As this was the first time I was experiencing childbirth, I wasn't sure if I would need a doula to be present or not. However, once I connected with Maggie, I found her support leading up to the birth valuable when I had some worries. She helped me not be afraid and was an encouragement. When labor began, she was quick to come to my house and support me for the home birth. She was attentive, calm, and knowledgeable and helped me with breathing and counting contractions while she encouraged me what I was experiencing was normal. I ended up having a 26 hour labor and Maggie stayed by my side the entire time. Looking back, I have no idea how I would have gotten through without her there with me. I would have probably given up had she not supported me and kept me calm. She made sure I kept my strength up by feeding me and keeping me hydrated. I cannot recommend her services enough. Baby was born healthy and happy and things went as well as they could, in no small part thanks to her. If you need a rock and an encouragement to get through the hardest thing you'll ever do in your life, Maggie is your girl!

Highly recommend Maggie to any pregnant mother, even if they have never mentioned wanting a doula. She is as such a fantastic help during and after my pregnancy. She especially shined in the labor and delivery. I had an exceptionally difficult delivery and she never lost her cool and knew when to step back and let the nurses take over and aid in the final stages of delivery. My baby had shoulder dystocia and was a large baby. I credit her help to the fact that I was able to deliver my baby vaginally. If I had not had her aiding me throughout the whole process I do think I would have been advised to have a c-section. Even the nurses told me how impressed they were with how she was able to work as a teammate with the nurses throughout the labor and delivery. I know the nurses would love to see her aiding more laboring moms in their wing at Deaconess.

Maggie is one of the most kind and tenderhearted people I have ever met in my life. As I was nearing the end of my third pregnancy, I was expressing to Maggie that I was a bit nervous about the labor and delivery. Maggie immediately offered to attend my birth! She was not a doula at the time but she said that she had always dreamed of attending a birth. As I hit 42 weeks, my midwife said I had 4 hours to give birth to my baby or I had to be transferred to the hospital so we did some things to get labor going and Maggie dropped her family holiday plans and came right over to help. She knew things were progressing and encouraged me even when I was in denial. She stayed with me the entire time and was such a calming and encouraging presence. It felt a little like she was reading my mind because she did things that I didn't have to ask for, which was a HUGE blessing because I didn't have that in my first 2 births. When my husband stepped in to help me, Maggie took pictures of us that I will cherish forever. She made me feel cared for. It was the beautiful birth experience that I had always wanted. After the birth, I told Maggie that she absolutely HAD to pursue being a doula because every woman should have a calming and encouraging support system like her. I am absolutely thrilled Maggie chose to pursue doula work. She is an absolute blessing and will love on so many mamas and babies!
