our pregnancy when we decided to get a doula and were very lucky to find Katrina. She met with us ahead of time to discuss our birth plan, fears and hopes, etc. I went into labor on the same day as another client, but luckily the timing worked out so that she was able to be with both of us. Katrina met us at the hospital, and she did a wonderful job of keeping me calm and reminding me to use my self-hypnosis techniques. She even saved us $275 by stopping the midwife from blowing up the birthing tub because it was clear my labor was progresing to quickly to use it! We ended up having a natural, beautiful birth experience, and Katrina played a big role in that by reading the hypnosis prompts, giving my husband suggestions, and giving lots of encouragement when it got really tough!

We love Katrina! From day one, Katrina was there for me, answering questions and offering support. Even during our initial interview, I felt cared for and like I'd known her for ages. Her kindness and steady calm helped me stay calm through an early start to a long labor. I don't believe that my birth experience would have been as manageable without Katrina. My birthing time was exceedingly long and Katrina was there. She selflessly stayed with my husband and I during the nearly 40 hour long ordeal, taking only a short break for her own family's needs. All the while, she was loving, supportive and encouraging. As mentioned in another testimonial, Katrina is very experienced in Hypnobabies techniques and philosophies and was a great support to my husband and I in that regard. When I was unable to have the natural childbirth that I'd wanted, Katrina was instrumental in helping me move on and keep the bigger picture in sight. Her steadfast support and patient guidance through a very difficult time was invaluable to both my husband and myself. We will definitely be calling Katrina again when it's time for number two!

Hiring a doula was a last minute decision by me and my husband. We interviewed doulas and had decided upon Katrina Hernandez because she best met our requirements and she was easy to talk with. It was as if we had known her for quite some time. This proved very comforting when I went into labor early. We hadn't even had our first pre-delivery consultation. As much as my husband and I had prepared for the birth of our first child with classes, we were still clueless. Thankfully, Katina was there to assist me and my husband with tips and tricks for managing my back labor. A quote from my husband, “I think she was amazing in helping me help you. Otherwise, I would have never known what to do or how to help."

Katrina is knowledgeable and experienced with the HypnoBabies birthing technique, and was truly my advocate when it came to adhering to my natural birth plan and baby plan. She was great at helping me make informed decisions that were in me and my baby’s best interest. Katrina coached me through my labor even when I was being a very stubborn and difficult patient. My husband and I don't know how I would have done it without her, and we will definitely ask Katrina to be our doula when we are ready for our second little miracle.
