I was inspired to pursue birth work after my own pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience with my son in 2022. I was in awe of every mother and parent who had come through this experience before me, birthing and raising their babies. Becoming a parent has demanded of me strength, courage, tenderness and self-compassion and as a mom to a now toddler, what I learn about myself and the love and privilege that comes with raising a small human continues to amaze me. I love to connect with others as they go through this transition as well.

When preparing for the postpartum period, my husband and I knew that we wanted our first few weeks to feel supportive and low-stress. We didn’t want to worry about hosting family (something that, while treasured for me, can lead to a lot of stress) or navigating lots of well-intentioned but overwhelming advice. Working with Sheyda made that possible and it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
We came into parenthood with almost zero newborn experience. At our prenatal visit, we asked to hold Sheyda’s model newborn doll just to understand what a newborn’s weight felt like - that’s truly where we were starting. From there, Sheyda taught us over four weeks how to take care of both our newborn and ourselves.
Sheyda has a rare ability to make you feel deeply cared for, especially if you’re someone who doesn’t naturally ask for help. She has an amazing intuition for knowing what things need to be done or are contributing the most mental burden / stress around the house, and just...does them. She was exactly the kind of support I needed postpartum - utterly supportive / non-judgemental, and somehow made everything feel more manageable.
She was also incredibly reassuring during a time when we had a million questions. As brand new parents, it's a little wild to realize how many weird things are actually pretty standard for newborns. Hearing “this is normal” in those early weeks is everything. She also provided a huge amount of support around breastfeeding, which was especially hard for me, and she always knew when to point me toward additional experts when needed.
Working with Sheyda was transformative for our early postpartum experience. She supported us emotionally, practically, and with so much kindness during a very vulnerable time. I cannot recommend her more highly.
