I found Shellecia through my insurance at 38–39 weeks pregnant, so finding a doula this late felt almost impossible. Thankfully, we were matched, and I truly feel like it happened for a reason.

She immediately took the time to get to know me and understand how I wanted my birth to be. We spoke over the phone and later met at Barnes & Noble, where she listened to my birth plan and gave me helpful tips for naturally encouraging labor and staying home as long as possible. Since I wanted an unmedicated, natural birth, her guidance was incredibly valuable.

The night before I gave birth, I sent her a picture because I thought I was going into labor, and she immediately guided me through what to expect and what to do next.

During my 18-hour labor and delivery without an epidural, Shellecia was incredible. She massaged my back with a tennis ball, applied pressure to my lower back and hips, held my belly, and physically supported me whenever I needed it. Most importantly, she constantly reminded me to BREATHE. When the pain became overwhelming, having her guide my breathing and help me stay grounded was crucial. At one point I was almost turning purple from the intensity of the pain, and I genuinely felt like she was helping me carry some of those contractions.

She made me feel safe, seen, and heard during one of the most vulnerable experiences of my life. She respected my birth preferences and never made me feel like I couldn’t do it.

Her support continued postpartum when she came to my home to check on me and Elias and see how I was adjusting to new motherhood.

I am so grateful that we were matched, especially so last minute. She was an incredible source of physical and emotional support, and I would absolutely recommend her to any mother looking for a doula who will truly listen, support, and empower her. ??

I had the absolute best experience with Shellecia as my doula during my pregnancy with my daughter. From the very beginning, she made me feel supported, informed, and genuinely cared for. She came to my home and gave me so many tools to help me labor more comfortably, things I had never even heard of before. She took her time educating me, reassuring me, and easing every fear I had.

One of the most helpful things she taught me and my partner were different positions and techniques we could use together to manage the intensity of contractions. They made such a difference when it was time to give birth.

In the delivery room, Shellecia was truly my advocate. She asked important questions I didn’t even realize needed to be asked and was pretty much my voice entire process. Having her there felt like having a professional and a friend all in one. I’m so grateful for her guidance, knowledge, and calming presence. I highly recommend Shellecia to anyone looking for a doula she is truly amazing at what she does.
