I am honored to be Katie's first review on here! My husband and I met with 5 different doulas before we found Katie. We could tell from our first meeting that she was exactly the kind of energy we wanted in our birth room. Katie may be newer to the doula-world, but she has years of experience working with preschool children and their parents, on top of a master’s degree in social work. Katie brings the patience, warmth, listening skills, and calming energy from these experiences into her work as a doula. At first we were nervous about hiring someone who didn’t have hundreds of births under her belt. But Katie was honest from day one, and we immediately felt confident that she was going to work hard to always find us the answers we needed. I had to be induced early due to preeclampsia, and she was supportive over text and calls throughout the entire early process. In the end, my active labor was much faster than anyone expected, and we didn’t quite need her expertise for positioning etc or her advocacy skills (because Mount Auburn was fantastic). However she still was amazing emotional support and an extra set of hands, and the education she provided pre and post delivery was so helpful. Though we didn’t get to benefit from Katie’s full range of expertise during labor/delivery, just knowing that she was in our corner and ready to support us with anything and everything was such a comfort and worth every penny. I am completely confident that Katie is going to continue to grow into the most amazing doula the more experience she gets, and if we decide to have another child we will absolutely be hiring her again.
