We were late to the game getting a doula (8 months into pregnancy) and we are so happy we decided to take the plunge and make Nicole part of our birthing team. My partner and I loved having her expertise and advice for pre-labor appointments (our first baby, so we didn't know what what was coming), but the real help came with labor itself. Nicole was super responsive when I first start contractions and then was there to assist my contractions at home before deciding a good time to go to the hospital. I ended up having a 24 hour labor with a lot of ups and downs and the comfort a doula provides is something I'd really recommend - especially Nicole's. For a first time parent, I'm not sure if I would have had the peace of mind I had pre-labor, during labor, or post labor, without Nicole by our sides. If you're thinking of getting a doula, I would reach out ASAP to her to see if she's available. For such a life changing events/hard thing to navigate, she makes it that much easier.

We hired Nicole for the birth of our first child after interviewing a handful of local doulas. We were not disappointed: her prenatal meetings helped us flesh out our birth plan, understand the many scenarios that could happen, and helped us figure out what we should be doing in the last few weeks of pregnancy to prepare for labor. Then when our water broke she helped support us at home as labor picked up and then assisted with our transition to the hospital. As per our plan, she worked with us to focus on non-medication pain relief for as long as I wanted (tens machine, positions, counter pressure, movement, etc.) both at home and then at the hospital. These were effective for the first 24 hrs. When we had to speed up labor for medical reasons, she was very supportive during and after an epidural placement. Both myself and my husband appreciated her assistance. I am content with how my labor went, and attribute a lot of that to her support and guidance. A side benefit that we didn't think we cared about is that we surprisingly are happy to have the many birth photos she took! Would recommend for both unmedicated or medicated labor goals at home or at a hospital.
