You would be lucky to have Marissa Scanapieco as your doula.Marissa was my doula during the birth of my daughter Hailey , in February 2025 and I honestly can’t imagine going through the experience without her.

From the very beginning, Marissa made me feel completely at ease. She took the time to really listen to my preferences, answered all my questions and made me feel so confident and supported. She’s got a perfect balance of being super knowledgeable and practical, but also incredibly caring and compassionate.

When I induced and went into labor  she was exactly what I needed. She was calm, reassuring, and had so many great tricks up her sleeve to keep me at ease. Even when things didn’t go exactly as planned, she was there every step of the way, helping me stay grounded and empowered. I know I would have had the same experience without her.

What stands out the most is that she truly connects with you, and it she’s on your team the whole time. She went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I felt comfortable and well-informed, and I can’t thank her enough for that.

I’d shout from the highest rooftops on how amazing Marissa is and how lucky anyone is who gets to work with her.

I am writing to wholeheartedly recommend Marissa as a birth doula. As first-time parents, my partner and I could not have imagined going through pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period without her by our side. From our very first meeting, Marissa made us feel heard, respected, and supported. She took the time to listen to our hopes and concerns and gently guided us through all the decisions that go into creating a birth plan. She also educated us on the various medical interventions that might arise, making us feel informed and empowered.

In our second prenatal meeting, Marissa walked us through pressure points, labor positions, and helpful stretches to prepare for birth. She made sure both my partner and I knew what to expect, creating a shared sense of confidence and calm as we approached the big day.

When labor began, Marissa was immediately responsive and helped us decide when it was time to go to the hospital. She arrived as soon as we did and stayed by our side throughout my nearly 16-hour hospital labor. She was a steady, grounding presence - calm, attentive, and deeply compassionate. She brought snacks, kept me moving through different positions (even after I received an epidural), and worked seamlessly with the hospital staff. Her kind and respectful nature made her a joy to be around and a valued member of our birth team.

Marissa is everything we hoped for in a doula: knowledgeable, hands-on, intuitive, and incredibly supportive. She played a vital role in helping us feel at ease throughout the process, and we’re so grateful for her continued care even after birth. I can’t recommend her highly enough.

My husband and I were on the fence about having a doula at first, not really understanding everything one could offer, but at the suggestion of my midwives, we decided to hire one. I contacted Marissa through a moms, doulas, and midwives FB group at 31 weeks pregnant and my only regret is that I hadn't done it sooner. From our first meeting, Marissa was respectful, informed, attentive, and most importantly to me, calm and grounded. But it wasn't until my labor and birth that I fully appreciated having Marissa by my side. My labor was exceptionally long (44 hours) and veered from my birth plan at almost every step. Rather quickly I was physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted. Marissa didn't leave my side for the entirety of my labor. Her calm and constant presence was enough to keep me from spiraling but she further supported me with affirming words and strong counter pressure through every contraction. Knowing I had someone knowledgeable and grounded always in my corner was exactly what I needed in an otherwise uncertain and overwhelming experience. Even once we were home, Marissa would often reach out to see how we were doing and visited us, willing to help with anything we needed. When the time comes for another family addition, I will definitely be reaching out to Marissa again!
