Relevant volunteer or advocacy work

In addition to being a doula, I am a community-centric nonprofit founder, facilitator, director, and consultant. I have over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit & mission-driven business sectors, specializing in organizations that provide equitable & healing programs at the intersection of racial and gender justice. Most notably, I co-founded the organization Young Women Empowered (www.y-we.org), and served in many roles over the next 14 years, as I grew Y-WE from the roots up. Y-WE is now a thriving community of belonging that offers transformative programs for hundreds of people each year, centering young women and LGBTQIA folks of color. When I co-founded Y-WE, I did so from a place of love—love for my two daughters and rising generations of young people; love for building multi-generational, multicultural, multi-religious, and multi-racial communities; and a deep belief that working to build equitable communities of belonging is an expression of love for humanity. As a consultant, coach & facilitator, I now serve over 30 clients in the greater seattle region. I prioritize clients who provide needed services for women, children, youth, LGBTQIA+ folks, People of the Global Majority (BIPOC folks), immigrants, and low income communities. Related to my doula practice, one of my primary clients is Hummingbird Indigenous Family Services, whose mission is to support healthy Indigenous babies--being born into healthy Indigenous families--being supported by healthy Indigenous communities. Hummingbird is the first and only Indigenous agency in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties to exclusively serve Indigenous babies and families from zero to three. (https://www.hummingbird-ifs.org)

Fee Details

Although I am a trained WA State certified doula, because I am not yet Dona International certified, I am offering reduced fee & sliding-scale services designed to fit your budget. In exchange, I will request a formal evaluation and feedback on my services to submit to Dona International with my certification materials. I am committed to not turning clients away due to inability to pay, so please let me know your financial needs and I will do my best to accommodate. Typical sliding scale levels are: - Tier 1: $750 or less (for low-income folks) - Tier 2: $1000 (for middle-income folks) - Tier 3: $1500+ (for those who are able) My clients are welcome to contribute at a higher rate than my sliding scale range, if they are able. All additional resources provided enable me to discount my services for other families in need.

Rose has a seemingly innate ability to connect deeply in a short amount of time. She made me feel safe and heard right off the bat. She listened to my needs, my fears, my excitement and danced easily between holding space and hearing them all. Like any medicinal practitioner, I think it's the clinical practice that builds true confidence and diversity of skillsets...and that takes time. I am honored to be one of her first clients and to have had the opportunity to learn and grow as a person and mother alongside her. I have no doubt Rose will serve as a beautiful support system and guide for many mothers to come.

Rose was attentive and dedicated to making sure I had support. My baby was breech, and she came with me for the ECV attempt. She was incredibly helpful in the OR during my C section, helping me get the baby latched to nurse while they were stitching me up.

she brought us food in the hospital and did everything she could to help make the birth a good experience. I'm very grateful.

From our first meeting, Rose asked thoughtful questions that helped me identify the kinds of support I would prefer. When labor started Rose was a steady presence, suggesting movements and offering hands on support to help me cope. Throughout the experience she followed my lead, communicated clearly, offered reassurance to me and my partner, and found moments of levity along with us. After the birth it was lovely for both me and my husband to process the experience with another person. Rose was validating, supportive, kind, and generous with her time and expertise. We had such good rapport that my midwife later asked if Rose and I were friends before working together. Rose was an indispensable part of my labor team, and I would highly recommend her to other birthing people!
