Annette has been my doula for two of my three babies and she's absolutely phenomenal. She has such a peaceful, calming presence. She packs a ton of useful tools (birthing sling, spiky pressure-point balls and combs, peanut balls, etc.) and will tailor her approach to your cues and any preferences you've communicated ahead of time. For me, that meant being pretty hands-off (I don't like talking during labor, or being touched), but I still felt so supported. She would set things near me for me to try if I wanted them, or make gentle but firm suggestions if it seemed like I was starting to spiral. Several of those tools came in CLUTCH for me. 
She has so much knowledge about labor and birth, and so much insight into the unseen parts of the process. She can track a baby's progress just by watching your nonverbal cues, and had just as much helpful advice as my midwife on how to troubleshoot certain stages of labor. When I was struggling to relax into contractions instead of fighting them, it was Annette's quiet voice that cut through the intensity of transition with the exact right words I needed in the moment.

I started searching for a doula because of the traumatic first birth I had. I wanted someone to help me advocate for the things I wanted/didn’t want & help me go unmedicated. Annette was exactly everything I could have asked for in a doula. She helped me prepare mentally & physically for an unmedicated birth & was the support & honest voice I needed throughout my pregnancy. No matter what concerns/questions I had she was there every time with prayers, recourses or advice INCLUDING post partum. She never made me feel silly for any questions I had! She even went out of her way to come to my extra ultrasound to be my support. When it came to labor I genuinely do not think I could have done it without her. She set me up with the TENS machine which was a lifesaver, put calming lights up/essential oils, helped me advocate for myself, and reminded me how strong I am. She was not only a support for me but also my husband when he wasn’t sure how to best help me. Post partum she came with healing porridge, a whole meal for me & my husband, a toy for my toddler son, and a bunch of things for the baby. I almost cried when I had to say goodbye because I am so thankful for what she did for me & my family. If you’re considering a doula, absolutely choose Annette ?? she is a godsend

Annette Yen served as a doula for both of my pregnancies. She had several conversations with me leading up to labor and delivery to understand my medical history, the nature of my pregnancies, and any fears or concerns I had along the way. Annette was able to provide me with encouragement as well as practical support through resources and studies on questions I had. My youngest daughter flipped between breech and cephalic positions several times to where she was breech the week leading up to her due date. Annette provided me with much needed encouragement during this stressful time. She also did exercises with me, provided me with guidance and resources, and lent me tools to help with getting baby to turn. I am happy to say that my baby had flipped just in time for delivery!! Once I called Annette to tell her I was heading in to the hospital, she dropped everything and was promptly in the labor and delivery room with me. During labor, she guided my husband and mom in ways to assist me in pain management and she empowered me to listen to my instincts. Annette also made sure my wishes for delayed cord cutting and immediate skin-to-skin time were carried out which allowed me and my family to fully embrace the moment of our daughter’s birth.

Annette is a wonderful, caring person with an excellent  bedside manner and I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a doula.

Having Annette as my doula for both my babies was the most comfortable and reassuring thing. She has the tenderness and kindness that you need while giving birth, as well as the fierceness needed to make sure your desires are fulfilled for your birth. 

I especially appreciated her post birth care. Recovery can be rough and Annette was so available and present in the days and weeks post birth to get me on the right track.

Highly highly recommend her services!
