I have been passionate about the wonders of pregnancy and birth since I can remember. Anytime I would see someone pregnant, or think about folx preparing for a new addition, it excited and fascinated me. As I grew older, my passion was also joined by a strong force of activism and organizing in the face of attacks on reproductive rights. In my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, the rates at which black and brown bodies are fatally targeted is dire and continues to get worse. ?In high school, I worked on several projects regarding the improvement of health literacy, awareness, and justice. Later on, I became more academically engaged with the topic while attending Georgetown University in Washington D.C. I started my doula journey early on in 2023, and as I did research about which route I was interested in, I found a wide array of ways to practice. I found that other agencies besides the dominant ones aligned more with what was important to me. As I navigated to other businesses I found that the gaping hole of access was very much applicable to me, and ultimately decided to enroll in certification training under BEST Doula Training. I found their message inspiring, and their training realistic as well as comprehensive. And thus....RADIX was born in July of 2023.
