Kristin is fantastic! A wealth of knowledge and encouragement throughout the pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Whatever choices you make in advance or during labor, she is there to support you and help you achieve it. We had a difficult labor, ending in a complicated c-section. She was there with us for over 30 hours and we are so grateful. A great resource for both Mom and the birth partner.

As I said in my first testimonial back in October 2015, I would absolutely hire Kristen again and I did! Once again, her support during my pregnancy, labor, and post partum periods was phenomenal. This time my labor was very fast and she arrived at my house to discover me in transition and about to have a baby in my bathroom. With her help we were able to make it to the hospital and delivered a beautiful baby boy only 20 minutes later!

After both a long labor and a short, I feel confident she can handle any curveball the next might throw ;)

Our plan for a natural birth was complicated by a breech baby. When the plans changed to a C-section Kristen was supportive and helpful even though I didnt go through the labor process.

Kristen was a wonderful support in the birth of my second baby...I wish she could have been there for the first! At that time my husband did not know what a doula was and he wanted nothing to do with it. Things happened that we could not have predicted that left us in the dark, scared and stressed. Neither one of us understood half of what was happening and there was no one there to support him! In the end we were all healthy and safe, but the experience helped him open to the idea of having a doula with the birth of our second baby.

Of course every birth experience is unique, but it was such a comfort to have Kristen with us to support BOTH of us. She was able to help "translate" any medical speak when doctors and nurses forgot that we were mere humans. :)  She helped us with a birth plan and helped us with physical support techniques like stretching, massage and counter-pressure.

All in all the birth experience was completely different and more enjoyable! I think my husband was more affected by her presence than he could have imagined. We both are so grateful to have had Kristen be a part of our team!

I used Kristen for post-partum doula services and loved her! She met with me well before I was due to meet my husband, me and our 2 year old and took the time to really listen to what my needs were, and made some helpful recommendations as well. I'd had a rough experience with my first baby and even though I was an "experienced" mom by this point, i was still pretty nervous. After my daughter was born, she had issues gaining weight. Kristen added a calm, common-sense voice to the craziness and helped me feel comfortable with the decisions I made regarding my daughter's care. There was no topic that I asked about that she wasn't knowledgeable in, and I appreciate her warm, down-to-earth style. i would (and have) recommend Kristen to anybody even considering post-partum doula services.

Kristen is amazing at what she does. As a first time mother she supported me before my son was born, during his birth, and during his first year of life. She has the biggest heart. By choosing Kristen as our doula we found a life long friend. We can't wait to use her again for baby number two!

in October 2016 I had the pleasure of having Kristen as my birth doula for my second baby. She is amazing. I knew after my first birth with Kristen that I would definitely hire her again. She made both my husband and I feel at ease.  For this last birth, I went into it knowing a lot more than I did with my first baby.  I also knew that this birth would be particularly emotional as we had been dealing for a couple years with secondary infertility. Kristen helped throughout the pregnancy with suggestions for comfort, and self care as it is terrifying being pregnant after several difficult losses. I also knew I wanted to try to have as natural birth as possible.  When labor finally came, she helped us know when it was time for the hospital after labor it at home as long as possible, different positions, she was awesome at hip and back compressions and suggestions for positions. When it was transition and then pushing she was an amazing coach and made me feel like a super hero. It is thanks to her coaching me and my husband that I finally got the birth I had hoped for after so many things seem to go wrong with my first. I would definitely recommend her!

Kristen was wonderful during the birth of our third son. She responded promptly when my husband sent her a frantic text that the baby was coming, even though we had plenty of time.  She helped apply back pressure and had different recommendations for postitions to ease my discomfort.  Kristen also took pictures for us during the birth process, which I am forever grateful to have! She stayed with us and made sure baby had a good latch and was nursing like a champ. Kristens knowledge and experience was extremely helpful during my entire pregnancy!

My third birth went so fast that I was not doing a very good job of communicating with the hospital staff - Kristen did a great job at being a calm but firm interpreter of my incoherence  and managed to keep an eye on my husband and kids at the same time.

I also later called on her for help during a missed miscarriage, and don't know how I would have gotten through the procedure without her.

Hiring Kristen for both of our children's births was the best thing we could have done.

She calmed all of our fears before, during, and after the births, and gave us invaluable

support and knowledge throughout.  Everyone should use a doula like Kristen!

Kristen was very helpful in preparation for my second child. My first delivery did not go so well and this time I wanted to try to go with out an epidural. Kristen met with my husband and I several times so we all knew my birth plan when it came time for my second child to be born. She went over the massage techniques when in labor, correct breathing, different positions to get into when in labor. All which were very helpful when the day came. I was able to labor at home for the majority of my labor and was able to deliver drug free!!!!! Doulas are wonderful and they do not replace you signifigant other they are there for you and to make things go as smoothly and as comfortable as possible. Thank you Kristen!!!!

PS Love your store!!!! Moby wrap was my favorite purchase from your store!!

Kristen provided a lot of information for me. She helped me make an informed decision to have a repeat c-section. While she was not able to assist in the birth of my daughter, she did provide some much needed humor while I was prepped for surgery.

Kristen was a wonderful help during the birth of my daughter. She took turns with my husband supporting me through labor and her acupressure was invaluable to me. She took pictures I cherish and held my hand through some of the difficult parts of post birth recovery when my husband was attending to our new addition. She was so positive and happy to help however I needed it. I would happily have her again as a my Doula for my next labor and delivery.

Kristen was absolutely wonderful to work with.  She is by nature an extremely calming soul who really takes the time to listen to the needs of the couple- not just the wife.  If there was anything we needed, Kristen made sure to take care of it.  I cannot thank her enough from the husband's perspective on keeping my wife calm and making the process much easier.  I know that it helped to have someone who had not only been through the experience of child birth, but someone who knew what needed attention.  As they say, sometime you just need a woman's touch!  Kristen certainly provided that and then some.  She has also remained in contact with us long after the birthing experience, which is a testiment to who she is as person.  We are grateful for all she has done for us.  I would highly recommend Kristen Mead to anyone looking for an experienced, personal Doula.

We worked with Kristen in 2014 for the birth of our first child, as well as again in 2016 for the birth of our second child. Kristen was an invaluable part of each birth, one in the hospital, and one at home. She provided us with a wealth of information before, during, and after our births. She was a very reassuring presence to myself as well as my husband. She also helped with different positioning techniques and most importantly, helped us achieve the birthing experiences we were looking for. I wish everyone could have a doula as fantastic as Kristen!

We were first time parents when we met Kristen. Although my pregnancy was perfect, the birth and few weeks after were not. I ended up with double mastitis and an internal infection. I was in the hospital for 9 days. We hired Kristen on day 10 and are SO thankful we did. She helped us in countless ways. Her expertise got us through that tough time and we will always be thankful! Kristen, you're amazing!

My husband and I met Kristen Mead back in 2009. We were expecting a baby girl and my husband had just had shoulder surgery. I knew he wouldn't be full strength and able to assist when needed. We met with Kristen and felt very comfortable. We both knew she was a perfect fit for us. I had to be induced due to high blood pressure. We weren't sure how I would progress and were not looking forward to a long day/night. My birth plan was for a natural birth. Once I started to progress we called Kristen and she came immediately. I was very stressed out due to being confined to the bed and not being able to be alone for any period of time due to my high blood pressure. The situation was getting worse and the doctor talked to me about my options, which were magnesium sulfate or an epidural. Kristen walked through each option and was able to answer questions after the doctor left. We selected the epidural. Kristen stayed in the room with me while I received the epidural. She was very comforting. It was time to start pushing. Kristen was right there encouraging me through the whole process. Sadie was born at 6:15 on 10/2/2009. After the birth Kristen was able to help answer questions and assist with breast feeding. Sadie had a hard time latching on and Kristen was there to ease my stress. Once we were home Kristen came to visit and assist with any concerns. I suffer from severe depression therefore I was worried about postpartum. Kristen was able to comfort me and make suggestions. Kristen was a blessing. I’m very grateful that she was able to be a part of the birth of our daughter.

Kristen is a fabulous doula and I would absolutely hire her again. I was so grateful that she was supportive of my birth no matter what, so if I ended up needing a C-Section I wouldn't be left on my own. She was available throughout my pregnancy for support and cheerleading and even attended my ECV for emotional support (and in case I had to go in for a C-Section). When it came time for the birth, she was fantastic in both emotional, mental, and physical support. I had a fairly long labor and needed almost constant counter-pressure, yet she never waivered. When my homebirth was no longer a possibility and I needed to transfer, she transferred to the hospital with me and stayed through my recovery until I was settled in with my partner and baby and helped me establish my son's first latch. In addition to the prenatal and birth support, she was also great for postpartum. She answered and soothed my worries as a first time mom. I delayed my visit because I had lots of support right away, but when I finally scheduled my visit she still treated me as a new mom and was very attentive (and brought muffins!)

Short version: I loved having Kristen as my doula. She is worth far more than she charges and you won't regret hiring her.

Kristen has been my doula for both of my children.  I met with her after having a friend of mine recommend her service.  I was fully interested in an 100% natural birth.  She helped me write a birth plan and  prepare for a natural brithing experience.  Kristen helped me mentally process the stress of being overdue and being naturally induced against my will!  During my first childs birth, my back labor was tremedous.  She was the only one who could apply the perfect back pressure to relieve the pain.  It was priceless to have another woman in the birthing room who was not part of the official medical staff.

For my second child's birth, I was planning a home birth.  Despite not having any issues, I was transferred to the hospital because my baby was really big!  Again Kristen was there for me to process the emotional stress of going to the hospital unexpectedly and help me mentally process hospital decisions I did not prepare for.  She was completely supportive and helpful when I had a HORRIBLE nurse who totally ruined my opportunity for an unmedicated birth because of undue stress.  Kristen was so much encouragement to help to try to continue with my plan, but all helped after I had to accept medication.  She has helped me process the trauma that I experienced with my child's birth.  Kristen will be at every birth that I have and is a valuable member to my birth team.  I highly recommend her for any birth, but especially for natural births.  She is educated, compassionate, and experienced.
