During the prenatal meetings with Hannah she showed empathy and openness towards my previous birthing experience that ended with a particularly traumatic cesarean section. She met me where I was at in regards to my knowledge base and where I was emotionally. My second pregnancy ended up having several complications that were new to me, but what was not new were medical practitioners using fear tactics to coerce me and my husband into unnecessary interventions. My goal was to VBAC unmedicated unless my child or I presented with a need for intervention. With Hannah's support, I felt like I had an ally that I could discuss things with to make sure I saw all angles of difficult decisions. I did not feel alone. Instead I felt like I was part of a team who not only wanted a healthy baby but also a healthy me. When game day arrived, she calmed my husband and communicated to my medical team when I could not (I was literally pushing out a baby). I truly believe that because of her support and advocacy, this birth ended in a successful VBAC where I felt centered in my autonomy and empowered. Now when I think of the births of my 2 children, I have more than the traumatic birth of my son but also the intense and beautiful birth of my daughter. Thank you Hannah! It feels so good to be seen and now to see for myself what I and my body are capable of from this experience.

Hannah was my doula for my birth of my son Luca. She was truly wonderful through the whole process before labor helping me prepare with everything I was worried about. During labor when my whole birth plan went to waste due to having a emergency c-section and helping me feel empowered to the whole situation. Even when the doctors were rushing my whole birth she made sure to question them when I wasnt able to advocate for myself. She even waited the whole time during my c-section and made sure me and my baby were/ felt safe after. I truly couldn't have imagined being without my doulas during this whole process as it was a very traumatic experience for me and the only thing keeping me going is how empowered they kept me through the whole situation. I loved having her as my doula and would choose her over and over again to be there for me. Having a doula is one of the best choices I have ever made for myself and my family you feel supported and at peace knowing they are there for you in all aspects of pregnancy! If you're on the fence of whether or not you need a doula I can tell you that it's the best thing you can do for yourself as a first time mom!
