Sherri was a wonderful addition to my birthing experience! My husband and I don't have family around, and wanted someone there that we could trust and be there for us as a support system. Sherri definitely did that! I had an extremlely loooong labor - 41 hours - and Sherri kept in constant contact with us until we were ready for her to join us when I was admitted to the hospital. She was great to get along with (which made the labor process much less stressful), and had great suggestions for laboring/pushing positions. She stuck around afterwards to make sure the baby and I were good, and to make sure he latched on for breastfeeding, and then followed up with us at home a few days later. I would definitely recommend Sherri to anyone looking for a doula!
I was looking for a doula that would not only help me acheive a natural labor, but also be highly involved during the pushing process to have a more controlled push. I was extremely pleased with the assistance provided by Sherri Wilkerson. She was attentive during labor, but not overbearing. She allowed me to set my own standards for how I wanted to be positioned and handle each contraction, and provided support in my efforts. She worked seemlessly with my midwife. The two of them helped me achieve my ultimate goal of minimizing tearing while pushing. She also proved to be an asset after the birth, when the nurses were busy with other patients. She helped me make that first trip to the restroom, which can be somewhat arduous, even if it is only a few feet away. Finally, she also provided me with my encapsulated placenta in a very prompt manner. Overall, I would highly recommed Sherri, and would not dream of going through child birth again without a doula like her.
Sherri was wonderful! This was our first homebirth and we wanted to have someone at the birth that could attend to me if my husband needed to be with our 2 year old. She was so helpful and attentive at the birth, and in the days leading up to the birth she would check in on me and answer questions that I had. She even came over a couple of weeks before to show us some techniques we could use in preparing for the birth. When we first met her, my husband and I instantly knew she was the person we wanted to be with us for the birth. She is very calming and relaxing and we felt so comfortable around her.
I can not even begin to say enough wonderful things about having a doula. My husband and I were blessed to have Sherri. Sherri was our doula for our birth. So far we only have one 5 month old but plan on having more babies and will always use Sherri. She made us very comfortable. She helped educate us and honor our birth wishes. She was always available for any questions and always encouraging. My husband was very thankful for Sherri's support. She was there to encourage him as well and take the pressure away so he could focus on me and the baby. I am happy to give specific details of my birth and the usefulness of having a doula anytime.
I loved Sherri! She is knowledgeable, kind and supportive. She was such a calming reassuring presence to be during a very intense and rapid labor. She had my best interest at heart and advocated on my behalf. She was also great at keeping in touch before hand. :)
Sherri was exactly what we wanted in a doula. She was very supportive. She listened to all my birth preferences and thoughts. She shared knowledge and experience with me without forcing her preferences on me. At the hospital she was AMAZING. Her presence helped make the entire experience wonderful. I would recommend Sherri to EVERYONE! Sherri also does placenta encapsulation which was another great service we got from her.
Thank you Sherri for everything!!!
I like to understand what is happening and weigh my options, so Sherri's knowledge of the typical process of labor & delivery was helpful. She helped me assess when to call my doctor, what the doctor was likely to recommend, and helped me think through my options, all while respecting my doctor's important role, and never being pushy. I was undecided about whether I was going to use pain medications until I was in labor, and never one did I feel judged for considering any and all options. Sherri was laid-back and conversational before the intense contractions started; I appreciated this distraction. When the difficult contractions began, though, Sherri was ready and "on." She worked hard for me and was by my side the whole time. I still don't know what she did (I didn't ask), but it helped me tremendously to cope with the pain. I still remember her saying during the hardest parts for me, "You are doing a good job," and, finally, "There is your baby!" She also answered questions after delivery about nursing and post-partum adjustment. I was able to have a V-BAC without interventions and do not regret for a second hiring her.
Sherri was great. She checked on me regularly leading up to the due date, and she was very encouraging when I was overdue. When the time finally came, she got to the hospital quickly, and she was amazing during labor. She had all sorts of ideas to bring to the table in comfort measures and knew exactly what to ask the nurse for and how to arrange the room. The other thing I appreciated about Sherri was that I never felt judged, and I knew she wouldn't judge me if I did end up getting an epidural. She was definitely all about the birth I wanted versus what she thought the best birth would be, which was really appreciated. Assuming we have another, we'll definitely be using her again.
Sherri was fantastic! My husband and I met with Sherri several months before my delivery and both felt very comfortable and relaxed with her. Initially, she did a great job of asking us questions about our preferences, expectations, etc.. We wanted a natural birth and Sherri was quite confident that she could help us achieve that. And she totally did! I had a natural, unmedicated birth just as planned. My husband truly supported me but when he was at a loss of what to do, got tired, etc.. Sherri was right there to help. She knew exactly how to help progress my labor naturally and made me as comfortable as possible. She was truly knowlegeable on the entire labor process, techniques for progressing labor, etc. etc.. One very patient lady!! I especially love how she massaged my lower back in just the right spots. When labor was most difficult, Sherri suggested a warm shower/bath and she made sure I had a steady stream of warm water running over me which brought relief from my intense labor pain. She totally took care of me. I had some back labor and Sherri recognized that and was able to help. She was phenomenal and I would certainly recommend her. She could also tell when my water was about to break and had me laboring in the restroom during that time, which was PERFECT! She stuck with us through the labor and delivery, even though she came straight from another client's delivery. This lady was on zero sleep and totally on her A-game for me. I never even noticed the poor lady was exhausted until after my son was born. I'm so thankful Sherri was with us and I would certainly love to have her again for our (hopefully) next child! Thanks Sherri!!
Sherri was an excellent doula for our family! She provided great personalized and professional support for us before and during delivery: attending a prenatal checkup with my midwife, meeting with us in our home and at StarbuckS and attending to my needs as a person with atypical labors. She was a good listener and provided helpful advice throughout the prenatal period and labor and delivery. She provided me with the support I needed to achieve a natural birth and was great at involving my husband in the process.
Sherri has, & continues to be, an absolute God send throughout our journey to becoming new parents! She constantly radiates positivity & serenity, making exactly the delightful kind of person you’d like have around for pregnancy, l&d, & post partum recovery support. She provided us with lots of highly valuable information, advice, encouragement & support throughout our pregnancy. She served as a sounding board & a calming influence, & helped us make well thought-out, informed decisions whenever we were faced with overwhelming circumstances. She is a never-ending source of tips & resources, & we’ve been very pleased with all of her recommendations. She was available 24/7 via phone & email, and responded quickly which was a huge source of comfort for us. She is culturally sensitive, & displayed respect & genuine interest towards our Indian heritage which was much appreciated. She rallies around all family members, not just the parents-to-be – my mom was visiting & Sherri interacted very positively with her, answering all of her questions as well. My mom felt completely at ease with Sherri & had lots of great things to say about her.At the 37th week we learned that our baby was breech, which eventually led us to have a scheduled C-section. Regardless, Sherri was there for us every step of the way, including coming to our home the day we got the news to share ways we could encourage the baby to turn (this was in addition to 2 prenatal visits),recommending a chiropractor to us, checking in with us every few days, to eventually keeping my mom company in the waiting room during the c-section, spending time with us in the hospital room & vsiting us later at home. She is the only non-family member that I would trust to leave my new born baby with, which speaks volumes about her. We highly recommend her services. God bless her for all that she does to help new parents & babies!
I had my first child in July and Sherri was a wonderful support to my husband and I when I went into labor. She offered to come over to my house when she heard I was in labor and I am so thankful. She really helped me to relax through contractions and made me feel so much more comfortable. She was such a calming presence during the whole process of labor and she knew the right questions to ask to help assess my progression. I would highly recommend Sherri as a doula! She is very personable, compassionate, knowledgeable, and always available when you need her. She is one that will advocate for every mother she helps through the process. I could not have asked for a better first experience during my labor.
